As soon as both of them walk into the library together eyes were already being targeted at them and Rex casually looked at Lyra to see her reaction to all of this she was just walking beside him as if she did not notice the people that were staring at them and even whispering too.
He could already guess what they were thinking, what was the most popular girl in the entire University doing with the biggest loser. She decided that she was going to leave eventually the moment she saw her people were going to be treating her differently so he did not have to worry himself too much about lecturing her.
"I've noticed you are coming often to the library these days... rather than the training hall..."
she said to him as he was casually relaxing in his seat, initially, he wanted to ask how she knew his daily routine but then he waved it off and just decided to focus on studying there was no way he could get 100 gold bars so he had to pass this exam.
"Rex it seems that you are a very quiet person, you haven't made a single comment about anything that hasn't been said since..."
He looked up at her, closing the book that he had found on the table for reading when he came there.
"As I said we are just studying together, but that does not mean that we are friends or anything like that.."
she smiled, placing her head on her hands that were folded together.
"You don't have to worry about that at all, I've never wanted to be your friend in the first place..."
"you didn't?"
Rex was surprised by her response, he thought with the way the girl was following him like a lost familiar that she probably wanted to be his friend.
"You probably don't know this about me but I'm from a very important family. I also plan to graduate as the best student in this university...."
As she was saying this she was flipping through the book that was in front of her but she was satisfied that she had more of Rex's attention.
"So the thing is that nobody really gives me the thrill of a challenge. It's so boring because I feel like everything is practically being handed to me on a silver platter... and when I heard about you I was so excited to finally find a worthy opponent..."
At this point, she had full attention. He thought that she just wanted to be his friend but she was breaking his expectations because she wanted something totally different.
"So what are you trying to say with all of this?"
he said to her, closing the book in his hands and placing it carefully on the table while giving her an unblinking gaze.
"I want to see you at your strongest so that I will finally have a worthy challenge, and with that, I will know that I have truly earned the title of the strongest wizard and make my family proud...."
Rex actually found himself being a little impressed.
it seemed that the girl was more like him than he had expected and for now, she could be a useful alliance.
"No wonder you don't mind people looking down on you, as long as you get what you want..."
She smiled and nodded, affirming what he had said. He was a bit surprised that she was being so forward but that was not important at the moment he stood up from his seat and then put it back into place inside the table.
"I've heard about your skills but I've never really seen you fight properly. Do you mind having a sparring match with me?"
her eyes seem to glitter like gems asking that question.
"you don't really mean it!"
she said, bolting up from her chair, almost knocking it down to the ground.
"Let's go!"
she held his hand trying to pull him out of the library but then he shook his head peeling off her hand.
"We can't spar now, we'll be having a class in a few minutes so after classes, I will be able to truly analyze your skill..."
"you won't be disappointed!"
she said with determination burning in her eyes he just simply tilted his head with a shrug " I'm afraid that you might get disappointed by me though I'm flattered with all these things you're saying it's possible that I might just end up with these two enchantments and remain the freak of the school."
"Don't worry about that Rex I'll never let that happen, "
she said in a very determined voice.
"No matter what happens, even if the other students keep trying to get you expelled, I'm going to make sure that that also never happens so that we can have our epic battle..."
After saying this she then said to him,
"So should we start heading to class now?"
as they were walking back to class together the whispers were getting worse and it seemed like people were trying to bury them with their eyes.
"Lyra, are you really sure you are fine with all of this? some people seem like they're going to push you down the stairs when you're not looking soon..."
she just smiled and waved a hand.
"I wouldn't pay any attention to them, the person that I want to focus on is right next to me so even if I wanted to pay some attention to those people that have nothing to do I wouldn't be able to..."
Rex finally sighed giving up on lecturing the girl genius anymore after all it was her whole life if she started getting bullied and people started harassing her at least his conscience would be clear knowing that he had warned her that all of these things will happen soon after they walked into the class the prof also came in as well with a very stern expression.
"I have an announcement for all of you concerning your forthcoming exams."
