CHAPTER 83

Philip’s mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, each one more frantic than the last. The pen had felt heavy in his hand when he signed those papers, and now, every ticking second felt like a countdown to disaster. Lane’s eyes were glued to the documents, his mouth curling into a satisfied smirk as he flipped through the pages. Philip could feel the tension in the room pressing down on him, thick and suffocating.

He knew he had to act, but the question was how. Lane was too smart to leave any obvious openings, and with his men likely stationed all around, any rash move could cost him everything—Jessica, the company, and perhaps even his own life. But doing nothing was not an option. He needed a distraction, something to shift the balance in his favor.

As Lane finished reviewing the papers, he looked up, meeting Philip’s gaze with a cold, calculating stare. “It’s all set,” Lane said, his voice devoid of any warmth. “Once these are processed, the Aton Empire will be mine.”
