After eliminating the four cyborgs, Nouel sheathed both swords back in the sheaths that were behind her back, right inside her armor. He also looked around, using a hologram scanner to make sure all the cyborgs he was fighting were disabled, or indirectly it could be said to be dead.
The fight is certainly not over, the sounds of gunfire can still be heard clearly from a distance, whether its shots fired by the enemy or those fired by his team members.
Just finished doing a scan which indicated that there was no life from the enemies, suddenly there was a strong shake there along with a loud explosion sound.
“Tch.” Nouel then jumps towards the top floor, with the technology he has, he can jump more than four meters high, easily, Nouel can reach the top floor, then walks towards the hollow wall where he previously received an explosive attack.
Nouel immediately touched his communication device. “Report, what happened?”
“Captain, suddenly there was an explosion everywhere.” Veliant from across there replied.
“Looks like this building is about to be demolished.” Azrael gave a report, her voice panicked.
“What about the status of the rebels?” Nouel asked again, he walked quite casually, glancing around where the battle marks seemed to have a lot of damage and gunshot holes.
That's when there was another shock along with the sound of an explosion.
“Drax, what happened? Didn't I secure the trap?” asked Nouel turning to the man.
“Sorry, captain, this one is the bomb they threw.” Drax replied.
“Unlucky.”
“Me and Blaicer are working on this, we're outside the building.”
“Okay, you guys handle it.”
“Some of them retreated, the rest, they were like they weren't afraid to die, these troops... they kept advancing on us.” Veliant returned to report.
“Seriously, what creatures are they?” said Azreal asking a question, sounding very surprised.
Nouel then told them. “Those people are cyborgs, they are remotely controlled.”
“What?” asked the two men in unison.
Before anyone could wonder, Nouel immediately gave them an order. “Putting that aside, this building will likely be completely blown up, start evacuating your troops.”
“Copy that.” They answered in unison.
After giving orders to his subordinates. Nouel, who had arrived at the area where he first received an explosive attack, immediately found his weapon that had slipped from his grip.
“Here it seems.” After picking up the weapon again, Nouel immediately ran towards the source of the sound of the gunfire that was still going on.
Nouel ran so fast that in a relatively short time, he arrived at the location where I shot. It looked like Vera was being overwhelmed, she was being pushed by several enemies who kept shooting at her, the girl herself was taking cover behind a pillar that was quite large, though still, that part of the pillar was gradually eroded by the cyborgs' shots. “No wonder he didn't answer, apparently he was busy.”
Nouel activated aim when his advanced glasses operated, thereafter, without hesitation, he immediately entered the battlefield, shooting one by one the cyborgs who didn't notice their arrival.
Every shot Nouel fires causes the cyborg that is hit to collapse instantly, goes into a seizure as if being electrocuted, then stops moving. When three or four of the cyborgs fell, the other four that were previously focused on Vera immediately turned towards Nouel.
Instead of shooting at them, Nouel immediately put his gun to his back, then dashed over, he activated his shield just in time as the cyborgs fired successive shots at him.
“Thank you for coming, I thought I would die!” exclaimed Vera when she saw Nouel coming forward. She came out of hiding, then opened fire on the cyborgs to provide assistance from afar.
“You should use your cyborg abilities against them!” Nouel replied, when his shield was deactivated, he drew one of his swords, then immediately jumped looking at the iron beam on the floor towards one of the cyborgs, then used the sword to block another shot along with the iron beam that hit the cyborg.
Another cyborg jumped down from above in front of Nouel, once they were face to face, the cyborg fired continuous shots at him. Nouel himself dashed forward, slashing every single bullet that was fired at him.
Once within reach, he intended to cut the cyborg, but the cyborg man avoided it, turned around and then hit Nouel with his firearm. After hitting Nouel's head, the cyborg spun its weapon, then smashed it against Nouel's chest.
When the weapon was about to be released again, Nouel had already stabbed the cyborg's hand until it was red, then released a right kick to the cyborg man's chest, making him take a few steps back, then Nouel ran forward and released a slash that made the cyborg fall.
It didn't end there, Nouel turned his gaze then threw his sword at one of the cyborgs who were still above, the sword directly stabbed the cyborg's chest, making it fall down. Nouel himself activated his shield again when several bullets shot towards him.
