"Young master, there's been an accident! Your girlfriend Geena is dead!!"
Jamie's words made Oliver freeze. Oliver had decided not to go to the office that day, and Geena took his car instead.
"What did you say?" Oliver asked Jamie like he didn't quite get it the first time.
"There was an explosion at the square. Your car exploded. The police are on their way as we speak-" Jamie's words were cut off when Oliver dashed out of the house.
He quickly grabbed the first car that he saw, and got in. And then, Oliver zoomed off. His breath was heavy, and his chest sunk into his heart.
Geena could not be dead. She couldn't! Oliver approached the square and saw a lot of onlookers glaring at the gory scene, and the police had made a line already.
He stepped down from his vehicle and slowly began to approach the scene.
"Hey, sir, you can't go further. That's a crime scene," a cop tried to push Oliver back but he ignored the cop and went straight in.
People watched as Oliver checked what was left of the ashes, and then, he saw the necklace that he had gifted Geena some nights ago.
Oliver's heart collapsed. It was true. She was dead. But how did it happen? He wondered. A car wouldn't just explode on its own. Unless it was tampered with. Unless he was the target…
"Mr Blaze. I'm Detective Petra. I've seen you in newspapers and magazines," a female detective suddenly said to Oliver and blushed.
Oliver's gaze was hollow, but anger was slowly replacing the anguish in his soul.
"The deceased was your girlfriend, yes?" She asked him. Oliver nodded.
"Do you have any idea who might have done this?" Detective Petra asked him again. Oliver gritted his teeth. He didn't need to make a guess.
Oliver had planted secret cameras in his house and if someone had indeed tampered with his car, he would figure it out.
"I'm afraid I don't at this time, Detective. I'd like to leave now," Oliver replied to her and walked past her. Petra sighed.
"Mr Blaze, if you have anything, I need you to come to me with that information. The law can handle it," she said but Oliver gave her no response.
He knew how the law operated in the city. Justice was a joke. That was precisely why he would handle everything himself. Oliver got into his car and zoomed off to the mansion.
When he drove back, he quickly parked the car as the head of the Vipers approached him with Jamie.
"Boss, I'm sorry for what happened-" Ludacris, the head of the Vipers started but Oliver cut him off.
"Not now, Ludacris. I must find out what truly happened," Oliver said to him and walked into the mansion. Ludacris followed closely.
Oliver then approached a wall and pulled out a part of it, exposing keypads. He typed in the passcode and a door opened with a whooshing sound. Ludacris exclaimed as they stepped into a computer room with modern gadgets and all.
"Did you do a proper screening for all Vipers?" Oliver asked him while he began to type on the keyboards.
"Yes, boss. I know every Viper's name by heart," Ludacris replied to him.
"Then, who is that?" Oliver asked and pointed to the screen. Ludacris watched closely as the hooded man sneaked into the compound and planted a bomb on Oliver's car.
Then, the man looked up briefly and the camera captured his face.
"That man is not a Viper. I have never seen him in my life," Ludacris replied to Oliver. Oliver nodded. His entire body was boiling with fury now.
The computers scanned the hooded man's face and pinpointed his current location. Turns out, he was an assassin for hire!
"Let's have a chat with him," Oliver said and dashed out of the house with Ludacris following him. They then drove off to the assassin's current location.
As the drive was quiet, Ludacris could barely guess what was going through Oliver's mind. He had never seen him so angry. Oliver drove to the motel that the assassin was at and headed straight for the room.
He kicked the door down, and the assassin jumped as he grabbed a gun. With the speed light, Oliver grabbed the gun and twisted the assassin's hand.
"Who sent you?" Oliver asked him with fury in his voice. The assassin was trembling now, his eyes filled with fear.
"Who sent you?!" Oliver yelled at him again.
"D-Dominck Torino," the assassin confessed. Oliver was surprised. He had expected that the assassin would say the Mafia or even Tim since he was getting closer to solving his father's murder.
How dare Dominick try to make an attempt on his life?
"I'll fucking end him!" Oliver fumed. He let go of the assassin's hand and groaned loudly. Pain shot through his system. They shouldn't have killed Geena.
They shouldn't have!
"Please, spare me-"
The assassin didn't finish the statement before Oliver shot him in the head. As the body dropped with a thump, Oliver wiped his prints off the gun and dropped it.
He turned to Ludacris who was also furious.
"Dominick Torino dies today. I'll paint this city red with his blood!" Oliver said to him.
He and Ludacris got back into the car and drove off to Dominick's house. On getting there, Oliver charged into the house with the house help screaming while they ran.
But Dominick was nowhere to be found. He wasn't home. At that moment, Oliver suspected another foul play.
Where the hell could he be?
