Chapter 7 Your Boss’ Last Name is Coleman
"Y-Yes, that's me," said Vivian. She'd been nervous, to begin with, and the sudden voice startled her.

Vivian raised her head to see a young woman in a neatly-pressed uniform standing not too far from her, smiling amicably.

"Welcome! Please come with me. You're our esteemed guest, and our general manager is waiting for you in her office!"

The young woman tensed a little when Vivian confirmed her identity. It was as if she was receiving an extremely important client.

The new receptionist had just started working here, and the general manager had personally instructed her to wait by the entrance for a woman named Vivian Lorimer. The general manager had also repeatedly warned her not to offend Vivian.

"Oh, uh, sure." Vivian felt like she was dreaming.

Esteemed guest? And what was it about the general manager of Globestone Investments waiting for her?

A few moments later, she was led into Wendy's office.

"Pleasure to meet you, Ms. Lorimer! My name is Wendy Snowden. I'm Globestone Investments' general manager, and I've been waiting for you."

When Wendy saw Vivian, she immediately strode forward to greet the other woman. As expected of the belle of Cromford, Vivian was indeed gorgeous!

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Snowden." Vivian was surprised to see how young she was.

After some small talk, they got down to business. "Ms. Snowden, I'm actually here today about the Lorimer Group—" Vivian started a little nervously.

"Ms. Lorimer, I don't think we need to waste any more time." Wendy waved a hand and cut her off.

"W-What?" Vivian couldn't believe her ears.

Wendy seemed to have been sucking up to her since she'd entered this office, yet she hadn't hesitated in the slightest now that Vivian wanted to move on to her true purpose for being there.

What the hell was she playing at?

"I'll be frank with you. Globestone Investments won't invest a dime in the Lorimer Group. No matter how you look at it, there's no salvaging the situation," Wendy explained with a smile.

"Oh, uh, okay. I understand. I guess I should get going now …" Vivian got to her feet listlessly, having lost all hope. She turned to leave the office soon after.

It looked like Wendy had only been so friendly earlier for Murray's sake.

"Wait, Ms. Lorimer! I think you've misunderstood me!" Wendy shot to her feet to stop Vivian.

The former suddenly broke out in cold sweat.

If Vivian had actually left before she could convey her boss' wishes, this would be the end of her tenure as the general manager!

"Let me make myself clear. Globestone Investments won't invest in the Lorimer Group, but we'll invest in you!" To prevent further misunderstandings, Wendy rushed to finish her sentence.

"Invest in me?" Vivian stared at her in surprise. What did Wendy mean by this?

"Yes, exactly! Globestone Investments has decided to invest 500 million dollars in you. We've already prepared the contract, so all you need to do is sign here. We'll take care of everything else." Wendy grabbed a contract from her desk and handed it over to Vivian.

"500 … 500 million dollars?" Vivian's ears buzzed.

Surprise after surprise had been flung at her since her arrival here. She'd only been targeting to get a tenth of that, but she was suddenly about to have 500 million dollars at her disposal. "Ms. Snowden, y-you're not joking, are you?"

"Feel free to review the contract, Ms. Lorimer." Wendy smiled and took a sip of her coffee.

Once again, she couldn't help feeling envious of Vivian for having such a wealthy husband. He hadn't even batted an eyelid when he'd told her to invest the 500 million dollars in Vivian!

Vivian sat down doubtfully and combed through the contract.

The more she read, the wider her eyes became.

The contract clearly stated that Globestone Investments would invest 500 million dollars in her, and it already had the company's official stamp and the president's signature on it. All that was missing was her signature!

She exhaled, trying to suppress her agitation as she asked, "May I know the reason behind this?"

Why was Globestone Investments investing in her and not the Lorimer Group? Vivian certainly wasn't naive enough to think she was worth more than her family's company!

"Because … Well, let's just say you have a lucky star around you!" Wendy smiled.

"A lucky star? Who is it?" Vivian frowned slightly. Could it be Murray? He couldn't possibly be this influential, could he?

"Ms. Lorimer, if you continue pressing for details, this collaboration may have to end before it even begins." Wendy dropped her smile. She didn't expect to almost expose Marcus because of her mischief.

Once again, she broke out in a cold sweat.

"Alright, alright. I won't ask anymore!" Vivian quickly signed the contract.

"Here's to hoping everything works out well!" Wendy walked Vivian to the building's entrance after the contract had been signed.

As for Vivian, she was distracted the whole way as she wondered who the so-called lucky star was and why that person was helping her.

The sum involved was much too large for this to simply be a kind gesture.

"Thank you for dropping by, Ms. Lorimer. We'll have the funds transferred to the bank account of your choosing by tomorrow afternoon," Wendy said happily. After all, she'd just successfully completed the first mission her boss had assigned her.

At this moment, something occurred to Vivian.

Shock filled her face as she slowly turned to look at Wendy and asked, "Ms. Snowden, I'm not sure whether I got it right, but I think I saw from the contract that your boss' last name is Coleman."
