14. To Take You Home!

Standing outside his mansion and swelling with pride at having finally gotten his home back, Gavin hailed a cab to take him to the Stallions. He was ready to face them and make it clear that he was far from wretched.

"Where are you alighting, sir?" the cab driver asked politely.

"Riverview Estate," Gavin replied, still basking in the moment.

After a few minutes' drive, the cab driver spoke again. "We're here, sir," he said, stepping on the brakes right in front of the estate.

Gavin stepped out of the car, a broad smile on his face. He almost forgot that he hadn't paid the cab driver yet.

"Sir, you haven't paid me," the cab driver reminded him gently.

"Oh, right. My apologies," Gavin said, quickly reaching into his pocket and handing over the fare. He nodded in thanks before turning to face the imposing entrance of Riverview Estate, ready to confront the Stallions with newfound confidence.

"Thank you, sir," the cab driver said as he drove off.
