"Is that not Meghan?" James said excitedly having spotted her. Harry turned around to see what James was talking about and saw his soon to be sister-in-law seemingly trying to stop a taxi."Aw, look at her. She doesn't even have a car because she is married to that broke oaf." Harry sneered."Hey, that's my future wife you're talking about. Try to show a little bit more respect." James said inspite of himself."You're funny," Harry remarked cheekily. "What are you going to do now? Don't tell me—""Harry, I'm sorry," James apologized. "But please can you do this one thing for me? Take a cab home, or better yet, call one of your drivers to come pick you. I intend to go drop her off at her destination myself." "What? I figured you'd do this, you sly dog," noted Harry, looking really pissed at his friend wanting to abandon him for a woman."Like I said, I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you some other day, please do not get angry, even though I know you're already pissed. I need to make a n
"Well," Meghan prepared to start her tale on what exactly was the case with her. She gripped tightly the edges of her dress, seemingly shy to say the least in bringing her problems to the young man whom she was with at the time. Her eyes were fixed to the floor.James had one eye on the road and one eye on her. He held his words, not wanting to say anything at the time that would stop her from spilling what she had already told him to be a long story."You see, my family wants me to secure a deal for them, and if I don't do so, they will—" She cut her long story short there. Any other words and it would have been a little bit too much for her to be pouring into the ears of James, someone who had already declared interest in her. Still the same someone who her husband was quite uncomfortable with. She couldn't say more."It's okay, you shouldn't tell me if it is going to be like I am forcing you to. I don't want to be that person to you." James put as much effort sounding like he care
"And here we are, at the bank," James said, stopping the car for Meghan to alight. "Thank you," she said as she came down from the car about to go into the bank. "I really appreciate you." "It's fine," James said in a cheeky manner. "It's all good when it's about helping a beautiful woman like you." Meghan blushed at his compliment. "You ought to stop, I am a married woman," she said."Surely you don't think that a married woman doesn't deserve to be complimented and praised do you?" He asked. "Well that would be a shame.""I'm just letting you know once again, just in case you forget what I am," she said. She was a little more serious in tone this time. She looked at the watch on her wrist and she immediately got a sense of urgency, which showed on her face in a look of anxiousness."Is anything the matter?" James asked."No. Not really. I just have to go now before the bank closes." She replied him without looking up towards his face."Oh, of course," James said. "You go do that.
In the comforts of his home, James also made his call, believing that the men he had in the bank would grant him his wish."Hello, Max," he said as the recipient of his call picked up the phone. "Yes, hello James. What exactly is the problem now?" Max asked.James chuckled, almost even laughing sporadically. "Why would you think that there is a problem?" "Because you only call me when you have a problem you want to fix, James. That is not something you can deny any more.""Okay, I admit that I might have done that before, but that doesn't mean that it is what I always do when I call you."There was no answer from Max. It was almost as if he was trying to get James to admit to the truth himself."Spill it, James," he said at once. "I really don't have time right now. I'm at work. There are a lot of customers, so I don't think I can spend any more minutes pandering to you.""Oh you have become quite stiff have you not, Max?" James said to him in a sort of mocking manner. "But fine, I
A few minutes before James had made his call to Max, Meghan was already in the bank, the cold air from the air-conditioning system blew on her face, just as well as the pleasant looks of the workers caught her off guard."Welcome miss, how can we help you today?” A woman at the door said with a big smile stretched across her happy face. She was surprised at how friendly the woman looked and assumed that this could possibly be a good sign."Oh, can you please take me to the customer care. I would like to see them.""Okay, ma'am. I will do just that for you. You do not have to worry about it."Meghan wondered if James had already called his connections in the bank to open up a way for her to go in with minimal obstructions on her way. She silently thanked him, putting her palms together as though she was praying. The woman led her to the customer care service where a long queue was. "Now I have to get back to my post," the woman said immediately. "Just stand here and tell the custome
It was evening, Gavin felt totally satisfied over the call he had made. For once, he thought to himself, that he had finally done something good for his wife, even though she would not really know he was the one who did it. He had been standing on his feet for a while. His eyes were glued to the gate as vehicle after vehicle passed. His job at that time was to see who the driver was, and try to know their mission in the vicinity. He had a blue card that he would give them as means of authorization to go inside. They had to return it once they came outside. That way he was able to know the amount of cars that were in the vicinity and be able to keep track of them. This was his job at the night time. At day time, he was a delivery man. It took a lot of toll and time on him, but as long as he was able to afford his daily bread, as well as a little to support his wife, he was okay. There were beads of sweat dropping from his forehead. He was really tired, but he just had to keep going.
"I will make you pay, Gavin. Whether or not you know what you did." There was so much agony dripping from Ron's words. His eyes were reddened. There was a vein popping on his forehead. The evening sun casted shadows that frames his face to resemble that of a nightmare creature.Gavin was still standing by the gate when Ron who was supposed to be going home, walked close to him.Ron stared at Gavin's legs and thought to himself, still angry and rage driven, "Those legs of yours, the ones you use to work two jobs, I will make sure I bruise them so you will not put me to shame anymore. You will get what is coming for you." He approached Gavin slowly, and looked at the other direction to make him perceive that he was not looking at him. "Good evening sir," Gavin greeted, but his voice and words felt like that of a fly or a mosquito to Ron. It only made him feel more aggravated at the young man who was only working for his daily bread and had no awareness that his superior in office had
Hearing Megan squeal with terror after seeing his beaten body on the floor, made him raise his head up to look at her right there at the right of the door. "I got beaten up," he answered her question. "What? Why? What happened?" Meghan moved towards him and tried to touch him, but he shrieked away at her advances. He could only feel nothing but pain as she touched him. Gavin searched his mind to answer the question, but could not find any real reason why he was beaten up. "I really don't know," he said. "But then, who did this?" She had concern written all over her face. "My superior. The Chief Security Officer. I really did not do anything and he did this?" Megan sprung back for a few seconds. Her look of concern morphed quickly into one of unbelief and shock. "Are you sure that is what happened?" She asked. "Why exactly would he want to beat you up to this state? Are you sure you did not do something?" "I am telling you that I don't know why I was beaten up, so I cann
