A CONFESSION

My hands gripped the edge of the table as I looked at Marcia who sat across from me. Her eyes were wide with fear, darting around the room like a trapped animal. I was so angry at her because she had no idea how close she was to being dragged to court if she didn't start talking and confessing about what she had done. She thought it was going to be easy for her to deal with my reputation and just get away with it like nothing happened.

"We've got all your calls and recordings, Marcia," I said as Mark and Dave settled on the seats beside me. I didn't want to scare her more than necessary, but she needed to understand the gravity of the situation.

"You need to tell us who you were talking to, or you'll be facing serious charges." I said, trying to sound normal even though I was more than angry with her deep down. Given another choice, I would have hit her until she bled. She shook her head as the tears spilled down her cheeks.
