Chapter 06 – Cyborg Enemy Anomaly

The mission taken is considered successful because the rebel forces have been successfully cleaned. As a result of the explosion of the building, several members of the Wolf Team were injured, they did not die because the location was outside the explosion range, even though they were still injured. Since no one died, Nouel didn't have to mourn. Therefore, the day after the mission was completed, Nouel, who had no injuries, chose to go to the room where Professor Volkov and his team, who were the special forces' information technology team, were.

Nouel sits in front of a large screen showing the vision camera footage of the cyborgs. He is currently joining a team of professionals skilled in data identification and analysis. They are examining the footage closely, looking for clues to the identity of the rebel group that was attacked by an army of armed cyborgs.

While watching what was going on, no one spoke between them, all of them focused on looking at the screen that was showing all the scenes that were happening. Nouel also pays attention to details that he has missed so far.

Even so, he didn't think too much about those things, his main focus was on the rebel army that became cyborgs. After watching the scene for a while, the video ends.

“Cyborg, huh, this is something new.” A man named Ferdinand Volkov also noticed what Nouel was witnessing. The man, who was more than fifty years old, finally gave a comment, it just so happened that he and Nouel sat next to each other, making it easier for them to talk.

For the information, Ferdinand Volkov is the chief technology scientist who joined the government troop, his job is to identify all kinds of technology used by the troop were all distributed by the company NewTech Industries.

Volkov will also be tasked with identifying anomalies regarding other technologies, especially regarding technology that the enemy uses, so that with his presence, government troops can be greatly assisted.

“I've never seen an army of cyborgs on their side.” Professor Volkov added.

Nouel nodded his head. “Yes, this is my first time facing a rebel troop that are cyborgs. I also didn't notice this at first, it was only after seeing the way they moved and how they fought that I could assume they were cyborgs.”

“Yes, they are indeed difficult to recognize with their completely closed appearance, especially since they were damaged by the explosion.” Professor Volkov nodded slowly, agreeing with what Nouel said.

“It's like they deliberately wanted to cover up the trail of the soldiers who were killed.” Professor Volkov looked calculating.

“Really?” asked Nouel, turning to him. “Not to kill me and my entire army? Because the explosion was big.”

Professor Volkov shook his head, then turned back to Nouel. “I don't think the building explosion was for you guys, it was for them.”

“Sounds smart, although the execution is not good. These cyborg bodies are still alive.”

After what Nouel said, no one spoke again between them for a few seconds.

“What do you think?” asked Nouel, Professor Volkov was a middle-aged man whose hair was all white, but Nouel instead acted as if they were of the same age. “Do you have any guesses as to why there could be cyborgs from the rebels?” asked Nouel, clarifying the question he asked.

For a few seconds, Professor Volkov didn't say anything, he thought for a moment as if finding out and guessing about what had just happened. Until after that, he then opened his voice to answer Nouel's question.

“This ... maybe they already have adequate science or technology. This would be natural if they also had an army of cyborgs, only this is my guess,” said Professor Volkov, from his tone and expression, it seemed he was only expressing rough conjectures without calculations and research.

Nouel made a completely dissatisfied facial expression. “At this rate, we will become overwhelmed, they will gain the upper hand and be more difficult to deal with.”

“Yes, of course, for that, me and other teams may have to improve and look for the weaknesses they have. For now, me and the others will focus on identifying.”

“Yes, it should have been.”

After a few seconds of pause, Professor Volkov asked Nouel a question. “You have an estimate?”

In response to that question, Nouel shook his head weakly.

“I haven't gotten any proof yet, but a tentative guess is that they somehow managed to get hold of our technology. This conjecture is indeed too simplistic and lacks evidence, but that is all I can conclude. The problem is, the weapons they use are the same as those used by our cyborgs,” he said, giving a long explanation.

“I just realized about that, you're right, how come they have weapons like ours too?” asked Professor Volkov who looked as if he had just realized this.

“That's why, you have to get answers from all these things.” Nouel replied.

“Hmm, like that, the team is also carrying out identification of the bodies. Maybe tomorrow the results will be available.”

“Tomorrow?” Nouel repeated, raising an eyebrow, something that rarely every human being can do. Raising one eyebrow is not as easy as it seems.

“Yes.”

“Okay, if you say that, I will wait for the answer.”

“Wait?”

“Yeah, to be honest, I'm curious about what happened. Had I not been prepared, this army might have beaten me already.”

“Hmm, so it seems.”

The professional team is also conducting forensic analysis on evidence found at the scene, such as explosives and gun remains. Nouel follows their discussion carefully, trying to understand how the technology works and how to overcome it.

“You've done well, rest for the night.” Professor Volkov put his right hand on Nouel's shoulder. He appreciates the hard work Nouel has done for their city. Nouel himself didn't seem too concerned about this appreciation.

“I think you're right, it seems I'm a little tired.” After saying those words, Nouel then stood up.

“Don't worry, we'll provide information as soon as possible when we get anything.”

“Okay, I will wait.”

Nouel walked out of the room.

Because the business was over, moreover he had not received an answer from the anomaly, so Nouel decided to leave the place, he chose to go home, there's nothing wrong with taking time to rest.

The report regarding the details of the task has been submitted, apart from the corpse, there is nothing else to check, Nouel is free from this task, although he is not happy because the mission was declared a failure as a result of not getting any information, they did not even get a single member of the troop living rebel. Professor Volkov looked at Nouel's departure with a strange look and expression, then suddenly a voice came from behind him, making the man turn his head slightly surprised. It turned out that the hand of one of the corpses shifted.
