Chapter 33

The constant beeping of the monitor filled the silence in the ward. Jack Sparrow looked pale while his eyes were closed in coma.

Fortunately, he had survived the attack inflicted on him by one of the men involved in Victoria's kidnap.

His house helps had fled the house, leaving Jack to die from the injury inflicted on him.

His head was wrapped with fresh bandages but by there was still a sight of blood on the side of the bandage. Victoria was nowhere to be found in the ward and the only people surrounding him were the nurse attending to him and checking his heart rate and to see if he was still breathing right.

The patron of his family and Doctor Vincent were hovering above the bed where Jack laid.

"Are you sure that he is going to be fine, doctor?" The patron asked with great fear, placing both hands across his chest.

Doctor Vincent let out a loud sigh before he went on to say; "I can't assure you about that, sir but let's just hope that he responds to the medications being administered to him."

"Oh my!" The patron let out.

"There is no need for you to fret yet, let's just hope that he responds to treatment." Doctor Vincent said.

He could already sense the fear in the man's voice and he didn't want him to get perturbed further.

Jack Sparrow had been rushed to the hospital during the early hours of the morning and by the time he got to the hospital, he had lost loads of blood which they had to replace immediately.

It was already too late for Doctor Vincent to do anything else because they had not brought Jack in as soon as he sustained the injury to the back of his head.

"Is there....is there nothing else you can do to speed things up? I mean to make sure that he starts responding to treatment quickly?" The patron asked.

"I'm afraid that there's nothing much I can do. The damage had already been done by the time he got here and there's nothing more I can do. Let's just hope...."

"Hope?" The patron cut doctor Vincent off abruptly.

"Hope isn't going to save his life, doctor, you have to reassure me that Jack will not die!"

Doctor Vincent sighed again. The situation was way worse than he had presented it before the patron but seeing his reaction, there was no way he could break the news to him.

Jack might not survive—he might as well as just die before the week runs out.

"I'll do my best, sir, I'm assuring you that!" Doctor Vincent said to put the man at ease.

"Meanwhile, I need you to come with me to my office. Are you the man's only relative?" Doctor Vincent asked.

"No, not at all." The patron replied him.

"Very well then, please come with me!" Doctor Vincent gestured toward the door.

As the patron made his way out of the ward, Doctor Vincent could not help but notice that Jack looked like familiar.

He tried to recall where and when he had seen Jack but to no avail. He knew Back was registered somewhere in his memory but he couldn't retrieve it.

"Doctor, is everything alright?" The patron asked, noticing the way the doctor stared at Jack intently.

"Yes, yes, everything is fine." Doctor Vincent blurted out, as he was jolted back to the present.

"I could have sworn that I've seen that man somewhere before." Doctor Vincent muttered under his breath—walking behind the patron.

"Nurse, make sure you report back to me. And if you notice any abnormalities in the man's heart rate, don't fail to call my attention to it." Doctor Vincent stopped to say to the nurse.

"Yes, Doc!" The young nurse who seemed to be in her late twenties replied.

At Doctor Vincent's office, The patron waa settled in a chair nervously while Doctor Vincent tried to get as much information as he could on Jack Sparrow.

After taking down everything about Jack Sparrow, a chord of remembrance had not been struck still.

"We've had to replace the huge amount of blood Jack lost.... "

"Uhm, Doctor." The patron interrupted, "I think I have to let you know this." His voice came out in a low tone as he scooted forward.

"Jack Sparrow is not in contact with his family at the moment." The patron let out.

Doctor Vincent rested his elbow on the table and kept his chin on the back of his palm as he listened to the patron speak.

"And I know that the cost of getting Jack well again is going to be humongous, but if you can just understand and...."

"I'm sorry to cut you there..." Doctor Vincent threw his palm out to the patron. He had already heard enough and he knew exactly where the patron was driving at.

"We have a policy in the hospital, sir and I'm sorry if we cannot commence treatment without a down payment first."

"I do understand the hospital's policy, but it's a life we are talking about...." The patron started.

Doctor Vincent sighed heavily and fell back on his chair. This was the same pathetic story he got from relatives of patients who couldn't afford the hospital's bills but still chose to have them brought in here.

A thought settled inside Doctor Vincent that caused him to sit upright and bulge his eyes.

"I remember now!" He let out, "...by any chance is Jack acquainted with Saint?"

Doctor Vincent didn't give the patron any chance to ponder on the question and instead went ahead to say: "of course he is. I remember I saw him at the wedding, that's why he looked familiar!"

"Forgive me, sir, but I had no idea that he was acquainted with Saint. But then, since he is, why don't you just get Saint to come heal him Instead. There's no hope for Jack anymore and he might die before we even wake up tomorrow."

He looked down onto his own body and noticed the blood stains all over his clothes—not a single drop of blood had spilled from him but rather the blood stains were from all the people he had slaughtered. Knowing that he needed to wash the blood stains off of him before he retired back to his clan so he wouldn't give his uncle another heart attack, he made his way back Into the building, hoping to find any place that he could wash the blood from him. The cloak of darkness still surrounding the whole place prevented him from finding his way to any bathroom outlet and there wasn't any room in sight, just a vast space filled with bodies of the people he had killed. The entire house was as silent as a graveyard by the time Victoria made it back. Not a single sound could be heard—the usual sound of the TV blaring was absent; As Jack never missed his nightly shows, not even for the world. But tonight was different from the rest. The house was equally as dark and Victoria had a hard time finding the switches so she could turn the lights on. "Jack?" Victoria called out, wiping the perspiration from her face, "Where the hell are you, Jack?" She called out again, but the only response she got was her voice echoing off the walls and bouncing back to her. It felt like the house was empty, there was not a sign of a soul in the house—all the house workers, including the security guard that was meant to be stationed at the gate had suddenly disappeared. Victoria marched up the stairs to be sure of what was happening. Had those men all taken everyone in the house out? It was possible that they would have, if they wanted to keep anyone back from coming af

She didn't know if to follow Saint or go back to Jack Sparrow; but the logical answer would be to go back to Jack's house and remain with him. There was no need to trying to patch things that was impossible to mend. "That bloody bastard!" Victoria emotions suddenly got the better of her, "he couldn't even lift a finger to save me!" She yelled out into the night, not caring who had heard her. "Why....why did I agree to divorce Saint and get married to a useless man like Jack Sparrow....that bloody idiot!""Oh gosh....I'm so stupid, I'm so stupid for letting Saint off just like that!" Victoria continued berating herself and tugging her hair in frustration. She sniffed back in the tears that threatened to cascade down her cheeks. She could
