“What is the relationship between your family and that of Declan King who is said to be involved in a scandal?”

Mandy looked at the reporter who had asked the question before showing a soft smile.

“The relationship between the Kings and the Ashers is nothing of major importance. Whatever had happened between the two in the past was based on pure professionalism.”

“So are you saying that your family has no ties with the Kings?” Daily Press.Another voice chimed.

“That is exactly what I am trying to say. Whatever was between the Kings and the Ashers was based on a deal to heal the Asher patriarch… a deal that has been finalized. There is nothing linking us to that family again… neither is there anything linking us to their family scandal.” Mandy replied with a smile.

“An article came out months back that you and Declan King had some romantic relationship going on. Are you perhaps denying him now because of the scandal around his name?”

Get yourselves into the Deckers and the Evans industries for me. This should be done without any hitch. It was a bright morning in the Asher’s home. Mandy walked down the stairs and heading for the dining room. “Oh, you are up already? Was thinking that you were planning on taking the day off today.” Mandy turned to see Grandpa Asher seated with an English breakfast served before him while he was reading the newspaper. “Like I have time for a day off.” Mandy snorted, rolling her eyes. “Why don't you join me? I am sure breakfast with this old man won't get you fired from your own company.” Asher teased with a soft smile. Mandy walked up to her grandfather and sat down beside him while maids hurried to serve her breakfast. “How was your night? Hope you are getting enough rest?” Mandy turned to the man who asked the question with eyes as wide as saucers. “What's with that look?” “Grandpa… did you do anything? Do you want anything? Perhaps you need a personal favor from me?” Mandy asked, tilting her head. “And why the hell would you say that? And can’t an old man care for t

May walked out of the elevator heading towards Mandy's office with a smile. She noticed the office door open and saw a familiar figure walk out of the office bearing a smile. “Timo?!” The man turned at the name and his smile widened as he saw May walking up to her. “May! A pleasure to see you here… well, I guess I will be expecting to see you here more often especially now that you are now in a partnership with the Ashers.” “What the hell are you doing here? Did you have a business with the Ashers?” “Ahh, yes. Came in a few minutes ago to meet up with the woman in charge.” “Well, I have work to do but it is nice seeing you early this morning.” May said. “Likewise.” Timothy replied. “Have fun and don't try to stress yourself too much.” May walked past Timo and headed towards the office door where she knocked softly before entering. Mandy looked at the door and saw May walking in with a smile on her face. “Looks like someone woke up on the right side of the bed this morning

Timothy was back at his office when his phone rang. Timothy looked at his ringing phone and broke into a small smile. He reached for it and answered. “So, what happened?” He asked into the phone. “Well, I asked her and she agreed.” Mandy's voice came through the phone. “Well, it was expected… and I must say, thank God that she did, if she had said no, it would have gone bad for us.” Timothy replied with a chuckle. “But she didn't even think about it. I just threw the question and she agreed. What if—.” “Don't worry about that Asher. If I am sure of anything, it is the fact that May hates Declan… even more than you.” Timothy said with a tone of confidence. “Think of everything she has been put through by him and what he has done to you… if anything at all then compare. She hates him as much as he should hate us… if not more.” “Well, I guess you are right. So I am hosting a party to announce your merging… a gala if you will and I suspect May will invite you to it.” “She mentio

Aren't they coming?” Timo asked, watching as May walked up towards him alone. “They will be coming later on. I told them I would be leaving with you.” May replied. “You look beautiful tonight.” Timo said, stepping aside to open the door for her. “I really am a lucky man.” May blushed and looked away from him with a tinge of embarrassment in her heart. “You don't look bad yourself.” She said as Timo climbed behind the wheel. “I guess I don't.” He replied with a chuckle before starting the engine. “So,I don't suppose you know the venue of the gala?” “Of course I do. Just head for the Ashers industries. It's close from there.” May replied chuckling. During the drive, May pulled out her phone and stared at the screen that displayed Declan's

The next morning, Declan walked down the stairs while rubbing his eyes softly. He headed straight for the living room where he could hear the sounds from the television. “Good morning mother.” He greeted walking into the room. Elizabeth turned her head and watched Declan sit down opposite her. “Good morning Kazuka. Hope you slept well?” She asked with a soft smile. “Yes.” Declan nodded before turning his attention to the news on the television. “I saw the news. It seems the Ashers are enjoying their time alone.” Elizabeth said. “They are using May.” Declan balled his hands into fist. “They are actually smart… not like I didn't see that coming.” “Is that why you were awake last night? I remember it was already past midnight and the lights of your study were still on.” “Mother, you were meant to be resting. You might be better from your sickness but you need more rest before you are fully recovered.” Declan said, looking at his mother in worry. “I am fine.” Elizabeth waved

