From Her Perspective

[Emily’s POV]

‘I can’t believe this, after all my hard work, after all the effort I put in,’ tears poured down from my eyes as I thought about my situation.

‘I’m sure he bribed the officials of the school or something like that, how could a person possibly manage to get perfect scores, that’s impossible.’

The thoughts refused to leave my head, and I wouldn’t let them leave either way.

I was pissed off and angry, I couldn’t imagine a world where I didn’t come out in the first place.

I wasn’t a rich kid like any of the other students here at Columbia university, my family was poor, and so they couldn’t even afford to send me here in the first place.

I earned my right to be here, and after struggling and studying for years, I finally got in with a scholarship.

‘It should’ve been me on that podium being handed that award, I deserve it way more than he does’ I thought to myself.