Nouel walked towards one last cyborg while pulling his gun, the cyborg also moved forward while continuing to fire. The two of them kept walking while firing shots at each other, the cyborg's bullets kept hitting the armor Nouel was wearing, as well as the regular bullets that Nouel's weapon released, the bullets kept hitting the cyborg's chest, which turned out to be protected by quite thick metal.
The two of them continued to shorten the distance until, at about six feet away, they stopped shooting as each ran out of bullets.
“Tch, run out of bullets.” Nouel immediately put his weapon back on his back.
The cyborg threw away his weapon, then clenched it, he jumped towards Nouel about to throw a punch, but with a very fast movement, Nouel drew one remaining sword and then released a slash that split the cyborg's body in two.
“I'm sorry, I'm tired of fist fights.” Nouel mutters while twirling his sword around. Vera approached while carrying a sword that Nouel had previously thrown.
“Huh, all done. I didn't expect them to be too strong.” He muttered as he twirled the weapon around before sheathing it back into his armor.
“Captain, are you okay?” asked Vera as she threw the sword she brought back to its owner.“Good enough,” Nouel replied as he caught the hilt of the sword. Then he sheathed his two swords.
“Why are you even fighting head-on? I thought you were going to shoot them all with that one.”
Nouel also showed his gun, the shooter. “It's just a prototype, a little risky for me if I overuse it.”
“Really?”
“That's it, that's why I did it manually.” His gaze then shifted to all the fallen cyborgs. “Besides, I have no preparation to fight the cyborgs.”
“What did you get?”
“Nothing, it seems the masterminds of all this have fled, I found a computer that had all its data wiped. There is no boss of these rebels, we got nothing, all traces, and records have been erased, whatever they are doing here, seems critical, bottom line is we got nothing.” Vera immediately provided the details that she got while Nouel was fighting alone.
“It's a little disappointing.”
“Speaking of which, how come we never heard of any other cyborg troop aside from us? Do they come from other groups who are also developing technology like us?” asked Vera, feeling curious because unexpectedly they were actually fighting the rebels in cyborg form.
“I don't know, what's clear is something new.”
At that moment, there was a shock which now made the ceiling start to fall.
“I think it's time for us to leave here,” said Nouel as he put his weapon back down.
“Agree.”
The two immediately ran out of the area together. Just five seconds apart from their escape, an explosion occurred. Because Nouel and Vera have faster running speeds than normal humans, they can run away of being chased by such powerful fire explosions.
They ran along the passage as fast as they could, in front of them was a huge window with closed glass, the window was still quite far for an ordinary human.
Nouel and Vera were sent flying by the massive explosion behind them. Both of them were thrown several meters away through a closed glass window, their bodies were thrown outside the building which turned out to be on the second floor, both of them landed on the street with a bang. Even so, they did not suffer significant injuries.
There was an explosion that immediately threw all parts of the building away, Nouel immediately created a shield as protection for himself and Vera, he was just in time when the rubble of the building was thrown towards them.
The building was blown to pieces, dust, and debris flying everywhere.
Nouel saw many victims lying helpless around the area of the explosion, including some members of their troops.“Unlucky.”

