CHAPTER SIX

At the time we arrived at the pavilion used for the awakening of talent. I saw children my age with their parents guiding them into the pavilion and I wished my parents were with me here.

The queen noticed my mood and patted my back, “don’t worry, we are here for you and they might get the letter by now and know that you are ok” she said as she gave me an encouraging smile.

I smiled at her and gave her a nod and Sarah held my hand leading me inside.

When we entered the hall, everybody bowed the moment they saw the queen and she wave at them to stand. The hall was huge and could easily accommodate over a hundred people.

I noticed some people wearing cloaks of different colours and turned to Helen. “Who are those people wearing cloaks,” I asked her when pointing at them.

“They are mages from the magic tower in charge of the awakening, you see they have different colours right,” she said pointing at a few of them.

“The green robes are for beginners, the blue is for the middle or intermediate while purple is for the people in the highest level,” she said as I observed them as we walked to the area designated for royalty and nobles

“The different shades of the colour difference between the circles of the mages in the same level, from the lightest to the darkest” she finished explaining and I looked at her to see she is wearing a dark blue robe signifying she is sixth circle mage.

When we got to the section for nobles and royalty, they got up to greet the queen and princess. Some of them shot me a questionable look, but what caught my interest was a boy with black hair and eyes looking at me with a fascinated look.

“Sarah who is that boy with black hair,” I asked her and she turned to look in his direction.

“Oh that’s Mathew, he is in the knight class and his weapon is a spear,” she said looking at me.

“I have never seen someone using a spear before, even back at home it was only sword and archery class I have seen,” I said looking quite surprised.

“Alright Peter, it’s time to get your number,” Helen said as she pointed to the crowded section with lined-up children.

We went there while Alex stay with the royal in case of any attack which I doubt, looking at the number of mages and knights around only a lunatic would try to attack or cause trouble.

We got my number pretty fast, maybe it was Helen was a sixth circle mage or the royal family influence, it was good for me.

We returned and sat close to Sarah, which caused the intense gaze of the boys around to focus on me.

“Hey, my name is Mathew, what’s yours” I raised my head to see the black haired stretching his hand to me.

“Peter, nice to meet you” I held his hand, then he increased his gripping force, I smiled at him and increase mine too.

Sarah noticed this and smiled, looking at Mathew with pity. He finally let go of my hand after some time

“What a nice grip you have there,” I said with a playful smile on my face. Alex was smiling at us as if enjoying the show.

“You too Peter, hope we spar sometimes,” he said as he returned to his seat. I smiled at his back ‘this kid really wanted to test me.

“Play nice Peter, don’t break them too soon, it won’t be fun”, I heard the queen's voice and she had a mischievous smile on her face.

For the first, I felt the queen was not as simple as we thought as I look at her. ‘She knew this would’ I thought as I looked at her wariness.

“Don’t give me that look kid, I am not that bad?” she said with her usual smile on her which her look more mischievous.

Time went by and we waited till it got to my turn. The highest awaken affinity I saw, was a girl with blue hair, who had an affinity for water magic.

Soon I got to my turn and I approached the altar. At the altar, there were two pillars floating in mid-air.

The pillar to the right had a drawing of a sword, a bow, a spear and many other weapons. While the pillar at the left looks more like a staff, withdrawing different element affinity on it.

Approaching the mage at the middle of the altar, he was wearing a light blue robe. He told me to place both my hands at the black orb on a stone tablet.

I followed his instruction and placed my hands on the orb, next a blinding light radiated from the orb. When I opened my eyes, it was as if I was transported to another place and all I could see was darkness.

‘Where the hell am I’ I thought as I looked around until I heard movement and raised my head up to see three pairs of glowing eyes looking down at me.

Even in the dark, I could see their glittering scales and their imposing huge bodies. “Dragons” was the only word I could think of at that moment.

“Welcome, we have been waiting for you young one,” the red dragon said, with steam coming out of its mouth like it was going to breathe fire any moment.

It lowered its head to look at me and I saw its blue eyes. It was the same shade as mine and he looked at me intently.

The other dragon was a yellow-coloured dragon with golden eyes. I could see lightning flickering around its body.

The other dragon stood straight and looked at me. I could feel pressure just looking at his body. He has obsidian-coloured scales and purple eyes.

“Don’t be afraid, we are here to help?” the lightning dragon said in a female voice, making her sound like a mother.

“I am Indra, this is Apollo and Voltron” she gestured at the two other dragons by her side.

“Young one, we are to grant you the power to fight against the revival of the demon king, or if possible kill him if he resurrected,” Apollo said as he looked at me.

I looked up at the three dragons. ‘This is going to be tough.
