Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty-Four

"Well, the ring was still from him. But more like a gift."

May's voice was low this time as she spoke. She returned to the living room to pick up the ring.

"Drop it.”

Clara snapped and May flinched.

"Why?"

"Because no one gives out a diamond engagement ring as a gift."

There was silence in the room after Clara's words.

"So what are you trying to say mom?"

May asked , turning to her mom fully. Clara did not speak immediately but began to pace the floor of the room.

"I feel uneasy and for some weird reason I think Declan might be right."

May said with a tone of disappointment.

May asked, folding her arms across her chest.
