[Level up!]

[Level up!]

[Level up!]

[Level up!]

As expected, his levels rose quite quickly.

This was what he got for killing over 30 monsters nonstop. He had gone up four levels.

He had gained a lot during this hunt and he felt quite pleased.

While killing the wolves, he suddenly remembered that monsters usually dropped magic crystals.

He also got to learn that certain items can be dropped from the dead monsters and could be sold in the store.

Therefore, right now, he has 35 magic crystals and 20 wolf spines stored in his inventory.

He was hoping they could fetch him a good amount of coins.

Hal looked around him and was quite surprised by the level of havoc he had caused.

But this wasn't enough for him to clear the dungeon, and he knew exactly what needed to be done.

Hal raised his head and looked in a certain direction.

"It's giving me the creeps."

There was a reason he hadn't been able to clear the dungeon and that was because of the existence of the 'Boss'.

Up ahead, not too far from where he stood, the entrance to a cave could be seen, and one didn't have to be a Hunter or anything special to sense the ominous aura lurking deep within that cave.

The aura was so chilling that a regular human could suffocate simply from coming in contact with it.

And that was what Hal needed to face before he could clear the dungeon.

He had fought and killed over 50 monsters alone and thought he was prepared to face off against the big bad, but now that it was time to do so, he was getting all sweaty and nervous.

"Shit."

Hal lightly slapped both of his cheeks.

"You can do this okay."

Besides, it wasn't like he had much of a choice, he could vividly remember the message from the system when he tried exiting the dungeon after entering.

[You can not exit the dungeon. Please defeat the Boss.]

So that means, right from when he had stepped into this dungeon, his way out had been fixed.

[Please defeat the Boss.]

Therefore, he just had to go through with it if he had any plan of leaving this place, despite how beneficial it was.

Hal took a deep breath and calmed himself down.

"This is something I have to do, I can't get stronger if I can't even summon the courage to fight a D rank dungeon boss."

"I made a vow to myself never to be weak again and I intend to go through with that."

"So, f**k you monster. I don't care how strong you are; just know this: I'm coming for you."

Hal said as he pointed his dagger toward the cave.

And with that, he slowly yet boldly walked into the cave.

Hal could hear the sound of dripping water and feel the pressure coming off the boss monster.

As he walked further in, the whole cave became dark, with very little source of light, yet he had no problem seeing where he was going.

"Is it because of my perception stat?"

He couldn't help but feel that his eyesight had improved greatly.

Hal traced the energy coming off from the monster and found himself in a much larger space than the last, yet darker.

It seemed like the dungeon boss was somewhere around here, and just like he had guessed, he heard the low sound of growling, before he saw the red eyes and the system message.

[Advance tier monster: Iron-clawed Kaisan-Lycan found.]

[You have come in contact with the Dungeon Boss. Please defeat the Dungeon Boss to exit the dungeon.]

The dungeon boss, unlike the rest of the monsters he had killed, wasn't called a wolf but a Lycan, and true to its name, the ar**hole was standing on two feet.

"Howl!!"

The Lycan let out a mighty howl as it walked out from the dark.

Hal swallowed his saliva as he could now see the monster in full.

It easily passed 7 feet and wasn't only just tall, but extremely muscular, and had large canines and claws with long pointy ears.

It also had red eyes and was extremely hairy.

As soon as Hal made his evaluation of the monster, it ran in while going down on all fours before jumping and slashing at him with both claws in an x shape.

Hal managed to roll away on time before turning back to take a look at where he had been earlier.

The part of the cave there had been broken into small pieces, one could have mistaken it for small bits of rocks.

'I guess it isn't called the iron-clawed Lycan for no reason then.'

The monster ran around in circles with Hal in the middle and frequently attacked him from different angles, giving him no space to breathe.

"Damn, it's fast."

To make matters worse, the whole place was dark and he could only rely on his perception to battle the monster.

