Chapter 4-Ready for Divorce!

Alex is surprised by the voice that reaches his ears.

$1,000,005 must be spend in seven days? What does he have to do to spend that much money?

The voice came back, it seems to warn Alex before disappearing with the wind.

Alex stands up from the bench and squints to observe the surroundings of the dimly lit hospital garden. As far as the eye can see, he doesn't see anyone. But that voice... it sounded like it was whispering right in the back of his head.

Overcome with curiosity, Alex dares to check every corner. But nothing, he only finds an owl perched on one of the trees.

Was it only a sound? Or maybe it was his hallucination?

Alex feels like he's dreaming. Especially with $1.000.005 and a strange system suddenly appearing on his phone.

It is completely crazy, but there is no denying that Alex is excited.

Alex put his phone in his pants pocket and back to the hospital to pay for his daughter's medical bills. A smile on his lips, he almost jumps when he steps into Bianca's ward.

The wall clock shows 8:47 a.m. which means that he has spent over an hour in the backyard. Time passed quickly. Alex thought he had only been there for a few minutes.

His mind went back to what happened earlier. His cheek is still sore. But no matter where the money in his account came from, Alex always thanked the sender. Whether it was a person, a robot, or a system, he didn't care. If he could meet the sender, he will kiss the back of his hand.

Feeling happy, Alex opens the door to Bianca's room and sees her daughter who is still sleeping from the medicine.

Although Bianca can't hear his voice, Alex enthusiastically tells her about his experience in the hospital's backyard garden.

On the other hand, near the waiting room chair, John Sans stands with his brow furrowed in confusion. He wonders how his poor brother-in-law has been successful in paying Bianca's bills.

Another thing that makes him wonder is that Alex's face seems to be beaming. His behavior is weird too. Alex looks as if he has won the jackpot which dispels all the gloomy expressions on his face.

"Where did he get the money so quickly?" John whispered to himself. He stared at Bianca's room for a while, then hurried to tell his family.

Across the street, John sees Harri saying goodbye to Jasmine. He is waiting quietly on the side of the road, until his three family members arrive at his side.

"I have something important to tell you," he said quickly.

Jasmine shakes her hair back. "What is it?"

John clears his throat for a moment. "Alex! I saw it with my own eyes. He... he paid for Bianca's medical bills. But how is that possible? Where did he get the money so quickly?"

"Really? Are you sure? Don't joke!" Ms. Anne shook her head in disbelief. She laughed dismissively, but seeing John's serious expression, her laughter instantly stopped.

"I'm sure! Even that poor guy looks so happy, Mom!"

"We were only gone for an hour and he didn't seem to leave the hospital," Mr. Victor said in surprise. Of course they can't believe that Alex was able to get $500 in such a short time.

"Let's go see him," Jasmine said. Her gaze turns sardonic and she snorts. "If you're right, I wonder where he got the money from."

They immediately stepped into Bianca's room with great curiosity. Simultaneously, Alex had just stepped out of the room. The Sans frowned in surprise at Alex's face which, as John said, was beaming.

"Oh, you guys have come." Alex approached the Sans with a big smile. Without being asked, Alex explained proudly that he had paid the full cost of Bianca's medical bills. Alex's voice was loud, sonorous, and there was a hint of haughtiness in it like the way his mother-in-law spoke.

"I have paid the full bills for my beloved daughter, Bianca." Alex repeated the sentence twice to make sure that the four wealthy heads heard him clearly.

Their faces turned grim and Alex almost burst out laughing.

"I told you that I could pay for it," Alex said with a satisfied grin. They were all clearly surprised and wanted to know where Alex got the money so quickly.

"You may be proud of yourself for being able to prove your words, but... the source of your money is unclear." Mr. Victor, who had been silent, finally spoke with an irritated voice that could not be hidden.

Apparently, they didn't let Alex win so easily.

Alex looks at his father-in-law with a challenging gaze-not wanting to be patronized anymore. "Why did you say it was unclear? Do you know where I got the money from?"

"You could have stolen the money. Who would lend money to an unemployed person like you?" Ms. Anne sneered and pointed at Alex's face, who was smiling sweetly.

Alex chuckles softly. "Then, you can go to the police station to report me. But, if I'm proven innocent, I can report you back. How's that?" Alex asked with a calmness that the Sans family didn't like.

Everyone fell silent with angry faces. Mr. Victor and Ms. Anne were glaring and gnashing their teeth. Never had Alex felt so satisfied, just looking at their angry faces.

"Let's see, a thief like you is not going around like this," John said.

Alex nods his head. "Well, whatever you say. To be honest, your judgments don't matter to me anymore."

Victor hisses. " Do you think $500 will make you rich? Don't get cocky!"

Alex shrugged his shoulders in indifference. That advice was more suitable for Victor himself. Alex's heart was now filled with happiness that he still had so much money left in his account.

Alex approaches Jasmine who has been staring with a frown of displeasure. Alex stood before Jasmine and looked down with a sweet smile forming on his lips.

"Hello, my wife. Oh sorry, I mean, my future ex-wife." Alex feigned surprise for a moment, then chuckled as he continued, "Thank you for the show you put on with your mistress. I'm happy to get a divorce from a disgusting, money-crazed woman like you. You can go with Harri who is on the same page as you."

Alex smiles smugly at Jasmine's expression that turned pale, as if she had been slapped hard.

"Ah, sorry if you take offense. But, I will take care of Bianca from now onwards."