"I have a crime to confess. I've killed someone. You have to lock me up, now!" Dominick blurted out to the policeman at the desk. The cop glared at him while raising a brow."Sir, what are you saying?" The cop asked Dominick."Please, lock me up. He can't find me out there. It will be too bad for me. I rather go to jail than let him find me. Please!" Dominick begged again. He heard the news on TV that the assassin had missed its mark. Instead, Geena, Oliver's girlfriend, was killed. Before Dominick ran to the station, he had tried to reach out to the assassin. But the man wasn't picking up.That could only mean one thing; Oliver had gotten to him."Sir, who did you kill?" The cop asked again, trying to get the facts straight for Dominick could need professional help instead."Did you watch the news? I planted the bomb that killed that young woman earlier. I deserve to go to jail for that, don't I? Lock me up!" Dominick yelled at the cop. The cop quickly placed him in cuffs and called
"... I have your girlfriend…"Those words struck Oliver like steel. He gazed at the email for some time, puzzled by the mafia's guts and audacity. But Geena was alive, and that was a good thing. All that Oliver needed to do was go get her. Another email soon followed and it contained a phone number.Oliver dialed the number and it barely rang before someone picked up the phone."I wasn't sure you'd call me back, Oliver Blaze. I've heard that you are quite stubborn," the Mafia said to Oliver. When Oliver heard the voice, his mind was taken back to so many memories. He immediately recognized the voice for he had heard the Mafia arguing with his father one time."Where's Geena? Where is my girlfriend?" Oliver asked the mafia."She is safe. For now. You know, my men pulled her out of the car just before the explosion. You were not the only one who had eyes on the hooded man…" the mafia said to Oliver and he knew what that meant. There was a spy in the mansion who was working for The Mafi
"I am disappointed in you, Dominick. How could you confess to attempted murder?" Tim, Cara's father, admonished Dominick in the interrogation room. They had bribed the police to come in and speak with Dominick themselves. Cara was there as well, an exasperated look written on her face."Confessing to the crime is better than Oliver Blaze finding me. He killed my assassin, Tim. Do you know what that means? I'm like a cockroach waiting to be snapped!" Dominick replied to the older man."I warned you against picking a fight against Oliver Blaze in the first place. But you didn't listen. Look what that has gotten you," Cara said to Dominick and rolled her eyes. He looked confused. So many things were going through his mind at the same time."Why are you both here? Cara has already broken up with me. Did you just come to gloat now that I have nothing?" Dominick asked Tim and he laughed."Or are you here to help me? Any form of help would be appreciated! You know I'll restore both our compa
"Found you!"Oliver smiled as he pinned the mafia's location. He now had what he needed to save Geena and end the mafia once and for all. Oliver stepped out of the tech room and immediately found Ludacris standing there with a worried look on his face."Boss, have you found the mafia yet?" Ludacris asked him and Oliver nodded while raising his brow."Where is he?" Ludacris asked him again. Oliver crossed his arms and stared at Ludacris."You tell me," Oliver said to him. Ludacris let out a nervous chuckle."I don't understand, boss. What do you mean?" He asked in response."What does the mafia have on you, Ludacris? I know that you are the spy. You'd betray me like that? And Jamie, did you lead Jamie to his death?" Oliver fumed.Ludacris knew that he was done for. There was no way he could deny what was so obvious. He sighed and walked toward a couch to take his seat."He wasn't supposed to be there. Jamie was at the right place at the wrong time. I had no other choice but to turn hi
The older man approached Oliver with a smile on his face. Oliver froze as he gazed at his father, a million questions rushing through his head at that moment"Son, you look like you've seen a ghost," Harry, Oliver's dad said to him with the same creepy smile. Geena observed the drama, and the hush that hung in the hair was haunting."Dad? How are you here? You died," Oliver said to Harry who smiled. Then, his eyes roamed to Geena and he stared at her for some time."Oliver, can I speak with you alone?" He asked, still glaring at Geena. Oliver arched his brow while his father kept gazing at his girlfriend. He turned to Geena and she nodded. As Osiris took her upstairs, Harry walked to the mini bar in the living room, his fingers trailing every bit of furniture in the place."It's just like I remember. Nothing has changed. You've done a good job taking care of the house, Oliver," Harry said but Oliver was over the shock now. "Dad, I want answers. What happened to you?" Oliver questio
It's been twelve hours since Oliver gave Oscar the mission. And during that time, a doctor had stopped over to check Geena out. She was in a good condition.Oliver's father didn't call or show up. It was like he had disappeared all over again. Oliver was not anxious, for he knew that the man would resurface again."He has a plan and I must figure it out," Oliver said to himself. Then , his phone rang. It was Oscar. Oliver picked up the phone."Oscar?" He said."Boss. I couldn't find anything on your father," Oscar said to Oliver. Oliver arched his brow."What do you mean by that?" He asked Oscar who sighed."It's like he didn't even exist until yesterday. Everything registered under his name dates back to his time of death. And no camera was able to capture his face or anything all this time," Oscar said to Oliver. Oliver nodded."I'll take it from here, Oscar," Oliver said and hung up. As expected, Oliver knew his father would cover his tracks. What was the man up to? Was he even a s
"Why do we need to meet?" Oliver asked Harry who chuckled over the phone. Oliver stood up, and walked to the window, taking in a view of the city."I want us to catch up, son. There are things that I have been able to figure out while I was in the shadows. I want to share them with you," Harry said."It's a little too late to try and be a father, don't you think so?" Oliver asked Harry. "Look, just come to me, let's talk it over. I'm at the Louvre Resort. I'll keep a reservation for you," Harry replied and Oliver hung up.Although he was angry, Oliver wanted to know what his father had in store. Something told him that Harry had tricks up his sleeves and Oliver did not want to be caught unawares. So when he was done with the day's work, Oliver drove back home to change into something casual. He wanted to avoid detection and going in in a disguise was the best thing to do.Oliver drove to the Louvre Resort and parked his car. He stepped down, approached the building and entered insid
"You must divorce Cara now. You've been nothing but a fucking disgrace since you married my daughter. This family deserves more than a miserable son-in-law like you!"Tim, Oliver's father-in-law yelled at him. Oliver raised his brow while gazing at Tim, and tension filled the air as he stood before his wife's family.Their fiery eyes spoke volumes; a sheer hatred against Oliver that words could barely describe. He had wondered why they suddenly called on him that night. Since he married Cara, they've always made him sleep in the basement and never allowed him access to the main building except to mop and clean. Then, they'd ridicule him, call him names, and even spit on him for being a live-in son-in-law.But Oliver endured all of this for one reason only: his love for Cara. Even though she joined them and treated him less than an animal, Oliver made excuses for her inside his head.He didn't want to let her go.He so desperately hoped that she would pass his test, and show that she
