Chapter 03

"That's... Zico!" When he saw Zico and his two men inside Ajisaka Store, Kelvin immediately hid behind a long cupboard inside the store while crouching down and peeking at the three of them. "Don't let them know that I'm here!"

Despite this, his sense of hearing could still catch the conversation between Zico and his two men.

"Boss, what happened to the mother and child, huh?" asked Zico's men on his right.

The man on his left replied, "They both must have—"

Zico immediately silenced his men's mouths while glaring. "Not so loud, you idiot!"

"Sorry, boss. Slipped up, hehe," said Zico's subordinate while scratching his head that wasn't itchy.

Hearing that, Kelvin immediately clenched his jaw and clenched his fists while saying to himself. "So they are the perpetrators of my mother's murder, huh?"

[System detected: Correct, Master. They were the ones who destroyed the bridge that Master's mother traveled on with a bomb.]

Hearing the system also say so, Kelvin immediately asked the system silently. "System, so you can also know what I'm saying silently, huh?"

[Yes, Master. The system has merged with Master's body. So, whatever Master has in mind, the system knows.]

"Then, from now on I will chat with you through my mind only, so that no one knows that I have a system."

[Alright, Master. That's how it should be.]

Kelvin observed that Zico and his two men had left the shop. He breathed a sigh of relief as he whispered, "Good, they're gone."

After that Kelvin immediately got up from his squat, then he immediately rushed to buy all the school supplies he needed, such as: student council uniforms, bags, books, and others. Because, all of his school supplies had been washed away by the collapsed bridge, and some of them were burned. So, Kelvin had to buy new school supplies.

Kelvin took a shopping cart, then he wandered around the store looking for the items he wanted to buy. When he was done, he brought all the items to the cashier to make a payment transaction.

The cashier scanned the items that Kevin bought and then packed them in boxes. When she was done she said, "That's $40."

"Okay, one second." Kelvin took the money from his pants pocket, then handed $40 to the cashier.

The cashier graciously accepted Kelvin's money while handing Kelvin the items that had been packed in the box. "Thank you. Please come again!"

Kelvin took the item, and then he left the shop.

Now his goal was to find an inn. However, when he wanted to ask the people around here, the system suddenly said.

[Master doesn't need to ask people. The system knows all the locations in this place. If Master wants to find the nearest inn, Master can just go straight ahead. About 60 meters ahead there is an inn by the roadside.]

"Oooh, I see. Alright, I'll be there." Kelvin resumed his steps. He walked straight down this street as directed by the system.

[If Master has trouble carrying items, Master can store the items in the System Inventory.]

"No need. We'll be at the inn soon," Kelvin replied. He still continued walking without stopping his steps.

Not long after, Kelvin saw a banner that read 'Inn' about 15 meters in front of him. He immediately hurried to speed up his steps, then turned his head to the left. It was true what the system said that it was an inn.

Kelvin walked towards the inn. After arriving at the door, he pressed the bell button next to the door.

It wasn't long before the door opened to reveal a woman in her thirties. The woman kindly asked, "Would you like to stay here?"

"Yes. I want to stay here for two weeks." Kelvin answered like this because he had predicted that within two weeks after this, he would already have some money earned from the system to buy a house.

As if she could read Kelvin's mind, the innkeeper said, "This inn has been without customers for a long time. Actually, I've been planning to sell this inn, because I want to move."

The woman then went on to offer, "If you're willing to buy this house, I'm selling it for $10,000."

Hearing that, Kelvin thought that he would most likely be able to buy this house after running a few missions. You see, just this afternoon, he had already earned $700 for just one mission, let alone 10 missions or 20 missions, so you can imagine how much money he would earn.

After thinking about it, Kelvin said, "Okay, I'm willing to buy your house. However, it will take me about two or three weeks to raise that much money."

"Alright, that's fine. I'll wait for it." The innkeeper was actually a little surprised when she heard the boy who she thought was so young say that he wanted to raise that much money. However, judging from his clothes, this child looked like a rich man's son.

"Please come in! I'll take you to your room!" the woman said kindly. In her mind, she was thinking that Kelvin was a rich kid, so she should treat him as friendly as possible.

"Thank you!" said Kelvin.

"Come, follow me!" The woman walked first, and Kelvin nodded and followed her. He walked up the stairs to the second floor.

After reaching the top, on this second floor Kelvin saw four rooms whose doors were all closed.

The woman said, "You can choose any room you want, all the rooms here are empty because there have been no customers staying here for a long time."

"Well, thank you, I'd like to rest soon," Kelvin replied, after which the woman headed back downstairs again, while Kelvin went to one of the rooms.

When he opened the room, he found it dirty and full of dust. Probably because it hadn't been cleaned in a long time.

"Turns out this innkeeper is lazy, huh?" Kelvin muttered softly.

[Ding Ding.]

[New mission: Clean the room.]

[Reward: $1000.]

[Mission time: 2 hours.]

[Mission status: In progress.]

Getting a new mission from the system, the corners of Kelvin's lips lifted upwards. "Wooaah! Apparently, cleaning the room is also a mission, huh?"

[The system will always give Master a mission every day. So, no matter what Master does, if it is a mission from the system, then Master will get a reward from the system. However, if what Master does is not a mission from the system, then Master will not get a reward from the system.]

"Ooh, so it's like that, huh?" Kelvin nodded his head, indicating that he understood what the system had just explained. "In that case, I'll quickly clean this room before time runs out."

Kelvin immediately rushed to pick up the broom that was in the corner of the room, then he cleaned the room with vigor. Not only did he get the comfort of sleeping in a clean place, but he also got a reward from the system. He organized the items in the room neatly. Not only that, but he also organized his belongings that he had bought at the Ajisaka Store earlier, such as: school supplies, clothes, bags, and all of that he put in their respective places.

In less than half an hour, Kelvin had finished cleaning his room. However, since there was still plenty of time left, he decided to clean three other rooms besides the one he was going to stay in.