The mission taken is considered successful because the rebel forces have been successfully cleaned. As a result of the explosion of the building, several members of the Wolf Team were injured, they did not die because the location was outside the explosion range, even though they were still injured. Since no one died, Nouel didn't have to mourn. Therefore, the day after the mission was completed, Nouel, who had no injuries, chose to go to the room where Professor Volkov and his team, who were the special forces' information technology team, were.Nouel sits in front of a large screen showing the vision camera footage of the cyborgs. He is currently joining a team of professionals skilled in data identification and analysis. They are examining the footage closely, looking for clues to the identity of the rebel group that was attacked by an army of armed cyborgs. While watching what was going on, no one spoke between them, all of them focused on looking at the screen that was showing al
The day passed, Nouel, feeling too lazy to cook, headed to a restaurant to satisfy his hunger. Fortunately, this morning he didn’t have any appointments, so he could relax a bit. As the leader of the Wolf Team, he usually had a lot on his plate, but this morning was an exception.Nouel left his apartment that morning, wearing glasses with dark blue lenses. Something unusual was happening to him, perhaps due to yesterday’s mission or for some other reason. As he entered the elevator, descending floor by floor, Nouel’s vision started to conjure up images he had never experienced before. It began with scenes from his life with a young man who was his friend, then encounters with people who didn’t exist in the present.“AI,” Nouel immediately activated his AI Assistant, which he had created to assist with tasks and activities.“Yes, Nouelvaegnr, how can I assist you?” the AI asked in a female voice.“Scan my brain, check for any side effects from yesterday’s mission. I feel like the enemy
Not wanting to get involved in something useless and unimportant, he walked past the group of teenagers. There was a park not far from there. That's where he was heading to spend his time. The city park was a place where the residents enjoyed recreation, with various entertainment and sports facilities available, both personal equipment and public facilities, used by the city's residents.Nouel bought a drink that had a slight bluish glow when in the dark."How do cyborgs like this detergent water?" Nouel commented on the drink. He shook his head, closed the bottle, and continued walking towards the field where teenagers were performing tricks with hoverboards. The objects they used were like skateboards but without wheels, hovering about half a meter above the ground as platforms. These boards were not cheap due to their design, shape, and the machinery that had to be adjusted to the user's size and weight.Nouel sat on the stairs where other spectators were seated around the steps.
Upon arriving at the headquarters, Nouel immediately met with Professor Volkov. Without wasting any time, he greeted Vera with a warm welcome. Vera found Nouel’s behavior somewhat peculiar, as he didn’t immediately rush to meet his superior. However, Professor Volkov’s warm reception made it clear that they had a good and close relationship.“Vera, how have you been?” Professor Volkov asked, his gaze warm and gentle. From their interaction, it was clear that they had a good and close relationship.Smiling at the greeting, Vera responded politely, “I’ve been very well, as you can see.”“Don’t hesitate to talk to me if something doesn’t feel right,” said Professor Volkov, sounding like a father figure wanting to help his daughter.“I will.” Vera replied, nodding her head.Nouel interrupted their conversation, getting straight to the point. “Volkov, how’s the progress on examining those cyborgs?” Nouel’s way of speaking to the middle-aged man was casual, as if they were peers and held si
Nouel lives in an apartment that has an expensive price. This apartment is intended for people who have a lot of wealth, businessmen who have large finances. Nouel himself is not lacking in money, as a genius and as a special forces officer serving the country, he has a large income, it is only natural that he lives in a residence that has luxurious facilities. The floor of this apartment is covered with black marble tiles which look very elegant. To the left, there is a living room furnished with a large, comfortable white leather sofa. In the middle of the living room, there is a futuristic coffee table with a holographic display that presents information about the weather, current news, and so on.Beautiful city views can be seen through the tall glass windows that surround the living area. These glass windows also allow sunlight to enter the room, giving a broad and bright impression. The master bedroom is at the end of the apartment, with great views of the city from the large wi
Nouel awoke from his slumber, breathing heavily, cold sweat trickling down his forehead. Dreams of his deceased friend always disturbed him, although Nouel wasn’t a sentimental person and didn’t prioritize emotions, it still affected him.Getting up from his bed, Nouel sat in the living room of his apartment. He stared out the open window, letting the cool morning breeze caress his face. The day was bright, thanks to the protective dome over the city, filtering the dangerous sunlight while maintaining its benefits.Suddenly, Nouel recalled one of his last conversations with Dvliericht, his late friend. They sat on Dvliericht’s backyard terrace, enjoying a cup of tea brewed by Dvliericht’s mother.“You know, I want to become a doctor,” Dvliericht said enthusiastically.Nouel, with a bored expression, replied, “I’ve known that for a while, you talk about it too often.”Nouel’s response made Dvliericht smile.“Out of all aspirations, why a doctor?” Nouel asked, appearing surprised.Dvlie
