CHAPTER 157

Oliver sat in the spacious living room of his family's mansion, his eyes glued to the news on the large screen TV. His stepbrother Carter sat beside him, watching in silence as the newscaster reported on the recent fire at their family-owned computer technology building.

"Thank God the building wasn't completely destroyed," Oliver muttered, relief evident in his voice. "We can't afford to lose all that equipment and data."

Carter nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's a good thing the firefighters were able to contain the fire. Otherwise, we would've been in deep trouble."

Their father, a successful tech entrepreneur, entered the room and joined them in watching the news. He listened intently to the newscaster's report, a furrow forming between his brows.

"I can't believe this happened," he said, shaking his head. "We've invested so much time and money into that building. It's a shame that it was damaged."
