Chapter 6

Jack had packed some of the customer's pizza into a large box. Claire came over just as she was about to bring the box forward.

“Did Mr. James cut your salary again? Does he scold you like Sophie? I'm sorry I can't do anything. I'm sorry, but I want to slap Sophie more than anyone."

Jack smiled. He brought his mouth close to Claire's ear. "You have to do it for me."

"Of course! Thank goodness you broke with her. If not, she will make things difficult for you. She won't eat pizza every day. She also won't want to live in your boarding house or sit on the back of your old bicycle."

“Are you taunting or amusing me?”

"I want to comfort you, but you deserve more to be ridiculed."

"Shit ha ha! All right, I have to go now before Mr. James comes out and scolds me again."

Jack carried the pizza box from the kitchen to the parking lot. The man hooked the rope of the box to his reed bicycle.

"Ready. Customers will smile to see their orders coming.”

Jack was about to take his jacket to cover his wet and juice-stained uniform, but there was none. Usually he put it on the bicycle handlebars. “I must have forgotten to bring it in my rush. I'll buy it on the way.”

Jack pedaled his bicycle. Moments later, he stopped in front of the most popular clothing store in the city of Rhineland. The two-floor store is known for providing a variety of branded clothing at exorbitant prices. Many socialites and people from high society bought their clothes there.

Actually, Jack was reluctant to buy a jacket at the store. However, he remembered that the order list this morning was around the elite SweetRood City housing. So, even though there are other clothing stores on Roodenburg Highway, the benchmark prices are not much different.

'Everything in this business area that I own is very expensive compared to what is sold elsewhere,' he thought as he got off his bicycle.

Jack walked towards the entrance, but a security guard stopped him.

“Employees are not allowed to eat during working hours. You can come back during recess.”

"Sorry, but I'm not here to deliver pizza, I wanted to buy a jacket."

The security guard laughed. "Are you kidding me? The price of a jacket here is even more expensive than a dozen clothes you usually wear. So, don't dream of being able to buy it. I already know it very well. Poor people come just to have a look and not to buy. Yes, because they don't have money. Now go before I act violently.” The security guard pushed Jack's shoulder aside.

At that moment, a waitress came out of the shop. In a high pitched voice she asked, “What is going on out there?” Apparently she had noticed the security guard being mean to Jack earlier.

“This pizza delivery man is forcing his way in. He said he wanted to buy a jacket. But look at him. How ridiculuous."

"What's so ridiculous? It's a clothing store and he came to buy a jacket. It will be ridiculous if he comes here to buy pizza. Jack, come on in. This security guard does sometimes...” The waitress traced her index finger across her forehead.

Ignoring the security guard's nose, which was twitching and twitching, the waitress immediately pulled Jack inside. She regaled Jack with a funny story about the security guard.

"Once again I apologize for the unpleasant treatment earlier. I hope you won't block all the employees in this shop when we want to eat a slice of pizza at King Pizza.”

Jack nodded. “Only because of you, I will consider it.” He made the waitress laugh. “You should at least help me get a jacket that fits. You know, I have a huge list of customers in my pocket who will grumble if I'm late with a pizza delivery.”

"All right, over here boss."

The blue-eyed woman accompanied Jack to choose a jacket. She pointed out some of the best jackets in the store without asking whether Jack would buy one or not. Not long ago, Jack also set a choice on a gray jacket with a matching colored head cover.

"That's a good choice."

“Audrey, could you choose another jacket? But, this time it's for women.”

"Of course! Is that for your girlfriend?”

Jack shook his head. "Who wants to be a pizza delivery boy's girlfriend?" He smiled bitterly.

Audrey's face immediately changed. She remembered stories on social media about Jack being dumped by his girlfriend so viciously. "Oh, I'm sorry for that."

"Come on, it's not your fault. Now choose a women's jacket for me.” He looked at Audrey. “This is for a special woman. It's winter soon, I want to get a jacket for her to keep warm.”

"Very sweet. Come on, I'll show you over here."

Both of them moved to a row of jackets specifically for women. There were a variety of styles and colors, but Audrey settled on a simple but elegant yellow knit jacket. "Here it is." She pointed at the jacket beside her. “This is the coolest model. Limited sale. There may only be two or three of them in the whole world. And it just so happened that this was left.”