Nouel shifted his body, launching an attack towards the source of the person’s appearance. The vertical hand swing was swift, but the person who emerged easily anticipated the attack, catching Nouel’s fist as effortlessly as if it were a toddler’s punch. At that moment, Nouel recognized that the one who arrived and thwarted his attack was Vera, a team member who indirectly served as his right hand. Nouel hadn’t noticed her arrival, perhaps due to being engrossed in his thoughts.“Is this your way of welcoming guests, Captain?” Vera greeted him with a smile.Nouel lowered his guard, then withdrew his hand from Vera’s grasp.“Why are you here?” Nouel inquired, not surprised but rather curious as to why the girl suddenly appeared in his kitchen. It’s worth mentioning that Nouel’s apartment had a high-security system, preventing just anyone from entering. However, for a cyborg with advanced technology like Vera, bypassing the apartment’s security was no challenge.“I wanted to invite you
The helicopter that picked them up from the apartment has landed. After donning the necessary gear for the mission, Nouel set off. He had equipment stored at the base and some in his apartment. Since the new drone, now a support weapon, was ready, he utilized armor equipment with a mount indicating the locations of those drones. The helicopter was the same one used for previous transports, taking the team on their missions. They boarded and took their seats as the helicopter promptly lifted off.Inside the helicopter, Nouel began inspecting the equipment and weapons he had prepared, ensuring everything was functional and ready for use when needed.“By the way, how do you spell your friend’s name? I’ve been struggling to pronounce it since the pickup helicopter arrived,” Vera resumed the conversation that had paused when the pickup helicopter came. Earlier, Nouel had discussed a friend with a challenging name.Nouel shrugged. “It does sound difficult. It takes practice and a specific a
Nouel was in the garbage area, in a slum district where there was a massive landfill site originating from various areas, especially the city center, resulting in the landfill site being mountainous. The landfill site was located outside the city walls, and Nouel had already made a hole to enter and exit the city through a secret passage.“What are you doing here?” Dvliericht asked, having managed to catch up. He looked uncomfortable walking on the pile of trash, his gas mask protecting his entire face and head looked worn out and unfit for use.“Looking for the trash I need.” Nouel answered without looking, digging through the garbage. Since Nouel had been forced to stay in the shelter by Dvliericht, the two young men had developed a close friendship, despite having very different and somewhat contradictory personalities.Dvliericht placed his hands on his hips and scanned the surroundings. “We shouldn’t be here, if the city patrol catches us, it could be dangerous.”“In that case, k
Armed with his newly acquired weapon, Xander began attacking the pursuing robot troops. Thanks to his long experience, Xander could shoot accurately, causing the robots to fall one by one. He took precise aim, picking off the robots one by one.“Wow, you’re really good, so accurate with your shots.” Velia praised and appreciated Xander’s actions through the earpiece.“It’s not enough yet, there are still some robots evading my attacks!” Xander exclaimed, then explosions were heard, destroying the walls of the long corridor.“Keep it up, Xander, we’re approaching the exit!” Velia cheered, seeing that their exit route was close ahead.“Of course, I’ll keep attacking until all the ammo is gone!”When the rover vehicles finally reached the end of the escape route, they immediately halted. Xander and several others hurriedly got out of the rover and attempted to close off the escape route. They collectively tried to seal off the passage. Some others disembarked and headed towards the aircr
Inside the underground headquarters, after Xander delivered this information, everyone immediately started packing, which naturally took a very long time as everyone was unprepared for evacuation.“The aircraft is completed, but it hasn’t been tested yet. Should we still go?” Dimitri asked, concerned about the aircraft’s condition, which hadn’t undergone testing yet.“Yes, we don’t have time anymore. Regardless of the aircraft’s condition, we’ll use it. It’s risky, but we have no other choice.” Makarov replied.“Let’s hope we make it.”Elsewhere, inside a large cargo aircraft, Volkov and his forces of robots and cyborgs, who were aware of the underground building being used as a headquarters, were preparing for their attack.“See, I told you this would work.” Clerick smirked evilly at Darina. “Instead of capturing and torturing one of them, it’s much better if we follow them discreetly and install a tracker on the target.”That’s how Volkov found out about the secret project being wor
