Alarick and the rest of the men in the station had geared up. Each man wore a kevlar vest complete with a gun, baton and holster. The equipment the station had wouldn't have been enough but Alarick had made a call for that also. The hired men came with their own legal equipment.Maurice turned to all the men in the station."You all have your various locations and you all know the drill. The door was kicked open and the men silently rushed into the room holding their guns up. The room had an open floor plan but was completely wrecked. Rat droplets, broken glass, discarded containers. They could only guess what would be in the other parts of the room.Alarick and Maurice took the lead and sneaked up behind the two low columns that separated the room from the kitchen. A sound like the clattering of pans rang through the room and they all alertly turned towards the sound. It came from a room behind them. Slowly, the two officers advanced towards the door with Alarick and Maurice following behind them. They all relaxed before the door was slightly opened up by one of the officers. He peeped through the crack and saw a figure squatting down in a corner of the bathroom. He winced at the smell that came out of the room but he ignored it. RISE OF THE DISCARDED SON-IN-LAW DOCTOR VISIT
It all happened in slow motion. There were two gunshots but only one bullet ended up lodged in Alarick's body. Alarick was pushed back by the force of the close range shot. His back hit the top cap of the booth before he fell back down on the table in front of him. Blood splattered and pooled on the table he just fell off. Maurice and the other officers acted quickly and rushed to the table. Maurice checked up on Alarick who was hunched over on the ground gasping for air while the other officers held Eddie down and restrained him. Maurice slapped Alarick's cheek in fear. "Alarick!" Alarick couldn't respond. He was winded from the shots but he could hear what was going on around him. "Fuck! Let go of me!" Eddie groaned. "Stay down bastard!" An officer replied. Alarick walked purposefully into the station after having his bruise checked by his family doctor. “I’m back. Has Eddie been checked out by the paramedics? Is he up for interrogation?”Upon hearing Alarick’s voice, Maurice looked up from his desk and removed his glasses.“You’re back early. Who allowed you to leave the hospital early?”Alarick, who now stood in front of Maurice’s desk, put his hands on his hips and looked around the room.“I have the right to leave when I want to, don't I?”Maurice followed his gaze. To him Alarick seemed chirpier than usual, like he was happy to be back here. He didn’t know if it was from the sheer excitement of getting important information or from the painkillers his doctor must have prescribed. It didn’t take long as a contract was drawn up in the police station by Allison with Alarick’s help. Alarick stepped back into the interrogation room with the paper in his hands. He placed it in front of Eddie who took it quickly to read. Alarick waited until Eddie looked satisfied with the contract he held. Alarick took out a pen from his suit jacket and slid it over to Eddie. “Is there anything you would want to change?”Eddie shook his head.“No. Everything you said you’d do is in here.”“So, you’re ready to sign?”Eddie looked at Alarick for a bit more to make sure that he was making the right decision. He had tried to think about it while the contract was being made but he couldn’t come up with a straight answer. Alarick drove as fast as he possibly could back to the police station. He ran into the building and straight to the interrogation room frantically searching for Eddie. Maurice, who was gearing up with some men, saw Alarick and shouted out his name."Alarick! Alarick! What the hell!"Maurice left the officers he was with and ran after Alarick. Alarick, Maurice and the rest of the officers in the station had worked and searched for the missing offenders till the sun came up. Some of them had fallen asleep during the night but none of them left to go home. Alarick rubbed his eyes due to the stress. He hadn’t rested since he came out of the interrogation room and joined them. He turned and looked at Maurice. Maurice had tried to stay awake for as long as he could but eventually fell asleep on his desk, his face shoved into a pile of papers.Alarick turned back to the work at hand. It was currently 9:12am. Several hours since Dylan contacted him. He had little time left and so much to cover. Having the officers search with him was a huge help but now that most of them were asleep the workload had piled up. He couldn’t blame them though. Alarick repeatedly tapped his foot anxiously on the floor as he sat down while waiting for Maurice to come out of the changing room.
