That evening, he returned home and made his way to the living room. The events of the past few days were still taking a toll on him and he couldn't for the whole thing to end. He had just finished talking with Mark about their next move. Plopping down on the couch, he rubbed his temples while trying to ease the headache that was slowly starting to throb in his skull. He shut his eyes for some time, until he heard something. He opened them immediately and wondered where the sound had come from. The fact that she was still fidgety despite my attempts to calm her down was a very clear message that she was still very worried and didn't trust us to say what she had to say. Cage felt like the ground had been pulled out under him. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "What? How did this happen?" He asked in pure shock as he scanned his mind, wondering if he had misheard her. He blinked twice subsequently and pinched himself to make sure that this wasn't a dream and he wasn't living a nightmare. But none of the things he did convinced him that the nightmare was real. Chloe was in the living room when the news came up. She was staring at the TV in disbelief a she heard what what were saying about Cage. It was alarming to think that it would get so bad to this extent and it made her wonder if they were really telling the truth about him. She was beginning to believe that might be possible because Cage had really vanished since the accusations began. He hadn't said anything to prove that he was innocent and that gave her a lot of trouble because he could be on his way to hail if things continued this way. Two days later, Cage was in his house, particularly sitting at his desk in his study. The last few days had been a whirlwind of confusion and anxiety. The cops were still outside the estate where he was leaving, so he hadn't been able to leave the house since then, until he had been proven to be innocent. It was a very tiresome time for him and he couldn't wait to be done with it. That was the moment that his phone suddenly rang. He thought it was from his assistant or Mark but when he peered into the phone it was a strange number. It was strange because he didn't know who it was and because the caller ID was only composed of very short numbers that nobody in the state used. It almost looked foreign, and he prayed that it was the government house so he could be done with this. He knew that something was still out there, searching and waiting for him to slip so they could strike. And he knew that he had to make sure that he didn't. He was very happy because the problem had been solved at least and he just had to find out the main person behind the fake rumours.
