Chapter 5

Jack gulped at the very familiar voice in his ear. 'What is she looking for me for?' his mind began to worry.

Claire, who had just entered the kitchen, immediately tapped Jack on the shoulder. “Why does your fiancé call you that? She sounded really angry. Did you guys fight?”

Jack shook his head. “I-I will meet her.” He walked quickly forward. 'Isn't it enough to swear at me in front of the guests last night, that you still have to continue cursing in front of my customers.' He tried hard to contain his anger.

Seeing Sophie standing between the customer's tables, something ached in a corner of his heart. Then, the image of Sophie's betrayal flashed through his head. However, Jack tried desperately to smile.

"Anyone can-"

SLAP!

The diners widened when they saw Jack slapped by Sophie. Without exception, Claire covered her mouth with both hands.

It didn't stop there, Sophie also grabbed a glass of juice from the customer's table to splash Jack's face.

“Bastard you huh! How dare you beat up my boyfriend. You rascal!”

'Last night her new boyfriend poured wine on me. And now, she's throwing juice at me?'

Jack smiled bitterly. He slowly opened his eyes and wiped his face with shaking hands. The man's jaw tightened from the pain that gripped his throat.

"If you didn't accept my decision last night, there's no need to be violent towards David. Your hands are really dirty. Is that how poor people solve problems?”

"Stop!" Claire walked over. “Shopie, you really are out of your mind. Why are you humiliating your own fiancé? If you-"

"Do not interfere. You know, this loser has put my boyfriend in the hospital. He already beat up my boyfriend and his friends.”

"What? Boyfriend?"

“O, so this loser didn't say anything to you? All right, I'll explain. Look, last night I dumped him in front of everyone."

"B-but, didn't you guys get engaged last night?" Claire tried hard not to faint.

“Tch! Tell me is there any woman would be willing to be engaged to this loser? Why should I destroy my future and depend on a pizza delivery man?"

Claire looked at Jack while covering her mouth with both hands.

“I thought you still have some goodness in your life, but as it turns out, your attitude is much more detestable than your appearance.”

“Sophie, I swear I didn't do anything to David and his friends. They did block me earlier, but I didn't hit or even touch them at all."

Sophie clapped. "Of course! I know you will dodge. You even accused my boyfriend and his friends. Look, you're still alive because David insisted on not going to the police. My boyfriend is indeed an angel. If it was someone else, it would definitely not spare you.”

Jack looked away for a moment to smile bitterly. “Shopie, I-”

“Don't say my name with your dirty mouth. I really disgust you. I regret ever being your girlfriend." Sophie pointed her finger. “Just so you know, I have the footage of last night's incident. At first I thought to keep it as a private collection. But what you did this morning, made me change my mind.”

Sophie shifted her gaze towards Claire. “You want to know what happened to your friend last night, right? Don't worry, you can see it on my social media accounts. I just uploaded it before coming here.”

The woman smiled wryly at Jack. "Once again you disturb my boyfriend, I will make sure to beat you with my own hands."

Sophie gave vent to her anger again by pushing tables and kicking the chairs before walking away from King Pizza.

Now all the visitors stared at Jack with a sneer. They whispered about the man. Some dissatisfied diners even leave the shop. Some scolded him before leaving.

“The food in this tavern is delicious, but you make my appetite disappear. I regret visiting this place.”

"I'm sorry, madam."

“This is the worst experience I've had at King Pizza. I didn't expect a friendly and polite person like you to be a delinquent.”

"I'm sorry, sir."

Sophie made Jack bow low to them all. Then, Jack cleans up the mess his ex made while holding back his embarrassment.

A male waiter seemed to approach Jack who was wiping up the leftover juice that had fallen on the floor. "Jack, you're in trouble."

"What?"

"Mr. James asked you to come to his room now." The maid returned to the kitchen after delivering a message from her boss.

Jack took a deep breath, then walked into James' room. Arriving at the front of the room, he stood staring at the nameplate stuck to the door.

'Soon this board will be removed and replaced with someone else's nameplate,' he thought before knocking on the door.

"Come in!"

Jack followed orders from inside the room. He entered and closed the door that had just been opened. He saw the face of his boss who already wanted to swallow him alive.

“Who allowed you to sit?!” James snapped as Jack pulled the chair across from him.

Jack shoved the chair back under the table. He stood with a lazy face. "Why did you call me, Sir?"

“You really ask? It's obvious you're making a fuss here. Look! I'm watching you." James shows the CCTV view on his laptop. “You really are useless. It was late this morning and just made a mess.”

"Wait a moment, sir. First, it wasn't me who started it. Please play back the tape, not once did I scream or curse. All the commotion was done by visitors to the tavern. She came screaming, swearing at me, took another visitor's drink to throw it in my face, and lastly, she also made a mess of the table chairs."

BAM!

“Come closer so I can make a mess of your face! You're either deaf or dumb to understand what I said this morning. Don't argue with me or-"

Jack raised his hand "Mr. James, I'm very busy."

"What?!"

Jack who was still standing immediately explained in a firm tone, “I have to get ready to deliver the order. About the incident earlier, I'm sorry. You can cut my salary 50% or all, I don't care. What's clear, I don't have time to hear your scolding anymore.” He clasped his hands in front of his face.

Ignoring James who was gawking at his attitude, Jack turned to leave the room. James screamed for him to come back, but Jack didn't care.

'I'll take care of James Bing after teaching David a lesson. Sophie's new boyfriend must pay the price for everything.'

Jack took his cell phone out of his trouser pocket. He cleared his throat before making the call.

“Hello, right now I want David Guillon to be removed from the post of finance manager. Transfer him to correspondence.” He paused to hear the response of the person on the other end of the phone. Then Jack confirmed. “Not a chief, just an ordinary staff. From now on he will take care of the correspondence at Big Roodgrup."
