As the days went by, Brianna kept to herself. She still saw Alarick around the mansion but she never tried to seduce him again after she had been humiliated by him the last time. But she still saw him around the mansion and they still had dinner together. Alarick’s father was never unpleasant to her but he never acknowledged her presence either. It was as if she didn’t even exist. He supported Alarick’s decision to bring Brianna to the mansion to live with them for the sake of his grandchild, but he never pretended to like Brianna or tolerate her presence. She was the reason that Alarick had been humiliated by her family, and she had treated him worse than garbage when he had no money. All her pretence of humility right now was just because Alarick was now wealthy.Alarick also ignored her most of the time, and he thought of assigning her to clean the house with the other maids just to belittle her, but he reconsidered because he didn’t want the child she was carrying to be affected.

The driver jumped off Brianna as he heard Alarick’s voice ring through his ears. He knew what he had done was wrong but it was Brianna who seduced him and told him that nothing was going on between her and Alarick. Cillian sat at his desk in his study. He had been feeling uneasy for a while so he hadn’t left the house. He poured through an article while he had a glass of rare scotch before dinner. He didn’t drink a lot but on occasions he would have a glass. This was one of those occasions, when he was alone. Alarick finished his dinner and was about to head to bed when he decided to check up on his father because he seemed really upset after leaving the dining room earlier.
