2022-08-19 18:17:38Early the next morning, I was woken by the chirping of birds and the rays of sunlight. When I got off bed, I did my morning routine which involves a bunch of exercises to get my day started.
After that, I went to the bathing room to take my bath and clean myself up since I was already sweating.
I got out of the bathing and put on the clothes I have already selected to wear today from the previous day.
It was a Dark blue tunic long sleeve, black pants and shoes. I looked in the mirror to adjust my clothes and arrange my auburn red hair before heading out.
As I walked to the sitting I greeted the maids and servants. It was quite lonely in the corridor since it was early in the morning. When I got there, I saw Sarah and her mother Queen Elizabeth sitting on the couch talking about something. She was wearing a green dress the same as her mother's but hers made her look like a little princess and only got to her knees and she was wearing silver sanders. The queen’s dress was long with a pair of silver heels to pair with her pieces of jewellery.
I must the queen and princess look so alike you will think Sarah was the younger version of her mother.
“Good Peter, hope you slept well,” she said beaming at me with a smile. She looks really pretty with her hair tied up in a ponytail.
“Good morning to you too Sarah and good morning your highness” I greeted her and the queen with a smile as I walked towards them.
“Are you feeling excited; today is the day you know”. To be fair, she was far more excited than I was, since I was the one going to get my talents selection test today.
“If I didn’t know better, I would have thought you are the one getting tested and not me, look at how happy you are” I teased her which made the queen laugh.
“Don’t tease her too much Peter, you know it’s been long overdue and I am even interested in it too” she said while patting Sarah’s hair who was blushing.
A maid came in from the dining room to inform us that breakfast was ready, and then we got up to follow her.
“Where is the king,” I asked the queen since I can’t see him around
“He will meet us at the dining room” she replied as walked forward and her smile never leaving her face.
I wonder how she does that, always having a smile on her face and it always gives a feeling of being welcomed.
We got to the dining room and it was filled with various dishes which made my tummy grumble. I am a growing boy I need to eat.
I sat close to Sarah as usual and the queen sat opposite us, while the head of the table was still vacant. So we had to wait for the king to come.
“Sorry for keeping you guys waiting,” the king said as he entered the room and we got up to greet him.
He waved his hand telling us to sit. “Sorry about that, some couldn’t let me sleep last night,” he said as he looked at the queen.
“It’s not my fault that you left me for more than two weeks,” she said back with a satisfied smile on her face.
I pretended not to hear and Sarah focused on her food like she was looking for a treasure inside, ignoring everything around. ‘She most been used to this a by now I thought as I looked at her the shook my head.
“So Peter, you are going for your talent selection today, I have assigned Alex to go with you and I will be busy, so I won’t accompany you guys,” he said.
“Thank you, your majesty,” he said. But Sarah shot him a glare and I didn’t bother asking her anything about that.
After breakfast, Sarah the queen and I walked to the hall. Then we met Helen there, who was drinking tea.
“Hope we didn’t keep you waiting Helen,” the queen said as we walked into the hall.
“No your highness, I just got here not quite long and Peter hopes you are ready for it,” she said flashing me a meaningful smile.
“Yes, I am”. I always have the feeling that she knows something and it keeps bugging me the way she looks at me like a specimen.
I knew she didn’t just here because her tea has already gone cold.
After a few minutes, Alex walked in clad in his royal knight armour which fitted him quite well.
It was black armour with blue at the right, with a crest of a lion on his left chest. His left hand was resting on his sword that hanging on the left side of his waist which gave him the increased knightly look which he already had.
“Good morning your majesties, Peter and Miss Helen” he greeted as he entered. I flashed a small smile and he nodded in response
“The carriage is ready and waiting outside for us,” he said gesturing to the door for us.
We got up and I gave him thumbs up and he winked at me knowing what I meant.
Outside the door, there were two navy blues carriages with the crest of a lion waiting for us. One of the carriages could carry all five of us and the other was used to carry other knights and mages.
I asked Helen where the awakening was going to take place. She said it was at a pavilion close to the mage tower, which would take us about an hour to get there.
‘To the awakening then’ I said to myself as we started to move.
When we got there I saw an imposing tower that was more than twenty floors and others by the side. ‘So this is the mage tower interesting’.

