Cade lost control of his vehicle after being slammed from the side. He was trying to get the car back under control when he was slammed again, this time from behind and he smacked his head against the steering wheel. Blood began to flow down the side of his face and the car swerved out of the main road onto a side street and crashed against a wall. The airbag inflated and prevented him from smacking his head against the steering again or worse, the glass window.Cade groaned and removed his seatbelt, then forced the half smashed car door open and got out of the car. Track me through my phone’s location, I’ll try to keep it on me for as long as I can before they take it, just in case their aim is to kidnap me.” H

Cade was immediately admitted for treatment. He had lost a lot of blood since he was stabbed, and was so close to passing out. Macaulay however, had work to do. He contemplated reporting the case to the president before leaving, or just leaving to get his answers. He chose the last option after a little while of deliberation. Even though he told the president, he could do almost nothing to help other than increase security. Macaulay wanted to step into fire. He left two of his men in charge of Cade before he left early the next morning after making sure Cade’s condition was stable. "Do not take your eyes off him for even a second," he said to them. The president was too surprised to speak when he was informed by Macaulay that Maxwell was the one responsible for Raegan’s kidnapping. Maxwell? Why would Maxwell of all people engineer such a plot to get his daughter kidnapped, and even attempt at murdering Cade? Was politics involved? He wondered so, because he knew that he and Senator Jordan were on the best of terms, and only talked just yesterday. Was it because he was Raegan’s ex? Despite the fact that Raegan and Maxwell broke up, the president hadn’t cut off the Jordan family because they were one of his oldest friends and also among his biggest political supporters. He had only told Maxwell not to come to the house anymore because Raegan didn’t want him anywhere near her. Macaulay found Raegan tied to a chair in the fourth room that he checked. He could see that she had been crying and wondered if Maxwell tortured her. "Did he touch you?" Macaulay asked as he untied her. She was still crying and whimpering so she could not speak at that moment. She was relieved to be rescued especially when she knew that Maxwell had planned to hurt her for denying his request. Macaulay was a bit confused by her response, so he assumed that Maxwell had indeed hurt her."What did he do to you?" He asked again. "I’m fine, don’t worry about me. I’m just relieved to see your face here because it means I’m safe now. He just slapped me but it doesn’t hurt so much now that I know I’ve been found." Raegan said, still crying. "Did he do anything else?" Macaulay asked with clenched fists.He wanted to know if Maxwell had sexually assaulted her but he didn’t know how to ask her that directly. Raegan walked up to Macaulay as they left the Senator's quiet compound. "Which of the hospitals was Cade taken to?" She asked, moving slowly and making Macaulay slow his steps to her pace. "We should go there," she continued, and Macaulay nodded in agreement. Then he excused her and went over to the president coming from behind them. "Me and Raegan will be going to see Cade at the hospital," he said, seeking the president's permission to let Raegan go visit Cade at the hospital. The president might insist that Raegan go home with him to eat, and change before going to the hospital, which was why Macaulay was asking first. Though he knew that Raegan would likely not agree to waiting much longer. She was obviously worried about Cade and until she sees him with her oen two eyes, she was not likely to stop worrying."That's fine," the president said. He was gloomy, and Macaulay could tell that it was from the just concluded incident with Maxwell and the Senator that made him so moody.

Cade and Raegan continued to talk as Macaulay left. Raegan wanted to be as close to him as possible, so she got on the bed with him and held him close. She was so relieved that he was alive.“Have you had anything to eat?” He asked her.“Don’t worry about me, I’m fine,”She replied.“There’s no way for me not to worry about you. You were kidnapped. You need to recuperate too.”“As long as you’re okay, I’m fine. Like I said, Macaulay got me out before he could so any lasting damage. I didn’t want to go back home to change and eat when you were here.” She said to him and he sighed.“Call Gale and have him arrange a meal for the both of us. Meanwhile, this VIP room has a shower. You can use it. I’ll tell him to also come with a change of clothes for you. I know you won’t leave even if I insist so this is a compromise.” He said and she smiled.“Even when you’re on a hospital bed, you’re still thinking of my well being. For a few months after that, his life was peaceful and devoid of any drama. He even moved to a calmer part of the city and bought a small one story house for the purpose of relaxation. He usually only went there during the weekends with Raegan where they would cook together and have dinner, then watch movies, or do some other activities together. The house was just for them to bond and be together without disturbance or distractions. Only a matter of time before Alex and his mother would begin to reveal their plans again. His father's mistress, Cassandra and her son, Alex, harboured their dark plans underneath their silence. They had been silent for a while now, but it was only because they had things up their sleeves. Cassandra, who was the master of evil plots, while her son only waited to be told what to do made new plans. But towards the back of the property, a part of the wall had been left unguarded because the guards left to give Cade and Raegan some privacy. The lovers had dinner on the terrace on a picnic mat spread for that purpose and danced after that. After making a toast and sharing a kiss, they got so lost in each other that they were going to make love right outside. Cade signalled the two guards patrolling close by to leave so he could have time with his woman, it was his property after all so they could make love wherever they wanted. The assassin had been watching the house from afar for days trying to find a weak spot in the security that he could exploit. When Cade and Raegan stepped inside after they were done, Cade forgot to call the patrolling guards back to their duty post so the person hired to poison his car came in through a hole in the chain link fence that he silently made using a tool
