Jason sat in the hospital room, staring blankly at the TV screen. His body was healing, but his mind felt shattered. The news played on the small screen, but he wasn’t paying attention—until he saw her.

Samantha. The woman who plated with his heart. She was a nice girl the first time she talked to him. She showed interest in him, and he’s a fool to believe her. It was just bet they were playing, and he was the victim.

She was wearing a beautiful white dress, her smile radiant. She held onto the arm of a tall, muscular man in a suit. The caption below the screen read:

**“School Sweethearts Tie the Knot: Samantha Evans Marries College Star, Brandon Cole.”**

Jason’s heart clenched. His hands trembled as he gripped the bedsheets. Brandon Cole. The man who had tormented him for years. The man who had made his life a living hell. And now, Samantha was with him.

Betrayal. They all laughed when the whole campus learned that he had fallen into their game. He was mocked, laughed at and bullied for that. The were calling him delusional for thinking that Samantha might like an ugly man like him.

It hit Jason harder than any punch, any stab wound. His body had survived the fire, but his heart burned now in a way he couldn’t describe.

Rage bubbled inside him. After the fire incident, he was a new person now.

“From now on, I will never let anyone looked down on me.” He gritted his teeth in anger.

Jason let out a bitter laugh, but it sounded hollow. He felt empty.

Just then, the hospital door swung open. A tall man in a black suit stepped inside. His sharp eyes locked onto Jason. He had an air of authority, like someone used to giving orders.

“Jason Reed,” the man said, his voice deep and firm.

Jason barely acknowledged him. “Who are you?” he muttered.

The man didn’t answer immediately. He stepped forward, pulling a chair closer. “Your father is dead.”

Jason’s head snapped up. “What?”

The man’s expression didn’t change. “And your grandfather is waiting for you.”

Jason frowned. “Grandfather? I don’t have a grandfather.”

“You do,” the man said. “And he has been looking for you for a very long time.”

Jason shook his head, confused. “I think you got the wrong person, sir. I have no family, and no one’s looking for me.”

The man’s jaw tightened. “No, I don’t.” He leaned forward. “You are Jason Falkner, the only grandson of William Falkner, the founder of Falkner Enterprises.” The man declared.

Jason’s breath caught in his throat. What? Who is this man?

Jason had heard about that family, a very rich and famous family. An untouchable.

“That’s impossible.” He shook his head in disbelief.

The man stood up. “Your grandfather has ordered me to bring you home.” The man said in finality.

Jason didn’t move. This had to be some kind of joke. A rich grandfather? Billions of dollars? It sounded like a fairy tale.

The man’s patience was wearing thin. “Get up, sir. All you bills are paid now. We have to get going now, or they will find you here. We don’t want any trouble, right?”

Jason hesitated. He looked at Kane, who had been silently watching from the corner of the room. Kane gave him a nod.

“Go,” Kane said. “See for yourself.”

Jason’s jaw dropped. Did Kane knew all along?

“You knew about this? Who are you people?” He was so confused. He wanted answers.

Jason swallowed hard. He wasn’t sure what was happening, but there was nothing left for him here.

Kane nodded at him. “Yes, I’m sorry. I knew all along.”

He stood up, ignoring the pain in his body, and followed the man.

***

Outside, a sleek black helicopter waited on the hospital rooftop. The sound of its blades cut through the night air, sending strong winds across the area. People on the ground stared in awe, pointing and whispering.

Jason felt out of place. Just yesterday, he was a prisoner, an outcast. Now, he was stepping onto a private helicopter like some VIP.

The man gestured for him to sit. Kane climbed in beside him. The doors closed, and within moments, they were flying up in the sky.

Jason watched as the city lights shrank below him. His mind was racing. Was this real? Was he really the heir to a multi-billion-dollar empire?

“Where are we going?” Jason asked. He still find it hard to processed everything.

“To your home, sir.” the man replied.

Jason clenched his fists, his throat tightened. He had never had a real home. Just cold apartments, empty rooms, and a world that hated him.

Could this really be his chance at something different?

***

The helicopter landed on a massive estate. Jason stepped out and froze.

A mansion stood before him, towering and elegant, like something out of a dream. Massive golden gates opened as a line of people dressed in suits and uniforms stood waiting.

The moment Jason stepped forward, they all bowed.

“Welcome home, Young Master,” they said in unison.

Jason’s mouth went dry. He turned to Kane, who smirked. “Looks like you just hit the jackpot.”

Jason felt overwhelmed. He had been hated, bullied, and discarded his entire life. Now, people were bowing to him? His wanted to say but his tongue paralized, he was speechless.

Before he could process it all, an elderly man stepped forward. His face was stern, but his eyes held something… familiar.

“Jason,” the man said, his voice strong despite his age. “My grandson. Come here, give your old man a hug.” His voice now became softer as he stared at Jason.

Jason stared at him. “Are you… really my grandfather?” he asked, hesitated a bit.

William Falkner nodded. “Yes. And I’ve been searching for you since the day you were born.” He answered, emotional.

Jason felt a lump in his throat. “Why now? I don’t know what to say.”

His grandfather’s face darkened. “Because your father kept you hidden from me. He wanted nothing to do with this family, and he made sure you didn’t either. But now, he’s gone… and you are my only heir.”

Jason shook his head. “This doesn’t make sense. I’ve spent my whole life being treated like garbage. Why would I suddenly be important? And, I was abandoned by my parents because of my hideous face.”

His grandfather stepped closer. “Because you are my blood. And blood matters more than anything. I don’t care how you look. You are a Falkner, and you are my heir.”

Jason didn’t know what to feel. This was all too much. Just yesterday he thought all hopes were gone for him.

His grandfather gestured toward the mansion. “Everything here is yours. The company. The wealth. The power. You can take it all.”

Jason swallowed hard. A few hours ago, he was a nobody. Now, he was being handed a fortune.

He looked at Kane, who shrugged. “Might as well take it, kid. Life hasn’t been kind to you. Maybe it’s time you take what you deserve.”

Jason turned back to his grandfather. The thought of power, of never being weak again, stirred something inside him.

Maybe this was his chance to finally be someone. He thought of the people who bullied him, the people who were disgusted of him.

Slowly, he nodded.

“I’ll stay.”

His grandfather’s lips curled into a small smile. “Good. Then let’s begin.”
