The Plot For Revenge.

First thing in the morning, Noel had the black hood of his shirt up and head hung low as he stalked the streets of his familiar neighborhood.

Throughout the night he had dealt with several nightmares, tossing and turning as images of his wife and brother played out in his dreams, faces laughing at a failure of a man he had become. It was around dawn when he finally broke from the taunting hands of his nightmares, dripping beads of sweat as he panted heavily.

The unfamiliar room he was in quickly became familiar, so as the pain of betrayal that had been less than twenty four hours ago.

Thinking back to the scene that played out in his house, Noel once again felt shattered, but deep down, the better piece of him whispered words of encouragement and hope.

With forgiveness, he can always fix everything, the voice whispered, clouding his mind from the honest truth and before long, he was up from the bed he had laid, determined to mend back his life and forgive whatever atrocities Celine and Mark had committed.

And just like that, here he was, walking the familiar street of his neighborhood while adorning the black hoodie and sweatpants Circe had lent to him for the night. Up ahead was his house and on the lawn, Celine.

Beautiful, beautiful Celine.

She stood there in a beautiful yellow sundress and plain scaff, watering and fixing up her little garden that she had self grown during her free time. Noel stood from the distance and watched her. The peaceful and happy look on her face reminded him of the sanity that once ran in their small family of two and more determination brewed inside of him.

It was now or never!

He told himself. However, just as he was about to step forward and call out to Celine, a black expensive looking car drove pass him and stopped in front of his house.

Instantly, he recognized it as his brother’s car and without thinking, he ducked behind the nearest trash bin.

The thought of what he was doing only hit him seconds later.

What was he doing? Why was he acting like the one who has been caught having an illicit affair?

His thoughts were halted by Celine’s cheerful voice.

“Mark, you’re here.” She quickly ran into his arms and the two kissed.

“Hi baby. Guess what I have for you?” He asked and pulled out a bundle of red roses that he hid behind his back.

“Aw, they look so beautiful.” Celine said as she collected them. “Well, since you gave me something, it’s only right that I give something back too.”

After Celine said this, they both went silent. Noel was wondering what was happening and intended to stick his head out and check, but almost immediately, his actions were interrupted by Mark’s loud cheering.

“I can’t believe this! You’re pregnant?! Wonderful!”

Noel felt himself sink.

Celine was pregnant? With Mark’s child.

“This calls for celebration,” Mark continued to cheer loudly, unaware of his hurt brother who was listening in on the conversation. “Let’s go in.”

Celine smiled widely as she was ushered in like a fragile glass by Mark, the two laughing, chatting their hearts away as if they had done nothing wrong.

Once Noel heard the familiar sound of his house front door shut close, his body collapsed onto the floor and he remained sitting there, motionless for a while.

In the dark shadow of the dustbin can, grappling with the flood of emotions crashing over him. It was as if the universe had just dealt a cruel hand of cards for Noel, piling more pain onto his already shattered heart.

The weight of the revelation, that Celine, his wife, was Now carrying his brother’s child, threatened to drown Noel in an ocean of despair.

As his mind raced, he replayed their conversation in his head, each word carving deeper wounds into his already fragile and bruised heart. How could they be so callous, so oblivious to the pain they were inflicting upon him?

Noel’s breaths came in shallow gasps, as if the air itself had turned heavy and oppressive. He buried his face in his hands, feeling hot tears mingling with the sweat on his cheeks. The pain was overwhelming, suffocating him in its grip. Thoughts of revenge, once dismissed, now clawed their way back into his consciousness.

Maybe Circe was right. Maybe this was his chance to even the score, to make them pay for the destruction they had caused.

He had a chance to get back at them and show them exactly how it feels to be hurt. And he’d be a foolish man to miss out on such an opportunity.

Wiping away his tears and tossing his sense of good-guy out the window, Noel struggled to his feet, his body feeling heavy and unresponsive, as if the weight of the world rested upon his shoulders.

Clenching his fists, he felt an unfamiliar resolve surging through his veins. This would be his turning point, the moment he chose to reclaim his own power and forge a new path.

As he emerged from the shadows, the hood of his jacket still concealing his face, he took one last, haunting glance at the house that was once his sanctuary. It now stood as a symbol of broken promises and shattered dreams. The walls seemed to mock him, their silence echoing the pain he carried within.

Noel turned away, striding away down the street with a new found purpose. The black hood that once offered solace now felt like a shroud that masked his pain from the world. He had made a choice—he was going to allow Celine and Mark get a taste of their own wickedness, even if it meant leaving everything he had ever known behind.

With each step, Noel pushed against the weight dragging him down, forcing himself to look forward instead of dwelling on the heartache that lingered behind. He couldn’t change the past and his wife misdeeds, but he could shape the future into whatever pleased him.

As he walked, the world around him seemed to blur, as though the street before him and the houses that lined it were mere illusions. He realized that the true journey wasn’t a physical one, but a journey within himself. And he was determined to find the strength to rise above the betrayal and get revenge he deserved.

No matter what.

The sun had began to set when Circe started to lose all hope that Noel would return. She was just about to give up when she heard the sound of a knock on her door.

Jumping to her feet quickly, she raced towards the door and pulled it open to find Noel standing there. The moment his eyes met hers, she could tell that something inside of him had snapped…changed.

“Your offer for revenge you mentioned last time,” Noel began with his voice full of determination. He took a step forward and stood dangerously close to Circe, surprising her. “I accept I, so, when can we start?”
