CHAPTER 144

Oliver continued to sit with the workers in the company lounge, even though he was now the acting CEO. He felt more comfortable eating with the workers than in the fancy executive dining room.

As he finished his sandwich, a few workers approached him to chat.

"Hey Oliver, how's it going as the boss?" one of them asked, half-jokingly.

Oliver smiled. "It's going well. I'm still getting the hang of things, but I have a great team supporting me."

"Yeah, we know you do," another worker chimed in. "But we're a little worried about what's going to happen when your step-brother Carter comes back. He's still the real CEO, right?"

Oliver sighed. "Yes, he's still the CEO. But he's taking some time off to heal. I'm just filling in for him in the meantime."

One of the workers spoke up, "Honestly Oliver, I think you're doing a better job than Carter ever did. You're more approachable, you listen to our suggestions and ideas, and you don't make us feel like we're beneath you."