June 9, 2094Time passed quickly, years went by, and humans had grown accustomed to synthetic food. Numerous factories were established in all four cities, and cyborg projects began to be implemented. Initially, it was limited to body parts like hands and legs, then expanded to organs like eyes. After the success of the project applied to Vera, cyborgs started to appear all over the city.Due to the special requirements for humans to endure the surgical process, the limited number of cyborgs created across the city meant they weren’t dominant yet. Only a few hundred existed, mostly composed of city security forces, not commercially available to ordinary residents. Therefore, despite the success, Volkov continued experiments and developments to make the cyborgs he created more perfect and applicable to all humans. While working on advancing cyborg technology, Volkov accidentally discovered several individuals recruited by Dimitri and Makarov. He was surprised by this development becaus
For several days, Vera refused to eat, she continued to rage. Although she couldn’t get up and walk, her hands were still healthy, and she tried every way to end her life. She was depressed and desperate with her life. Some time later, Volkov came and comforted her. However, Vera didn’t respond, despite being continuously ignored like that, Volkov kept trying to console and strengthen her resolve.“I know you’re very desperate with your body condition. But you can’t torture yourself like this continuously.” Volkov spoke gently and softly, truly reflecting like a man who could be relied upon by Vera, who really needed it.After ignoring Volkov for a while, Vera finally spoke up, asking him a question. “Professor, what would you do if you were in my position?”For a moment, Volkov didn’t respond, he glanced briefly out the window, then turned his attention back to Vera, calmly and softly speaking to the teenage girl. “I think I would also feel desperate, and I would also want to die. Bu
Thanks to advanced medical technology, Vera, who suffered serious injuries due to Darina’s actions, was able to regain consciousness quickly. Severe injuries that should have put the teenage girl in a coma turned out to heal much faster. Unfortunately, there were still limitations in the equipment and technology applied at the hospital, as they couldn’t yet cure serious injuries resulting in physical disabilities. And that’s what happened to Vera, the injuries she sustained left her whole body permanently disabled. For a few seconds, Vera glanced around, her eyes feeling very sore as she looked at the ceiling of the room. The light in the room wasn’t dazzling, yet Vera’s eyes still felt sore and irritated.Vera closed her eyes, trying to move to pull the blanket, but she had no access to her body, she couldn’t move any part of her body.“What’s this? I can’t move my body.”Vera tried to turn her head sideways, but she couldn’t do it, she couldn’t move her head even slightly. Failing i
Finnick, Darina, and Clerick were already in position, monitoring the movement of the electric car driven by the small family from a distance. Volkov himself was opening a transparent tab as if he were working on something.“Okay, I think the subject has taken the bait. I don’t see any other humans within a 1-mile radius, we can execute the mission now.” Darina murmured while observing the small family through the scope of the sniper rifle she was aiming at the car. She herself was lying prone on the rocks, positioning herself strategically for the attack.“Moreover, this area is highly prone to accidents,” Clerick replied, standing next to Volkov. They were amidst the trees of the forest, monitoring using long-range binoculars.“Yeah.”On the other side, atop a tree, Finnick was adjusting the control of the machine device he had created. “My puppet’s status is stable now, we can act anytime.” He informed.“Good work, wait for the signal.” Volkov replied. They spent a few more seconds
While Clerick was working, experiments were postponed. Darina and Volkov focused on being doctors at Hudson Hospital, they appeared very kind and friendly to the staff, nurses, and the patients they treated. This made no one suspicious or even think that they were evil people who had conducted various experiments that violated ethics and humanity. In addition to their friendly nature, their work was also very good and fast. Their surgical skills were very reliable and made them among the most trusted doctors. They also interacted quite a lot with every patient they treated, so almost all patients could get to know them well.Unbeknownst to them, two days had passed. This was the day when Clerick would present the results of his work.“Huh, it’s also enjoyable to train in acting by playing as a good and holy doctor.” Darina stretched her body. This time she was in the elevator going down to the lab, a man named Finnick who also worked there immediately shook his head.“I thought you’d
Hudson Hospital.A five-floor hospital, it was one of the major hospitals in Lycaelus City, admitting more than one new patient daily with various conditions. The hospital was always bustling with patients, and the number of nurses and medical staff working there was substantial. At this hospital, Ferdinand Volkov worked on his project. Whenever someone underwent amputation, they would be offered artificial limbs. Those who wanted to live normally would readily accept the offer. Similarly, those in need of organs would be offered either donor organ transplants or artificial organs. Since waiting for a donor or purchasing existing organs was costly, patients tended to opt for Volkov’s artificial organs. Besides being more affordable, easier to care for, these artificial organs and limbs had several advantages over those of regular humans. Gradually, over the years, Volkov’s cyborg project began to take shape.Unbeknownst to anyone, many of the surgeries to implant organs and artificial
