“Good morning, sir!” Helena greeted Bastian once and then as she passed the reception.

Helena has two reasons to say hello to Bastian.

First thing first, Bastian is her superior. Helena will seem disrespectful if she passes Bastian just like that when the lobby is full and crowded.

Helena doesn’t want to be the talk of office colleagues because she ignores the boss and even passes by. Already quite a few rumors were circulating about her, and Helena did not want to make any more of them.

Helena feels confused sometimes. She remembered that she had never harassed or done anything terrible during this time. But whatever she does is always in the spotlight. That isn’t comforting, to be honest.

And the second reason is ... because she had no reason not to say hello.
