CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Taking the meat that I cut from the deer, I returned to the camp. Alice and both of our mothers were sitting around the newly built campfire. My and Alice’s dad had returned to the woods a long time ago. It was getting dark, so we cooked the meat and ate it. Then we talked with each other till midnight. The talk was all about what we all were doing nowadays. Both, mine and Alice’s fathers were proud of me for playing with Carters.

I didn’t have pride in my eyes. You might think I might have. I don’t know why, but I felt in my heart; Something is wrong. But ignoring the feeling I had, I continued talking with my and Alice’s parents; And soon we retired for the day and returned to our own camps. After the uneventful night passed, morning came quickly. We got ready and started doing our own work. We had already discussed this yesterday, each of us would do the work decided yesterday.
