Chapter 15
Ethan sighed. "Thanks for the offer, Alex, but I can’t ask you to erase those posts. My grandfather already knows about it. Besides, this is my mess. I’ll deal with it on my own." Alex’s brow furrowed. “You sure? It could help to get the heat off you.’ Ethan’s jaw tightened. “No, I’m not sure. But this is what I have to do.’ Ethan took a deep breath. ‘What I do need you to do is dig into the Davis family. Lucas Davis, specifically. See what you can find. The more I know, the better prepared I’ll be when I buy the school after graduation.’ Alex’s eyes widened. “Buy the school? Damn, you really have it all planned out, don’t you?” Ethan smirked. “Just call me a long-term thinker.” ‘We’ll talk tomorrow,’ Ethan said. Ethan hung up the phone, his mind still buzzing with plans for the future. As he pondered his next move, a knock sounded at the door. His maid stood outside, holding a tray of food. 'Dinner, sir,' she said with a smile. Ethan took the tray and thanked her. He ate his dinner quickly, eager to get back to work. After cleaning up, he retreated to his study and buried himself in his schoolwork, barely noticing the hours fly by. As the night wore on, Ethan’s thoughts began to blur together. Finally, he realized the time. With a sigh, he stood from his desk and stretched, his muscles protesting from being in one position for so long. As the night wore on, Ethan’s thoughts began to blur together. Finally, he realized the time. With a sigh, he stood from his desk and stretched, his muscles protesting from being in one position for so long. He walked to his bathroom and turned on the shower, letting the hot water relax his tired body. After drying off and changing into his pajamas, he slid under the covers and closed his eyes, sleep claiming him within minutes Ethan blinked awake, disoriented by the foreign landscape that stretched out before him. Instead of the familiar walls of his bedroom, he found himself surrounded by swirling, multicolored clouds and towering, twisted trees. A sense of unease settled in his stomach as he sat up, taking in the strange scenery. Had he fallen asleep in his own bed, only to wake up in another realm? Or was this some sort of vivid dream? Ethan’s voice echoed in the strange landscape as he called out for help. 'Hello? Is anyone there?' The only reply was the sound of his own voice bouncing back to him. He stood and turned in a slow circle, taking in the shifting, surreal landscape. It seemed to stretch out forever in all directions, with no end in sight. 'Okay, Ethan,' he murmured to himself. 'Stay calm. There’s gotta be a way out of here. The thought of reincarnation struck Ethan like a lightning bolt. Was that what had happened? Had he died in his sleep and been reborn in this new world? Ethan stood in the center of the swirling, surreal landscape, feeling more and more disoriented by the minute. Was this some kind of dream? Or had he somehow been transported to another world? As he pondered the possibilities, a strange thought entered his mind: reincarnation. Could it be that he had somehow been reborn into this world after dying in his sleep? It seemed far-fetched, but the more he thought about it, the more it began to make a bizarre kind of sense. His was mind racing with questions and confusion. Where was he? How had he gotten here? And more importantly, was he dead? Before he could even make sense of his surroundings, he heard a voice call out his name 'Ethan.' Ethan continued to search for the source of the voice, he caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye. A figure, standing in the shadows of one of the twisted trees. He turned to face the figure, his jaw dropping in shock. The person before him was identical to him, down to the last detail. It was like staring into a mirror, but he knew this couldn’t be a reflection. 'Who are you?' he asked, his voice hoarse. Ethan took a step back, his heart racing with fear and uncertainty. 'Who are you?' he demanded again. The figure smiled. 'I am you, Ethan.' Ethan's eyes widened. 'What do you mean, you're me? How can that be?' The figure laughed, the sound echoing through the strange, swirling clouds. 'You're in a place between life and death, Ethan. A place where you can make a choice that will shape the rest of your existence. Ethan stared at the figure in disbelief, his mind struggling to make sense of the situation. 'What choice?' he demanded. 'You have to save the Waynes family and take over the company, you have to prove yourself worthy so your grandfather will sign the company to you Ethan’ ‘I'm already working on that,I'll be graduating from college in a few weeks”Ethan replied ‘Although I feel like I’m alone in this.’ The figure smiled. 'You're not as alone as you think, Ethan. You have allies, both known and unknown, who will help you on your path. But you must tread carefully, for the road to success is littered with enemies.' Ethan's jaw clenched. 'I can handle enemies.' The figure nodded. 'Your uncle, Noah Wayne , is a cunning man. He will stop at nothing to gain control of Wayne Enterprises, and he will try to use you as a pawn in his game. But you have the potential to outmaneuver him, to become the true heir of the company.' Ethan smirked. 'And what about the Thompsons? They won't just hand the company over to me.' 'That is true,' the figure said, their voice grave. 'The Thompsons will fight tooth and nail to hold onto their power. Your Job is to win this war Ethan and save the family name’ Ethan nodded, his jaw set with determination. 'Then I will. I will win this war and protect my family name. The Waynes have ruled this city for generations, and I won't be the one to let it all crumble.' The figure’s smile grew. 'That is the spirit of a true Wayne. But remember, Ethan, this will not be an easy task. You will need to be smart, resourceful, and most importantly, you will need allies.' Just as Ethan was about to ask the figure for more guidance, a sudden surge of electricity tore through his body. He cried out as the shockwaves coursed through his veins, feeling like thousands of volts of power coursing through him at once. The screams echoed in his mind as the vision of the strange, surreal realm faded away. When he finally opened his eyes, he was staring up at a hospital ceiling, his body covered in wires and tubes.Chapter 16Ethan blinked away the blurriness, his ears ringing with the echoes of the strange place he'd just been in. As his eyes adjusted to the harsh fluorescent lights of the hospital room, he saw a nurse leaning over him, checking his vitals.'His vitals are becoming stable, Doctor,' the nurse said, glancing over at a man in a white coat standing nearby.Ethan's mind was still racing with questions, but before he could ask any of them, the doctor approached his bedside. The doctor smiled, his gaze assessing but reassuring. 'Good to see you awake, Ethan. You’ve had quite a scare. Do you remember what happened?'Ethan shook his head, his thoughts still reeling. 'I…I’m not sure. One minute I was at home, and then I woke up here.'The doctor nodded. 'You suffered a cardiac event, most likely caused by stress. But the good news is, you’re going to be okay.’Ethan sat up in the bed, wincing slightly at the tug of the IV in his arm. 'How long have I been here?'The doctor consulted a
