The day for the next court hearing was quick to come by. It was just two weeks away from the last court hearing. The Bellwethers were present as they were the last hearing. Cade hoped that the verdict would be passed today so he would not have to waste any more time on the case. It already took too long and he had other businesses to attend to. Yes, he wanted his revenge, but this was taking quite some time. Time that he would have spent on other more productive things. As far as he was concerned, the Bellwethers were not worth wasting time over. He walked into the court room, a few minutes late to the hearing because he had an emergency at work to attend to. He made his way to a seat at the front, just beside his lawyer. A few minutes after he had sat down, the judge came in and the proceedings began. Cross examination was over and a new process in the proceeding was to begin today, after which Cade hoped that the verdict would be passed. His lawyer went in front of the court room a
"Your honor," the lawyer saluted as he began. "We have heard the prosecutor speak and now I will take up some points of his that I find disagreeable." The lawyer paused for a moment as if to gain his stance before continuing. "The defendant claimed that his client locked up the Bellwethers illegally to prevent them from fleeing the country again, as well as making way for Mr Barnes to appear before the board members of his company. Now, while all that is reasonable, am I sure the defendant knows that that was a case of limitation of one's right to movement by another? What if one of them had died while in unlawful captivity? While the client of the defendant was trying to protect his own interest as a result of the bitter vengeance that burnt in his heart, he forgot that the Bellwethers are first humans before they are to him, callous people. He should not have taken the law into his hands, that is a hate crime. I'll move on from that, now." The lawyer paused again. Cade frowned at b
With the Bellwethers out of the way now, Cade could focus on more important things and people in his life. Things like new partnerships and ambassadorial deals, and people like his mother and his lover, Raegan. Most especially Raegan. They had not been spending enough time together since the Bellwether case began and now that it was over, Cade was going to make time for her. She had not complained about their lack of physical closeness even though they spoke on the phone and video called each other everyday. She was being understanding and giving him space because she also understood what it meant to have a busy schedule. He was so grateful to have a woman like her. If he had still been with Hailey, she would have been nagging him and trying to manipulate him emotionally to spend time with her. A few days after the verdict from the court, Cade decided to surprise Raegan. She was patient with him and she deserved the world. He had an idea he thought she would like in mind. All he had t
The tourist centre was a big surprise for Raegan. She had never been there, so she did not know that that was where Cade was taking her until they got there. On the way, Cade stopped some metres away from the location to blind fold Raegan. She found this little action quite funny, but she played along. After he had blindfolded her, he continued driving till they got to the place. Then he stopped right in front of the gate and removed the blindfold from her eyes. "Look," he said to her. She looked at the gate, then at the logo just above the gate. She was shocked and she squealed excitedly as she realised where they were.Cade smiled at her. "You're welcome."She could not wait to see how amazing the place would be, what beauty it had in store for her visitors. Cade and Gale had done quite a good job at preparing the place for the event of surprising Raegan. They had spoken with the owners of the centre, and with the help of Cade's money, he was able to book the place so no one else
As he walked out, Maxwell remembered his relationship with Raegan. As always, it was a result of the match making from the president. Maxwell was a son of a politician, and the president thought it would be nice if his daughter was well acquainted with his friend's son. But under that guise of acquaintance, what the president really wanted was for his daughter to be romantically affiliated with his friend's son, because he thought it would help with his political career. Maxwell and Raegan's relationship had lasted for quite a long time. The duo dated themselves for a little more than three years, and broke up only the previous year, before Raegan met Cade at the graveyard that day. When Raegan and Maxwell met initially, they did not quite get along with each other. Raegan hated to see Maxwell so eager to be around her because she was used to men only wanting her so they could get close to the president, and Maxwell disliked Raegan because he thought that she thought too highly of he
Maxwell spent the rest of his day afterwards, stewing in the anger that even he knew was unreasonable. He did not ever want to see Raegan with another man that was not him, even though they had been broken up for two years now. And it wasn't because he loved her, he just didn't want her to be happy when he wasn't happy or in a relationship. He was more angry at Cade than he was at Raegan. It was as though Cade had beat him to the game of being the only person Raegan was so much in love with.He knew that Cade was the owner of the Milton Conglomerate and that it would be hard to hurt Cade as much as he badly ached to do. But he wanted to hurt Raegan. As if cheating on her was not enough for him. Hurting Cade will hurt Raegan and maybe when she was heartbroken, she would run back to his arms again. As he lay on his bed, his hands behind his head, he devised a plan to carry out his malicious intentions on his unsuspecting and innocent ex-lover whose only crime was to unknowingly show he
Cade stood up and made to move. The president and his daughter followed behind him. Outside the apartment, Raegan's father insisted vehemently that Cade followed them in the presidential vehicle that was flooded with bodyguards. Cade could fight for himself and he knew he did not need so ,uch extra protection, but the president was insistent. He was coming with them, and that was final so they should just join him at once.Cade finally caved in and got in with the president and Raegan. The president always wore a bulletproof vest and now he was thinking of getting some customized for Raegan. The drive to the Milton Conglomerate took them approximately forty minutes. The first car to arrive at the company's premises was filled with bodyguards, followed by the one that housed Cade, Raegan and the president, then behind them was the final one also filled with bodyguards. The bodyguards in the first car got down and arranged themselves in a pattern before Cade, Raegan and her father cam
The next day, Maxwell walked into the company building, smiling at the receptionist. He looked devilishly handsome in the tuxedo that he wore, so that the receptionist got hot just from looking at him. He knew he had an effect on her and she wasn’t the only one. Other women stared at him with awe or longing as he walked past them and it made him smile proudly. He knew that he was such a handsome and irresistible man, and it warmed his stomach each time he saw a woman getting all hot and flushed from just looking at him. How could Raegan resist him when he looked like this? How dare she abandon him and go with another man when so many other women wanted him? To Maxwell, she should be grateful that he even wanted her. He brought his wrist to his face to look at the time, but what he was actually doing was showing off his expensive wristwatch that was now glittering under the sunlight that casted rays through a window in the reception. "How may I help you sir?" The receptionist said. M
