Compromise

She felt cold, the chill is seeping through her bones. She tried to move but couldn't, it's as if her entire body is frozen. When she seeked to open her eyes, her lids felt heavy like a massive rock is keeping it shut. She attempted to move again, and when she did, a loud cracking sound filled the air.

The woman felt alarmed and scared, but she gave it another try, to her surprise, her left arm broke free. She brought her hand towards her face, but when it came parallel with her cheek, she felt something dripping from it.

The tiny drops that came in contact with her skin smelled metallic. It confused her.

In her taste of perplexity, a voice suddenly echoed inside the room she's confined in.

She would recognize that voice no matter how low or loud it sounded. No matter if the tone is cold or lively. It was the shadow.