Jack stared at the jacket. He smiled without comment.

"It's the perfect color in the white snow," added Audrey. However, seeing Jack's usual expression, Audrey hurriedly said, “But, if you don't like it, there are other models with more color choices. Yellow is just too flashy.”

"No, it's perfect. I want to buy this.”

"What? Buy it?”

A woman's firm voice made Jack and Audrey turn their heads. Turns out, it was the store manager. She stood with her arms folded in front. The lines on her forehead accentuated the unfriendly look on her face.

“Audrey, have you gone mad?”

“Excuse me, madam?”

“Why did you bring this tramp in? And you, uh! Geez!" She snatched the jacket from Jack's hand. "This is the best jacket hanging in the window!" She immediately glared at Audrey. “You unlocked the display case for this beggar?! God, I'm going to faint.” The woman holds her head. "Get me a chair."

The waitress immediately took a chair for her. In a state of shock, she still continued her tirade.

"Luckily the security guard told me. Otherwise, I can't imagine anything bad would happen. Audrey, listen, you are my favorite employee because you have worked so hard and well. All customers like your service. But this time, you made a big mistake by letting this trash in. You know Audrey, all the goods in this shop are of very high quality and expensive, especially those that are stored in a window or attached to a mannequin. You're dropping the value of this jacket by letting this trash touch it."

The manager's words made Audrey reflexively cover her mouth with both hands. She then shifted her gaze to see Jack's expression.

Jack still looked calm. He didn't even seem to care about the manager's insults. "I'll buy the jacket."

"WHAT?!" The manager laughed while holding his stomach. “I don't know if this beggar turns out to be a clown. Very funny!" Her face suddenly turned very cold. “But this is not a stage show. Get out of here before I ask the security guard to drag you out.”

Jack hissed, remembering that Sophie had said that line too. His jaw instantly stiffened. Without saying anything else, Jack immediately turned around and took the yellow jacket that was still attached to the mannequin.

Of course the manager immediately shouted at him, but Jack suddenly went deaf. Not only that, he also snatched the jacket from the manager's hand. Jack hastily brought the two jackets forward.

"Thief! Stop you thief!” The manager ran after Jack who was walking very fast.

The incident immediately caught everyone's attention. The visitors ignored their desired attire and walked closer to the source of the commotion.

The security guard who received the report from one of the waitress immediately went into the shop to lock it from the inside. He smiled slyly at the thought of beating Jack black and blue, then dragging him to the prison car for trying to commit a crime.

'You won't be able to escape from here!'

However, unexpectedly, Jack actually stopped in front of the counter. He placed the two jackets in his hands on the table. "Count all."

"No!" The manager's screams came again. With a ragged breath she berated Jack again. "You crazy! You can be poor and stupid, but don't bother me. How dare you make a scene in my shop. See what I'll do to you." She took out her cell phone.

BAMS!

Jack banged the table to stop the manager who he assumed was going to call the police. His action was immediately rewarded with a loud curse from the store manager.

"God damn it! Damn you-”

It wasn't until the woman continued her insults that her jaw immediately dropped to the floor as she saw Jack handing the cashier a black card. 'Th-that card.... How come?'

"Count the two of them." Jack repeated his order.

The cashier nodded politely and accepted the card with trembling hands. Meanwhile, the manager immediately approached Jack to bow low to that 'lowly' person.

"G-gentlemen, why didn't you say you have a black card?" The woman's tone and demeanor became completely different. She kept smiling and praying that Jack wouldn't take offense at what she'd done.

'Wh-who is this guy exactly?'

Jack shot the shop manager a glare. Then, he slightly lowered his gaze.

“Nathalie. Such as a good name."

The store manager pushed a strand of hair on her face behind her ear. Her cheeks flushed. "Thank you, sir. I didn't realize it until you said it. But one thing, the content is much better.” Shamelessly she puffed out her chest while rolling her eyes.

Jack smiled faintly. He took cell his phone from his pocket.

"Hello, right now I want Nathalie, the manager at First Style store, to be removed from her position."