He stared at it for a few seconds before answering the call. “I believe this should be the guy sent to the Evans family.” “Y..yes sir.” A soft feminine voice came from the other end of the phone. “Ahh, so they sent a female.” Declan said, bobbing his head up and down softly. “What do you have for me? And why are you stuttering?” “Pardon me sir, but I had to sneak off to make this report. I am currently at the company now acting as the personal secretary of the heir.” “The personal secretary… you really are competent.” “Well, I have yet to figure out relevant information but Brock had told me to put attention towards Zendaya Evans.” “I am listening.” “Well, nothing has taken place here. I have no ill feelings towards you.” Zita said with a chuckle. “What can I say? Besides, you can't blame me; it's not everyday a strange lady walks into your office without a prior appointment or meeting.” May replied and Zita shrugged. “So. How may I help you Miss Max?” “Please call me Zita. And you don't have to be that stuck up about my presence.” Zita replied. May shook her head with an unnoticeable grit of her teeth before rising from her chair. “Well, would you care to drink Zita? Perhaps whiskey or Vodka?” “Don't you have scotch wine?” Zita sighed. “I guess whiskey… and with ice.” May walked up to a win

He walked into the dining room and grabbed the coffee pot for the machine and poured himself a cup. “Hmm, a cup of coffee first thing in the morning… who are you and what have you done with my Kazuka?” Declan turned to see his mother seated at the table with a plate of toasts and fruits before her. “Good morning mother.” Declan said, walking up to her. May climbed out of the car walking towards Declan with her hands slightly raised. “Mandy, you don't need to do this.” She said softly. “You can just tell your men to leave and we can all just forget that something like this ever happened.” “Shut up!” Mandy snapped, turning her glare to May who shuddered under the killing intent that Mandy poured out. “This is all his fault. May's eyes widened in shock. She looked at the man who looked nothing above his early thirties before shaking her head in disbelief. “So you are old? A hundred?” She asked, still in doubt. “Can we not put a number on it? Surprised that I am around your grandpa’s age?” Declan asked with an amused look. “Shocked? Declan, you don't look a day above thirty five.” She replied before reaching for her glass of wine. “Well, I suppose it was one of the reasons families decided to go against us. Certain families after discovering our secret became afraid. I suppose that was the reason the Deckers family decided to launch Project K-11. They wanted to make soldiers that could match our prowess which as you should know ended in failure while claiming the lives of many people. Four families… all jealous of the power we had decided to band against us and send us out of the city that we had built as a home for ourselves. They had even nailed the blame of Project K-11 on our family and after som

‘Reporting the death of the patriarch of the Asher family, Asher Keaton was reported dead having passed away yesterday in the early hours of the afternoon.’ Declan looked at the news on the television before turning to the phone in his hand. He had over a dozen missed calls from Mandy which he suspected was for him to chew him out. He turned to the maid and pointed at the wine shelf before turning back to the news. ‘News reaching the media now is pointing towards the Asher industries about another of their multiple evil deeds against the city. A construction scandal done towards a project of building a city facility which was supposedly done with fake materials.’ ‘Experts are being brought in to investigate the nature of the materials used to build the facility.’ ‘The Asher industries are also said to be on the very brink of bankruptcy with their stocks fallen before the twenty-five percent mark.’ “This is actually a very good cause for one to celebrate.” Declan said, reaching fo

Mandy looked around the office with a heavy sigh before going back to the work she was handling on her laptop. It has been a week since May had announced her innocence and sued the Asher to court. The trial had gone against them, making them pay over a hundred and fifty million in compensation at the demand of the Williams. After that, bits and bits of the company's confidential data happened to find their way into the social media giving them a black name among the public. The company stocks had fallen by over forty seven percent and it wasn't rising back, leaving the company a few steps away from folding due to bankruptcy. Her attention is drawn away when the door of her office opens letting Asher in. “Another one has been released.” He said with a bitter smile on his face. “This is getting worse than I expected.” Mandy groaned and slumped back against her chair in despair. She blamed everything on Declan… it was all his fault all for a pointless revenge due to an old injury

Mandy sipped from the glass in her hand, her gaze fixed on the television before her. On the table before her, some files laid open with a pad at the edge of the table. ‘An announcement has been scheduled this afternoon for the public residents of the city. The host of the announcement is non either than May Williams -.’ “Pfft!.” Mandy spilled out a mouthful of wine onto the files in front of her. She gazed at the screen in shock… May was alive meaning that Declan must have either saved her or the men weren't able to get to her in time. Either way, her plan had been flunked. She exhaled and gripped the glass in her hand till it shattered spilling over the floor. She stood up from the couch and walked out. At the other side of the city, May looked around and exhaled softly. She was in the Williams industries and was surrounded by different reporters that she had invited for an announcement. She turned towards a corner of the hall where a figure dressed in black with its face
