Ethan blinked away the blurriness, his ears ringing with the echoes of the strange place he'd just been in. As his eyes adjusted to the harsh fluorescent lights of the hospital room, he saw a nurse leaning over him, checking his vitals.

'His vitals are becoming stable, Doctor,' the nurse said, glancing over at a man in a white coat standing nearby.

Ethan's mind was still racing with questions, but before he could ask any of them, the doctor approached his bedside.

The doctor smiled, his gaze assessing but reassuring.

'Good to see you awake, Ethan. You’ve had quite a scare. Do you remember what happened?'

Ethan shook his head, his thoughts still reeling.

'I…I’m not sure. One minute I was at home, and then I woke up here.'

The doctor nodded. 'You suffered a cardiac event, most likely caused by stress. But the good news is, you’re going to be okay.’

Ethan sat up in the bed, wincing slightly at the tug of the IV in his arm. 'How long have I been here?'
