Raegan led the way and they went to the garden. The walk to the garden was plagued with an awkward air so that Raegan began to hum a song and Cade followed suit, humming a different song and they both produced a disastrous melody together. The beginning of the date was even more awkward and disastrous than the walk had been. They got to the garden and Cade saw that as the president had said, it was decorated in the most romantic way he had seen. He wondered why the president had done this. He would ask Raegan. Cassandra had told her son of how Cade came to question her. She did not know what Cade was up to with his questions, but she knew it would be no good for her son. Alex was utterly angered by the information from his mother. What was Cade's fucking business in this matter? He knew too, that Cade was up to something. He is always up to something, isn't he? Alex did not want to tell himself the truth: he knew why Cade had interviewed his mother. And even though his mother did not know what reason Cade had come to her for, he could very much tell that Cade knew something he was not supposed to know. The bullet went through Cade’s left arm and he groaned in pain. His guards immediately stepped forward to apprehend Alex or possibly beat the living daylights out of the boy but once again, they were held back by Cade. “You’re just a spineless bastard, Alex. Cade had not seen Raegan since the incident with Alex. He did not want to bother her with his problems, so he did not reach out to her. But Cade did not know that this decision of his made the lady feel a certain type of way. Raegan did not like it that Cade had not reached out like he promised to. She was expecting his call the next day after their date, but it had been almost a month now since the dinner date her father had arranged and Cade had not called even once. Cade had invited Ingrid over to his place while he was still at his mom's. He had scheduled their meeting for today, the day he left his mother's place and back to his own apartment. He hoped the lady would like to be there for what he called ‘a chitchat’ in his mail to her. When the lady reached out to the number he added on the mail, he was sure that she would honour his invitation. So, after the call with Raegan, he got ready and went downstairs to his living room to await his guest. He had the intention of recording the conversation he would have with her too. The evening ended on a good note for Cade. Raegan called him as she had said she would. They talked till late into the night and by the time the call was over, both participants smiled themselves to sleep. They agreed on a time for when they would have the movie date suggested by Cade. But Cade kept the location a secret. He wanted to surprise Raegan. They would have the date during the weekend. Cade could not wait. Raegan herself looked forward to it. During the week, Cade got himself busy with work and curating his evidence against Alex meticulously. No iota of information was to be missing from his documentation. He wanted to make sure he had every evidence possible to bring Alex to book. But he would also begin gathering evidence for when Alex and his mother tried to kill him years ago. Cade was not sure which of the men had been in the car with him that day, but he knew it was not Alex's boys. They had been hired just for the purpose of killing him that time. After so many years
