Chapter 2: Reversal of Fortunes?

Seeing Alex go up to the second floor, someone immediately mocked and said, "Alex, go upstairs to eat. It will be really embarrassing if you don't have money to pay later."

Immediately, laughter echoed incessantly.

However, Alex paid no attention to them and continued to climb the stairs step by step.

Seeing Alex ignore them like that, others were immediately angered, and mockery ensued. "He suddenly goes to the second floor, surely to find Julia."

"Is he crazy? Isn't he afraid of getting beaten by Steven again? Does he really lose his mind because Julia stole his heart?"

"Let it be, ignore him. Let's wait until he gets beaten, and we'll have something fun to watch."

They spoke and laughed incessantly.

In their eyes, Alex was clearly nothing more than an ant facing Steven.

At this point, Alex had already reached the second floor.

The second floor had fewer people, with soothing music and a calm atmosphere, completely different from the first floor.

Seeing someone new coming up, the eyes of the others immediately turned towards Alex.

Contempt immediately appeared on their faces, and Steven's subordinates immediately started live streaming.

Mockingly, they said, "Oh my God, Alex is here to find Steven again. Doesn't he want to live anymore?"

At this point, almost all the students in the dining hall were holding their phones, eagerly awaiting the live stream.

On the screen, Alex walked towards Steven.

Others instinctively made way for him, with faces full of disdain, waiting for him to be knocked to the ground.

By now, Steven had also looked towards Alex.

He frowned slightly, feeling that Alex was different today, but he didn't think much about it.

Steven had a typical sly and cunning face, an overall appearance that made people feel uncomfortable.

Honestly, this appearance of Steven's could not possibly captivate Julia; she was only interested in money.

Julia was truly beautiful and lovely, with big round eyes, a high nose, and small, beautiful lips.

However, every time Steven touched her, a hint of disgust appeared in her eyes, hard to detect.

Sitting on his lap, Julia suddenly leaned back, her big eyes looking towards Alex.

She lowered her head slightly, showing a look of annoyance, and said, "Alex, I already have a boyfriend. Could you please stop bothering me?"

After six years of struggles on the battlefield, death, and rebirth, Alex now looked at Julia and felt a rolling nausea, truly not understanding why he could have fallen for someone like her back then.

Perhaps it was because he was too foolish.

Alex rolled his eyes at Julia, nodded, and said, "We're indeed better off not meeting again. But first, I hope you can return the jade bracelet on your hand to me."

Pausing for a moment, he continued, "I can overlook the fact that you shamelessly deceived me and not demand back the gifts I gave you. However, that bracelet is an heirloom left by my mother, only to be given to my future wife. Since you can't be my future wife anymore, please return it to me."

Julia looked down at the green jade bracelet on her hand, feeling the urge to laugh.

This bracelet looked cheap at first glance, but she just wanted to deceive Alex a bit, so she wore it in front of him.

Whether it was out of a love for luxury or just a habit, Julia had, however, forgotten about this bracelet.

On the other hand, Alex spoke as if she wasn't worthy of the bracelet, infuriating Julia to the extreme.

Steven had also stood up at this moment, towering over others by a considerable height.

Facing Steven, Alex truly seemed like a little child.

Steven frowned, his eyes filled with disdain and anger.

"Alex, do you even know what you're talking about? Do you think this cheap jade bracelet of yours is precious? It's an honor for Julia to wear it on her hand!"

Steven's subordinates quickly echoed his sentiments.

"Exactly, exactly! Some people are so poor that they've gone crazy, treating a worn-out bracelet like it's something valuable."

"Ha ha, you're absolutely right."

Mocking laughter resounded throughout the second-floor dining hall.

Those watching the live stream couldn't help but sneer at Alex.

Treating a worn-out bracelet like a treasure—only a determined poor person like Alex could do that!

At this point, Julia nestled into Steven's chest, wearing a tender and delicate expression.

She coquettishly said, "Steven, you must take charge of me."

Steven loved this side of her, especially when she helped him find an excuse to confront Alex.

Steven, the son of the principal, had a wealthy businessman as a father.

However, his academic achievements were not noteworthy, and he was a notorious bully in the school.

He despised those with good academic records like Alex.

So what if you have good grades? In the end, you'll still have to work for him.

Steven caressed Julia, glancing at Alex and saying with a low voice, "Alex, it's best if you apologize to my girlfriend properly. If not..."

He didn't finish the sentence, but his subordinates behind him were already smirking, and their intentions were clear.

Alex looked at Julia, his eyes slightly narrowed. "So, you're not planning to return this 'worn-out bracelet' to me?"

Seeing Alex behaving calmly like this, Julia couldn't help but frown a bit.

She pursed her lips, and her eyes filled with anger.

Why could Alex behave so calmly?

He should be ashamed and furious like a wild beast!

Steven, on the side, also tightened his brows and suddenly roared, "Alex, are you deliberately ignoring me?!"

Having said that, he stepped forward and threw a punch at Alex's stomach.

Alex embraced his stomach, taking a few steps back.

Steven's subordinates saw this and also began to advance.

"Alex, if there's anyone to blame, it's you for being excessively foolish, daring to offend Steven!"

"That's right. The last time you got beaten, you still haven't learned your lesson. Today, you dare to cause trouble again! Let us teach you a lesson!"

Julia stood on the side, smiling. Clearly, she had no intention of intervening.

As Steven's girlfriend, she naturally detested Alex as well.

Those watching the live stream felt the same way.

Some found this situation truly absurd, as Alex wasn't doing anything wrong.

However, they couldn't do much about it; they could only turn off their phones and leave the dining hall.

The remaining spectators remained enthusiastic, staring at their phone screens as if they were watching a movie, not an event happening right above them, just one floor away.

At this moment, Alex suddenly raised his head, his cold gaze fixed on Steven. "That hurts, little guy."

Facing the icy stare as if he had experienced countless battles with Alex, Steven's heart couldn't help but tighten, instinctively feeling a sense of fear.

His subordinates also hesitated, not daring to move forward.

Steven took a step back, then suddenly snapped back to attention.

How could he be afraid of the gaze of an orphaned kid? Alex had nothing worth making him fearful of!

Thinking so, Steven felt much more confident, but at the same time, a sense of frustration surged within him.

"You wretch, how dare you look at me like that?! I'll gouge your eyes out!"

With those words, he lunged forward.

Despite his mediocre academic performance, Steven's athletic abilities were well-developed, and he captained the school's rugby team every year.

Others anticipated the scene of Alex being beaten by Steven, expecting him to fall to the ground.

Steven thought the same.

However, Alex suddenly shifted one foot backward, one hand slightly arched, and with incredible speed, he punched Steven in the stomach before Steven could unleash his fist.

Steven's eyes widened, and drool spilled from his mouth.

He was sent flying by Alex, rolling on the ground, clutching his stomach, and groaning in pain.

Alex looked at his clenched fist, his brow slightly furrowed.

His body was still too weak at this point, not comparable to six years later, but it was enough to handle these guys roughly.

Alex took a deep breath glanced at Steven, and others were left stunned by the recent turn of events.

Not only those present on the scene but also the students holding their phones, eagerly following the developments, were bewildered.

They widened their eyes, suspecting they were not watching a live stream but a pre-edited video.