.........The professor was surprised to see Lyra sitting next to work, but he did not make any comments about it and just went home with the important announcement that he had come to tell them in the first place. "The exams have been adjusted by the higher council of wizards that run this University which I am also a member of I must note..." Rex began to feel his breathing becoming regular but he maintained a straight face because you could sense that the girl sitting next to him was staring at him intensely as if she was trying to shoot a hole through his head then his eyes remained on the professor as the man said that the decision to adjust the exams had gone through a lot of thorough examination and had been seen as the best decision. "There is going to be a group section of the exam, so if you do well in your other classes but then you fail in the group work it is seen as an overall failure..." As soon as the professor said this the entire hall was taken over by every morning as the
After both he and the girl collided with each other Rex saw stars for a few seconds before his bearings finally came back to him and then he got up he saw that the girl was still struggling to get up as well and so he held his hand with an apology."Sorry, I didn't see you there..."Immediately his hand was slapped away after you made that comment and she glared at him with eyes burning like freshly lit flames."What do you mean you can't see me? Am I some kind of mushroom that is so tiny that it is impossible for you to see me?"After she made that comment he took a closer look at her physique and you tried not to laugh when how small she was someone would have easily confused her for a child that was crossing 15 or 14 but if she was in the university she was bound to be older than that as there was a certain age restriction for entrance into the magical University."I didn't mean it like tha-""Rex doesn't mind her, that's just how she is and I could clearly see that she was the one
As Rex walked into the dorm he could feel that somebody was following him but he pretended not to notice and kept walking towards his room it became more and more of yours and it was hard to avoid. This disturbing stalker kept following him until he finally stopped and turned. He was not surprised to see that it was his bully Kelvin that had been following him all along, and he sighed."Look whatever you have to say, can it wait till tomorrow? I need to recharge my energy right now..."As always the bully had an entourage following him, Rex could not remember a single time that he had ever seen the boy in front of him alone even when he was in the washroom he would still have somebody following him like a lost familiar."You seem to be getting cocker and cocker every day, anyways I don't have much to say. I just want to wish you good luck on your duel tomorrow."The bully said with a snicker as he looked at his friends."But I guess that you don't need any luck when you have your girl
The next morning Rex woke up with the duel in his mind he knew that there was no way he could lose, for one that will make him a bigger joke in the school when he was still trying to get up his image, and also he would have to apologize to that rude small girl that had a tongue that was a sharp as a dagger. But he was still curious why Lyra didn't want that girl in their team well there was only one way to find out and that was to ask her again today, but as he was arranging his bed he hoped that it was something that could be overlooked because he was still struggling to even find a fourth member of their group and the deadline was getting closer by the day. When he was done arranging his bed he looked at his roommates and the other boy seemed as if he was going to jump out of his skin. "What do you want now?" Even though his tone was still not friendly Rex could sense that his voice was trembling as he spoke to him. "Well I realize that you changed the lock yesterday, someth
None of the students was actually focused on the class that was going on even though they were supposed to be because their exams were coming up and they were very close. Instead, all of them were placing their bets on who would lose and who would win the duel that was going to happen after classes. Of course, as it was going to be held in the university training hall, they would first have to gain the permission of a professor who would also observe the duel so that it would not go too far and there would be no cheating or serious injuries out of it. The professor that they got permission from was called Prof Gregor who taught magical history and culture, he was usually easygoing but could draw the line when his students were coming unruly. Before the duel began Rex had asked Lyra if she had any information about his opponent and then she told him, as they were walking along the hallways towards the training hall after classes that the girl was mostly a wind enchantment user even
The time limit for the deal was about to end and if that happened without either of them taking the other down then it would be a draw. Both of them were waiting right now and especially Miranda was looking very exhausted from the fight that had already gone past an hour she was throwing everything she had in each attack and that was why she was getting more fatigued. Initially, he was waiting for her to drain herself so that he could easily subdue her and then he would easily win the fight however she was not allowing him to get close to her and she was becoming more aggressive by the moment as adrenaline was pumping through her body. "don't you think you are taking this a little too far?'' he asked her, concerning his voice and then she looked like him and scoffed. "You must seriously be joking right now, just admit it you know I'm going to win that's why you want me to give up." As she was saying this habit was ragged, and he could see that she was only moments away from col
Rex had resigned to having to take her down with force when he noticed that there was something weird with how she was absorbing and dispelling energy to make her enchantments, her fingers began to twitch and tremble which was a sign that she was obviously overworking herself. After he noticed that; he decided to give up the duel, she wasn't going to be much use in his team if she hurt herself and ended up staying on bed rest throughout the exam. That would defeat the point of having her on the team. "Miranda, why don't we just stop this, you win, okay?" He said waving his hand at her and the response that he got immediately was her sending another blade-sharp wind enchantment his way."you must be a really stupid fireball freak, you think that you can run away from this I'm going to pound you to the ground and then you will respect me! everyone in this university will give respect me!" Rex raised his eyebrows."That's not why I'm raising a white flag," he said as he adjusted his
Rex was feeling dizzy after that hectic fight and even with that severe injury that he had gotten on his head he was still holding his ground as it kept the enchantments on so that the girl called Miranda would love to go on a rampage she was visibly very upset that she had lost the duel and was not taking it well. It was even worse when she heard the words coming from around the outer area of the training Hall behind the pillars and her heart sank. They were all looking at her like a loser. Suddenly Rex spoke to her. " It's over now, I've won ..." he said while dragging the words out because he was barely even able to stand at this point. "No I can't lose to you I can't become a laughing stock this match has to go on!" he tightens the hold of his water chain making sure not to hurt her as much as he could but she even struggled all the more "I can't do this, I can't do this, I'll never be able to show my face anywhere again in this university!" And that she was saying this t