When we got to the palace, Queen Elizabeth led Sarah and me to the king's private study. When we arrived at the door of the study, she knocked twice before we got permission to enter. The study was huge. It had shelves that were as high as fifteen feet, stacked with books of different colours. Some of the books were about magic, which is surprising because the king was a broadsword user. We saw the king sitting behind a desk filled with files and ledgers. Behind him were a blue lion shield and a great sword behind it. That night, I decided to take the red dragon pill. When I swallowed the pill, I could feel a fiery sensation coming from my chest as the pill started to dissolve. Then it spread from my chest at its starting point to every part of my body. It was as if my body was set on fire, as I could feel the temperature raising and sweating all over my body. The next moment my joint started snapping, which caused me great pain. I thought I could bear it but the pain increased and my body felt as if it was burning up, to the point I let a scream and pass out on the bed. When I woke the next morning, my bed was damp and dirty. I got up and looked at my body to check if there were any changes due to the pains of my bones snapping and the feeling of my body set on fire. After breakfast, Sarah and I took a walk to the back garden of the palace. The back garden was very beautiful, with different types of exotic and nearly extinct plants there. In the garden, you can see different colours and species of birds flying around. This place was a safe haven for these birds because they had been hunted outside of this place. We walked on the marble walkway and by the side of the walkway; you can see heroes, generals and kings as you walk down the pavement. We got to the centre of the garden and there was a statue of the first king of Gales kingdom. The stature was at least 10 meters tall and it was so life like that you could feel pressured just looking at it. When we entered the vault, it was as huge as the hall in the palace, filled with different types of weapons and armour. "I brought you both here to select your weapons and staffs respectfully, the equipment here is all gold grade and real treasures of the kingdom," King Mark said as we walked around. "Sarah, this staff will fit you because of your natural control of nature. It has a great boost to all wind and nature spells, be it defence and attack" Queen Elizabeth said and gave Sarah a green staff with a grey gem at the top. The staff looks like it was made of roots intertwined together from the bottom to top, only separating at the top so the grey gem can be there placed. Peter got to his room and headed straight for the bathroom, done with that, he started learning how to cast a lightning spell ‘lightning bolt’. It took him a couple of hours to cast it. Lightening spells are quite destructive like flame spells, but they had an extra advantage because they help increase the users' mobility, but to do that you have to get he has to reach my third circle, but that’s for normal people. He practised the spell for a few more hours until he heard a knock on his door, the person opened it and Sarah poked her head through the gap and saw him casting fireball and lightning bolt at the same time with amazing speed. “Wow, you can now cast both spells simultaneously,” she said stepping into the room. The next week started and it was the first class for Peter and Joy in the third circle. They stood in front of ten feet high door and they could feel mana fluctuation from it.They open the door and step into an open field with trees and a lake. They were both surprised by the view and knew that this place was not in the tower because the land mass was large to accommodate the entire tower. When Tina got down from the stage, she met Sarah smiling at her, “you finally advanced to the second circle,” she said to her. Sarah advanced to the second circle of days earlier after a hellish training session with Miss Helen.She has been getting personal training from her once in a while and they have been extremely harsh, but thanks to that, she advanced to the second circle. Her nature affinity increased a lot after that and she got a new spell called ‘MOTHER NATURE’. The stage of the arena was covered with smoke. Peter stood at his spot waiting for the smoke to clear off. On the other side, the boy pointed his staff forward and four magic circles appeared, “Scattershot.” Flames shot out from the circle into the smoke heading for where Peter was.Peter sensed the fluctuation of mana and his dragon sense made him know that an attack was coming his way. He channelled mana into his hand creating a whip from fire. When the flames shot out of the smoke screen, Peter flogged his whip forward towards the flames and it destroyed the flames.Peter sent the whip forward striking at his opponent, the boy raised a flame wall to block it. Samuel stood on the stage facing his opponent. He took a red staff with a ruby at the tip. The ruby glowed with a tinge of an orange hue to it. He got the staff from a merchant for a high amount of gold after his duel with Peter.The boy with the buzz took off his cloak; he was wearing a sleeveless top showing his muscles. In the class, students were inscribing tunes into sheets of paper. It was not other ordinary paper but magic sheets used to create magic scrolls. Magic scrolls are sheets with spells engraved on them, sold to merchants or adventurers.The price of the magic scrolls depends on the quality. The scrolls are divided into three grades. They are ‘Normal, Rear and Epic’ grades. So the class are learning how to engrave magic spells into the sheets. Some would blow up in their face, while most just created normal-grade scrolls.Peter found it interesting, as he tried to engrave the runes without using the steps he had gotten from the knowledge of the dragons.
