His Life Changing Decision.

Circe stared at Noel for a few seconds before the corner of her lips twitched and a smile appeared on her lips. She had though he was a gonner, that he had run off, but yet, here he was back at her doorsteps and even chosing to follow the path of revenge she had set out for him.

What an interesting way to start her morning!

"I see, you slept on my offer." She mused after a few seconds of silence had passed between the two and then stepped aside, pointing her hand towards the inside of her house.

Noel understood her gesture and did not hesitate as he stepped in. His life had already been ruined, what else could go wrong in trusting a stranger.

Stepping into her house, he sank down into the nearest chair and peeled off the hoodie from his head, exposing his face completely. Circe took her seat in the chair opposite Noel and studied him for a few seconds before she spoke.

"Did you go back to beg?" She asked.

Noel did not respond immediately as he felt a wave of shame wash over him. She had hit the nail right on the head.

How stupid had he been to believe that he could fix everything just by begging and apologizing.

He truly was pathetic just like Celine had said.

Watching him remain silent, Circe hummed in understanding while nodding her head. "You must feel really humiliated."

"You don't say?" He responded sarcastically his gaze dropping to the floor.

"I see things didn't turn out the way you wanted. Seems like you truly have nothing to lose now, so, let's do it." She suddenly said, her tone was cold and distant as she adjusted to the edge of her seat. "If you really want to take revenge, the first thing you need to do is divorce your wife before she can, you." She said.

Noel lowered his gaze and thought it through.

"I get it," she said, leaning back into her chair and folding her legs. "You don't have any money, do you?"

"No," Noel responded with a sigh, knowing that his situation was truly bad.

"Don't worry, you can always use this." She said and placed a credit card on the table.

Noel examined the card. It was a black credit card. This made his eyes widen.

Holy shit!

He looked up from the card on the table towards Celine who simply smiled.

Just who was she?!

"I'll lend you this for the time being. Use as much as you need to hire the best lawyer and divorce your wife."

"What...why...why would you do this?" Noel stammered in surprise. He still couldn't understand why a mere stranger was treating him this way.

At his question, Celine's face softened, a smile adorning her lips as she stared at Noel. "Well," she paused and thought for a few seconds before adding. "Let's just say I know how it feels to watch those who you once trusted betray you and have no one in the world to help. I'm not asking that you trust me immediately, but please do know, that I'm always going to be on your side."

Circe ended her statement by flashing him an assuring smile. For the first time since learning of his wife and brother's affair, Noel felt his body relax.

He knew he shouldn't just believe whatever she says right off the batt, but it couldn't be helped. The sincerity in her eyes and words made it hard to do otherwise.

Sighing, he ran his hand through his hair and closed his eyes in deep thought.

Why has his life become so complicated?

How had everything he worked so hard to build, spiraled down into nothing?!

Was he really that much of a failure in life?

Thinking that, Celine's words replayed in his head and he squeezed his eyes shut tighter, wanting nothing more than silence in his mind.

Sadly that never came as the words of Celine and Mark continued to haunt his mind and after a while, he peeled his eyes open and stared at the black card in front of him.

He knew what he needed to do to silence all these voices. He knew what he needed to do to get the pain off his chest.

"Made your choice yet?" Celine asked with a tilt of her head.

"Yes, yes I have." Noel answered.

A few days later, Celine stepped out of her car, arms laden with shopping bags, feeling the residual excitement from a successful shopping spree.

She hummed to a happy tune while daydreaming about her now happy future with Mark. Thinking of how he would spoil and pamper her just like this in the future made butterflies swirl with excitement within the pit of her stomach.

And to think that she had almost settled for a broke and useless bum like Noel!

Celine reprimanded herself harshly. She had nearly ruined her life and spoiled her chance at living a comfortable life.

Thankfully that was all water under the bridge now. She had made the right decision. She was carrying Mark’s child and was about to start a family with him, her life of poverty was no more!

Chuckling to herself, Celine continued her way towards her door, however stopping abruptly at the sight of a stranger barring her way.

A tall man with graying hair stood before her, clad in a tailored suit. His serious expression did nothing to hide a glimmer of professionalism in his eyes.

“Who are you?” She asked, eyeing his fancy suit from head to toe and wondering if he might be one of Mark’s men.

The Intruder spoke, his voice measured and professional as he introduced himself. “My name is Pablo Campbell. I’m the attorney handling Mr. Noel Barrette divorce case."

Celine’s eyes widened. She scanned the man from head to toe once more, unbelieving that Noel could actually hire such an expensive looking lawyer.

Wasn’t he broke?

“You must be Celine Hangreve, I presume?” the man began, holding out a stack of papers. “I am here to provide you with the divorce documents.”

Celine’s eyes widened more in shock, her fingers tightening around the shopping bags. She had anticipated Noel’s return, perhaps a plea for reconciliation, but receiving divorce papers blindsided her. Emotions battled within her, confusion intermingled with a mixture of anger.

Beneath her breath, Celine muttered a string of insults, damning Noel for his cowardice and truly useless nature.

He had sent a sham of a lawyer clad on fake branded attire instead of coming to face her himself.

‘Tch, truly useless!’ Celine thought as she snatched the papers from Pablo’s hands, her hands trembling as she flipped through them. Each page cemented the finality of their crumbling marriage, depicting a union marred by broken promises and unfulfilled dreams.

After a few minutes of reading through the documents , Celine picked out a pen From her purse and scrawled her signature on the dotted line, the ink sealing the fate of their shattered marriage.

She showed no remorse nor regret, but rather joy, as she handed the documents back to Pablo.

To her, this was liberation like no other. If anything, she’d even have to thank Noel for agreeing to the divorce with ease.

‘Now she could live her life the way she wanted it.’ The thought alone brought a bug grin to her lips.

The lawyer, observing her strong-willed determination, nodded approvingly. “Thank you, Mrs. Hangreve. The court date is set for the fifteenth of next month. I will see you there.”

Celine met his gaze with a burning fire in her eyes, her voice tinged with a mix of overwhelmed joy and relief as she announced. “I’ll be there, ready to begin the next chapter of my life.”