Despite the monster attacking at a fast pace, Hal was still able to successfully guard against most of its attacks but sustained a few injuries. If things continued this way, then it was only a matter of time before the monster overpowered him.

Hal's eyes formed into a slit as he evaluated the way the monster attacked.

"It comes from the right twice in a roll before switching to the left, and then attack from above, and now it had just finished attacking from the left, which means the next attack would be coming from above."

[Active skill 'Dash' has been activated.]

Hal gripped both of his daggers and stooped low before jumping into the air to meet the monster.

Klaang!!

The sound of blades clashing against claws could be heard, and for a few seconds, both Hunter and monster remained in mid-air as they seemed to fight for who had the upper hand in terms of strength; the air around them condensed due to the sheer force that came from their attacks.

"It's stronger and faster than I am, but I have the advantage of my perception and the skill 'dash' so I think we are a bit balanced."

Kraang!

The monster slashed down with more force and this time Hal got slammed into the floor.

Boom!!

Hal formed a crater on the floor but didn't waste time getting out and attacking the monster again.

The monster and Hal ran in to meet each other again, the monster folded its hands into a fist and threw a punch at Hal.

He slid underneath the hand and used his daggers to slash its body.

"What the!"

Hal eyes widened in Surprise at how thick the monster's hide was.

He was only able to draw a small amount of blood despite using a considerably high amount of strength, but he didn't let that distract him.

He kicked off the floor before throwing a roundhouse kick at its head.

The monster stumbled for a bit before righting itself; by that time, Hal was already in front of it and violently slashed at its chest.

The monster tried attacking him, but he nimbly avoided it and continued the barrage of attacks on it.

The monster folded itself like a cannon, before unfolding and spread out its arms as it let out a deafening howl that shook the whole cave.

Hal got blasted away and rolled on the floor for some time before coming to a stop.

"This isn't working." Hal thought.

Despite his constant attack on the monster, it still seemed fine, and had only sustained a few major injuries while he was getting tired.

He brought up his stats interface.

Name: Hal Rodgraim

Level: 8

Class: E

Title: None

HP: 100

LF: 8%

His HP was now half its original stat; if the fight continued this way, he ran a risk of dying. Therefore, he had to find a way to deal with this situation and fast.

Hal watched the monster close the distance between them in the blink of an eye and furiously slash at him.

[Skill 'dash' has been activated.]

He swiftly sidestepped and ran in a straight position, the monster not keen on letting him escape, followed after him and quickly caught up.

Hal increased his speed and continued running, with the monster on his heels.

They ran for some time till they approached a dead end.

"I guess it's time I tried that now, I think it's my best chance of survival.

As they neared the wall, Hal tapped on it and did a backflip; he landed on the monster's shoulders and stabbed both daggers into its neck severally. The monster struggled and tried throwing him off, but he held tightly.

The monster finally managed to throw him off, but as it did, Hal immediately bounced off the wall and threw his dagger at it. The dagger struck it in the forehead, and blood streamed out of the hole in it.

It swayed around for a few seconds with the dagger in its head, before limply falling face flat on the ground.

Hal rested his back on the wall as he watched the monster take its last breath while shaking.

He slid down the wall and sat on the floor as he heard the sound of the system messages going off in his head.

Tti-ring

The Hunters couldn't believe their eyes, as they watched the lone figure battle the monster. "Just who could that be?" They all thought. All members were accounted for, including the dead, so just who was that? But they never knew the so-called E-rank they brought in was the one fighting against a King tier monster. Even though they were watching from afar, those attacks were so ferocious they sent shivers down their spine. However, that man was effectively evading all the attacks and even seemed to have the upper hand, as he was getting closer to the monster and posing more threats to it. As everyone was wondering who that was, Sir Jack quickly made use of the eye lens piece attached to the helmet and zoomed in on the fight. "Huh!" He let out a gasp, not believing the face that showed in his lenses. It was that of the E-rank Hunter, he had hired. Jack felt his brain shut down for the slightest second, as he couldn't believe the smooth and efficient movements coming from
