CHAPTER 11

Oliver went back to his apartment wondering about Julie's nightmare. Her dream was weird but it was a premonition to him that he cannot keep his secret forever.

A day will come when anyone will know that he is a son of a rich CEO and Carter is his stepbrother.

While Oliver was slowly fixing the broken sole of his shoes, he heard a knock on the door.

''Come in.'' The door opens and he sees pair of black shoes on the floor. He looked up and saw his father.

''What are you doing here?'' he asked and stood up.

''I will not fire you from the company. You can go back to your work tomorrow.'' Mr. Thompson commanded looking around the small room, ''I think you also need to move to a five star hotel so you can sleep properly and I will take care of paying. Everything.''

''I already told you, I don't need your help.'' Oliver was annoyed. ''I don't care if you don't fire me at the company but I won't go back there.''

"What about your new girlfriend? She's in debt. Can you pay her back? You Don't want her dead in an alley, do you?"

"How did you..." Oliver paused. He didn't say it wasn't his girlfriend, because the anger set him off, "Are you threatening me?"

“Never, my dear son,” said his father. “I just want you to know the urgency.”

''Accept this million I gave, and this card, and so you can help her.'' A briefcase and a card was placed on the bed.

Mr. Thompson was about to leave when Oliver stopped him.

“Wait a minute,” he said coolly. “There's one more thing I need your help with.”

The next morning, Oliver went to the other apartment where Julie lived. "Oh! How are you, Oliver?" Julie greeted, tying her long hair.

"I wanted to leave you something." Oliver was carrying the briefcase containing a million bucks when he showed it to Julie.

"Where did this come from? Did you steal it?" Julie was shocked. She couldn't believe that she would see so much money.

"I didn't steal it. I wanted to give it to others who need it more," said Oliver but Julie was suspicious of him.

"Why would you give it to me? Why don't you tell me where you get it? We'd better take this to the authorities." Julie was nervous that someone might be looking for the money and that she might be doomed if Oliver left it to her, she was already traumatized by her ex-boyfriend who left her trouble in debt, but this one was different.

"If you don't want to accept it, it's up to you what you do with it." Julie was silent with many thoughts that she would not know the answer.

Oliver turned his back on her and left her with the briefcase.

"That Oliver is weird." She cried, she held the money and she couldn't help but be nervous. Julie immediately locked the door in her room to avoid someone entering.

On the other hand, Oliver is walking alone on the road where he can see many different shops. He stopped walking for a moment when a pair of shoes caught his attention. He wanted to go inside to check on it but the saleslady blocked his way.

"Can't I come in?" Oliver asked, "You can come in as long as you buy shoes." The woman insists that she looked at Oliver's clothes which has some blood stain because of his wound.

"I'll just take a look at the shoes, isn't that allowed?" She was annoyed, she still wouldn't let him in.

"I'll just waste my time if you don't buy one." The saleslady gets irritated and Oliver don't want to argue and was about to leave.

"Wait a minute!" a female high-pitched voice could be heard on the back making Oliver nervous. He saw a smooth and white woman's hand on his right shoulder.

"This poor man can't buy his shoes. Miss, can you help me find a pair of shoes fit for a stupid man like him?" Merideth said sarcastically.

Oliver bit his lip in response to Merideth's insult. The saleslady was confused to see the familiar faces of the people who were talked about in their town.

They went inside and Merideth looked around and Oliver just followed looking at the woman who showed her true colors.

"Do you want anything, Oliver?" Merideth asked with her arms crossed.

"I want to know why you stoop this low?" Oliver said emotionlessly.

"I told you, Oliver. You have no value to me. I only played with you because I wanted to. I got what I wanted but I can't accept that you are Carter's step-brother." Merideth said softly, she looked around to see that no one else could hear what they were talking about.

"I can't accept that either, that arrogant Carter is my brother and you're his girlfriend I used to know," Oliver replied seriously. Merideth grinned covering her nose because she could smell Oliver's stench.

"Excuse me? There's no problem between the two of us. You're the only one who isn't acceptable Oliver, you're irritating. You're like a fish that wants to squeeze into a tight can. Can you please stay away from us?!" She dictated. Oliver shook his head.

"Interesting. I've moved away, but you're the one who comes closer, for what? "

"What... You vain rat. You are not the reason why I came here. I wanted to visit a friend in this neighborhood." She bragged about her money and took a pair of nice black shoes. She didn't want to admit that he was correct. She saw Oliver here, and she wanted to approach him to show off those shoes that he cannot afford.

"Shopping? That's funny. Because I also remember that day you were blocked by a saleslady in a dressing shop, you wanted to buy a beautiful red dress but you couldn't because you didn't have any money. But I came to buy that for you, which you wore the night you cheated on me." Oliver asserted.
