Yvonne's expression was serious yet not unkind. "Let's just say I'm just doing my job. I need to focus on driving. Hold off on the questions for now.''

The car fell into an uneasy silence as Logan's words hung heavy in the air. Yvonne, focused on the road, could feel the weight of his grief permeating the space between them.

"They killed my friends," he muttered, the pain evident in his voice. "Your husband has put me in trouble, ma'am. I don't even know their families. They'll be devastated when they hear the news."

Yvonne's lips curled into a sneer, and her gaze remained fixed on the road ahead. "There's apparently nothing we can do. Your friends are gone, and their families have no choice but to bear the burden. It's up to us to keep your mother alive," she stated coolly.

As Logan marveled at her resilience, he couldn't help but think, "If there's a woman of steel out there, it's her."
