"Honey, can you tell Sheriff Brightside what you just told me in the car?" Harriet Calhoun placed her on the blind girl and leaned closer to her. Harriet Calhoun had driven to the station to meet with Sheriff Brightside.

"Sheriff? Are we at the station?" Jane whirled her head around even though she could see nothing.

"Yes, I need to know everything you saw before you got blind," Sheriff Brightside said in a calm tone.

"The only thing I could remember was being in an abandoned corn farm with some soldiers, a few men, and kids around my age." Jane paused to sniff and fiddled with her hands that were on top of her thighs.

"Go on," Sheriff Brightside urged her, squinting in the process.

"There was this boy who was staring down at me like he was possessed or something. I was over the floor and he picked me up with one hand and then he let his pupils turn red before looking me right in the eye. And then I went blind." She finished and began sobbing once more.
