SURROUNDED BUT ALONE

That evening, he returned home and made his way to the living room. The events of the past few days were still taking a toll on him and he couldn't for the whole thing to end. He had just finished talking with Mark about their next move. Plopping down on the couch, he rubbed his temples while trying to ease the headache that was slowly starting to throb in his skull. He shut his eyes for some time, until he heard something. He opened them immediately and wondered where the sound had come from.

It sounded like something had fallen but it was closer to a thud than a loud crash. He was the only person in the house and that made him very confused. He didn't expect that anybody would try to attack him, so he pushed off the thought. But the foreboding returned and he decided to check it out.
