Chapter 58

Hearing the words coming out of Brianna's mouth made Brandon chuckle, shaking his head in amusement. He couldn't believe that even at a time like this, Brianna could still joke around.

"Miss Brianna, you're full of surprises," said Brandon, his tone now sounding more relaxed. "I appreciate your sense of humor."

Brandon's response made Brianna smile. But the woman didn't seem to indicate that it was just a joke. "I'm glad to see you a bit more relaxed, Mr. Brandon, but... honestly, I wasn't joking about that. If you want..."

Before Brianna could finish her sentence, Brandon quickly cut in and said, "It seems it's getting quite late, Miss Brianna." Brandon peered outside, looking at the streets that were usually busy with many drivers, now quiet with only one or two cars passing by.

Brianna's smile faded slightly. Her face showed a hint of disappointment, but she tried to cover it up quickly. Even so, Brandon caught the change in her expression.

Brianna took a slow breath before finally
