Nightmare Apocalypse

Prologue

Deep within a archaeological ruins in egypt, 2 men and a woman could be seen walking through a cave with runes and carvings on the surface.

"That was the last I hope" The woman said with tiredness as she took pictures of the runes and carvings on the wall.

"So how old do you think this place is, it looks so new and well kept" The first man asked with marvel.

"I can't give an accurate date because of how the place looks, it could be a hundred, thousand or even a million years for all I know" The woman said excitedly as she repeatedly took pictures of the runes.

"I have never seen these carvings before" The other man said as he traced the carvings with his hands.

"Hey be careful not to trigger a trap, these carvings are one of the oldest languages in the world and they tell a story of a terrifying being that once roamed the world, it says that the being was so powerful that it destroyed planets with a wave of its hand, it made this a game, it would find a planet and then release something on it, it doesn't say what it is, then watch as the inhabitants of the planets suffer as a form of entertainment but after many years, it was imprisoned and sealed into a tomb by a God, the rest is in an unknown language" The woman narrated the story in a melancholic tone.

"Well I guess that's the advantage of knowing 80 ancient languages" The first man said with a laugh as they continued exploring the cave until they came upon a large crevice which housed a small blue pool and at the bottom of the pool was a casket while on the side of the crevice were some carvings.

"It says that the pool absorbs the blood if the wicked and exposes their bad thoughts, it only allows the pure of heart to pass through" The woman read with an intrigued expression.

"What bullshit, you guys don't actually believe this right?" The first man said with a smile when he saw the slightly fearful expressions on their face.

"I don't know Tom, all this just sounds a little bit weird" the second man said with furrowed brows.

"What?, I am sure this was just put here to scare us, oh come on, Rebecca tell me you don't believe this?" The first man said in disbelief as they came upon a large pool at the with a casket at the bottom.

"Is this the fucking treasure, a freaking casket?, our friends died because of a casket" The man called Derek said in anger.

"This..." The second man also couldn't say anything as he stared at the casket.

"This isn't just any casket, watch carefully" The woman said with a smile as she picked up a pebble from the ground and immediately threw it into the pool which released sizzling sounds as it melted.

"Gulp, it's acid" The second man said with fear.

"That's not the point, the casket is in the middle of a pool which is acid, but it doesn't show any reaction, who knows how long it has been in there, the casket is definitely made of an unique material" Derek said in amazement.

"Yeah, I knew that" The second man said.

"How do we get the coffin out of the acid pool?" Derek asked with a thoughtful expression as he moved closer to the pool to observe.

"Well, why don't you go fetch" The second man said with an evil smile as he shoved Derek into the pool but as he did, he also tripped and fell into the pool.

"Oh, shit I am dying, somebody save me.." The second man shouted as he splashed around in the blue pool.

"You, you shoved into the pool to die, I will kill you" Derek said in rage as he swam towards the second man who stared at the pool in shock.

"Wait, why aren't we dead?, isn't this acid?, whew, I thought I was dead for sure, guess we were wrong" The second man said with relief.

"I have a bad feeling about this" The woman said with uneasiness, even with here years of experience she couldn't explain what was happening which made her uneasy.

"That doesn't change the fact that you just tried to murder me" Derek said with hatred and anger.

"I think you have to get out of the water" The woman said with an ugly expression.

"I am sorry for trying to kill you, I wasn't thinking straight, please forgive me" The second man said with fear.

"Guys" The woman said as she stared at the pool with fear.

"Sorry isn't going to change anything, I am someone who pays people back for whatever they do to me " Derek said with an evil smile as an evil thought crossed his mind as he approached the second man.

"Guys" The woman said again with a louder voice.

"I think we should focus on getting the treasure out first" The second man said as he backed away.

"Why don't I just kill you and take the treasure for myself" Derek laughed wickedly.

"GUYS!" The woman shouted when she saw that she was being ignored.

"What!" The two men answered uniformly as they stared at her.

"You need to get out of the pool, it just changed color, I feel like something bad is about to happen" The woman said hurriedly as the two men stared at the pool which had suddenly turned blood red in colour, they had been so distracted that they hadn't noticed the change.

"Oh shit, dammit I can't move" Derek said as he felt his body go limp.

"Me neither and the pool is starting to heat up, Hannah get us out" The second man screamed as he also felt his own body go limp and the temperature of the pool rise.

"I don't know what to do, what if I also fall into the pool, who is going to get the treasure out" The woman said with panic.

"Are you freaking kidding me right now, we are being cooked alive and all you are thinking about is treasure, what the hell!" Derek shouted in rage as veins bulged on his face.

"Oh shit, I am starting to sink, I don't want to die, I still haven't lived my life to the fullest, this isn't fair why isn't she the one in here" The second man said with anger as he and Derek started sinking until they could no longer be seen.

"Ronny?..Derek?" The woman called Hannah said with fear as she inched closer to the pool.

"Arrg" Hannah screamed as she saw bones pop up on the surface of the pool signifying that the two men had both died.

[The sacrifice of a million souls is complete]

"Who is that, show yourself, arrg my head" Hannah said with fear after hearing the voice but immediately after, her brain was suddenly assaulted by a huge wave of pain which caused her to lose consciousness.

Some hours later, the sound of footsteps could be heard as a team of highly trained soldiers appeared in the cave.

"Doctor Hannah, are you alright?" The captain of the soldiers said as he walked over to the body of the woman.

"Where am I?" Doctor Hannah asked weakly as she sat up.

"I don't know, you tell me, what happened to your partners" The captain asked as he helped her stand up.

"I don't know, arrg wait there was a pool with a coffin" Doctor Hannah said with a scream of pain as her memories flooded in.

"What are you talking about?, there is no pool but there is a coffin" The captain said with confusion as he pointed behind him where a coffin could be seen.

"What?, that's impossible there was a pool with this coffin inside, Derek and Ronny tried to get it but then the pool turned blood red and devoured them" Doctor Hannah recounted with fear in a rushed tone as she pointed at the coffin.

"I think you must have hallucinated all that but the question is, where are your teammates?" The captain asked.

"Dead...all..of them are dead...just for a stupid coffin" Doctor Hannah said before bursting into tears.

"Okay it's okay, let's go, you are going to be okay, take her and the coffin away" The captain said to the soldiers who immediately took her and the coffin away.

"What did you encounter that broke someone like you down" The captain muttered to himself as he looked around the the cave and then also left the cave.

Outside the archeological ruins, there were several private jets waiting for them and after all the soldiers boarded the planes, they immediately took off.
