CHAPTER TEN. THE COLLAPSE OF CONFIDENCE

As the manager, Emily, declared the money outdated, Oliver's confident facade crumbled. His bravado faded, replaced by a look of genuine worry. "Never! That can't be," he stammered. "My mother gave me these dollar bills this morning when I was leaving home," he added, his voice faltering as he tried to justify himself.

The students seized the chance, their cheers and jeers growing louder. “Seems like Mr. Big Shot’s just a joke after all!” one student yelled, clearly enjoying the moment.

“He got those notes from his mommy?” another jeered. “What a joke!”

Oliver felt the walls closing in. The derision and mockery were overwhelming, and he knew he had to act quickly to salvage the situation before it spiraled completely out of control.

Emily’s eyes narrowed, her patience long gone. Her voice cut through the remaining murmurs with a sharp edge.

“A mistake?” she sneered. “You think this is just a mistake? You come in here, disrupt my cinema, embarrass me and my staff, and then try to pay
