"What do you mean?"

Mandy asked, calmly adjusting. She was intimidated by Declan's vicious stare

Declan shrugged. "I assume you're not yet ready to talk. I will give you more time." Declan said with a lip smile. "Could you please excuse me?" He asked calmly.

When Mandy did not move, Declan turned to go take the back door.

"Declan, wait...." Mandy grabbed him by his hand to stop him.

Declan's arm stiffened under Mandy's grip, hot steam exuding from it.

Mandy withdrew her hand sharply looking up at Declan in shock. What was that? Declan's hand steamed like a hot charcoal.

"Uhm... Please don't leave. I can explain." Mandy said when she managed to find her tongue.

"I wanted to tell you but—"

"Tell me now, Mandy." Declan demanded, making Mandy flinch.

She looked down at her hand nervously, not sure if where to begin.

"Not to make excuses, but I never knew what the medicine was all about. I invested because Bench told me the business was good and—"
