Jack had packed some of the customer's pizza into a large box. Claire came over just as she was about to bring the box forward.
“Did Mr. James cut your salary again? Does he scold you like Sophie? I'm sorry I can't do anything. I'm sorry, but I want to slap Sophie more than anyone."
Jack smiled. He brought his mouth close to Claire's ear. "You have to do it for me."
"Of course! Thank goodness you broke with her. If not, she will make things difficult for you. She won't eat pizza every day. She also won't want to live in your boarding house or sit on the back of your old bicycle."
“Are you taunting or amusing me?”
"I want to comfort you, but you deserve more to be ridiculed."
"Shit ha ha! All right, I have to go now before Mr. James comes out and scolds me again."
Jack carried the pizza box from the kitchen to the parking lot. The man hooked the rope of the box to his reed bicycle.
"Ready. Customers will smile to see their orders coming.”
Jack was about to take his jacket to cover his wet and juice-stained uniform, but there was none. Usually he put it on the bicycle handlebars. “I must have forgotten to bring it in my rush. I'll buy it on the way.”
Jack pedaled his bicycle. Moments later, he stopped in front of the most popular clothing store in the city of Rhineland. The two-floor store is known for providing a variety of branded clothing at exorbitant prices. Many socialites and people from high society bought their clothes there.
Actually, Jack was reluctant to buy a jacket at the store. However, he remembered that the order list this morning was around the elite SweetRood City housing. So, even though there are other clothing stores on Roodenburg Highway, the benchmark prices are not much different.
'Everything in this business area that I own is very expensive compared to what is sold elsewhere,' he thought as he got off his bicycle.
Jack walked towards the entrance, but a security guard stopped him.
“Employees are not allowed to eat during working hours. You can come back during recess.”
"Sorry, but I'm not here to deliver pizza, I wanted to buy a jacket."
The security guard laughed. "Are you kidding me? The price of a jacket here is even more expensive than a dozen clothes you usually wear. So, don't dream of being able to buy it. I already know it very well. Poor people come just to have a look and not to buy. Yes, because they don't have money. Now go before I act violently.” The security guard pushed Jack's shoulder aside.
At that moment, a waitress came out of the shop. In a high pitched voice she asked, “What is going on out there?” Apparently she had noticed the security guard being mean to Jack earlier.
“This pizza delivery man is forcing his way in. He said he wanted to buy a jacket. But look at him. How ridiculuous."
"What's so ridiculous? It's a clothing store and he came to buy a jacket. It will be ridiculous if he comes here to buy pizza. Jack, come on in. This security guard does sometimes...” The waitress traced her index finger across her forehead.
Ignoring the security guard's nose, which was twitching and twitching, the waitress immediately pulled Jack inside. She regaled Jack with a funny story about the security guard.
"Once again I apologize for the unpleasant treatment earlier. I hope you won't block all the employees in this shop when we want to eat a slice of pizza at King Pizza.”
Jack nodded. “Only because of you, I will consider it.” He made the waitress laugh. “You should at least help me get a jacket that fits. You know, I have a huge list of customers in my pocket who will grumble if I'm late with a pizza delivery.”
"All right, over here boss."
The blue-eyed woman accompanied Jack to choose a jacket. She pointed out some of the best jackets in the store without asking whether Jack would buy one or not. Not long ago, Jack also set a choice on a gray jacket with a matching colored head cover.
"That's a good choice."
“Audrey, could you choose another jacket? But, this time it's for women.”
"Of course! Is that for your girlfriend?”
Jack shook his head. "Who wants to be a pizza delivery boy's girlfriend?" He smiled bitterly.
Audrey's face immediately changed. She remembered stories on social media about Jack being dumped by his girlfriend so viciously. "Oh, I'm sorry for that."
"Come on, it's not your fault. Now choose a women's jacket for me.” He looked at Audrey. “This is for a special woman. It's winter soon, I want to get a jacket for her to keep warm.”
"Very sweet. Come on, I'll show you over here."
Both of them moved to a row of jackets specifically for women. There were a variety of styles and colors, but Audrey settled on a simple but elegant yellow knit jacket. "Here it is." She pointed at the jacket beside her. “This is the coolest model. Limited sale. There may only be two or three of them in the whole world. And it just so happened that this was left.”
Jack stared at the jacket. He smiled without comment.
"It's the perfect color in the white snow," added Audrey. However, seeing Jack's usual expression, Audrey hurriedly said, “But, if you don't like it, there are other models with more color choices. Yellow is just too flashy.”
"No, it's perfect. I want to buy this.”
"What? Buy it?”
A woman's firm voice made Jack and Audrey turn their heads. Turns out, it was the store manager. She stood with her arms folded in front. The lines on her forehead accentuated the unfriendly look on her face.
“Audrey, have you gone mad?”
“Excuse me, madam?”
“Why did you bring this tramp in? And you, uh! Geez!" She snatched the jacket from Jack's hand. "This is the best jacket hanging in the window!" She immediately glared at Audrey. “You unlocked the display case for this beggar?! God, I'm going to faint.” The woman holds her head. "Get me a chair."
The waitress immediately took a chair for her. In a state of shock, she still continued her tirade.
"Luckily the security guard told me. Otherwise, I can't imagine anything bad would happen. Audrey, listen, you are my favorite employee because you have worked so hard and well. All customers like your service. But this time, you made a big mistake by letting this trash in. You know Audrey, all the goods in this shop are of very high quality and expensive, especially those that are stored in a window or attached to a mannequin. You're dropping the value of this jacket by letting this trash touch it."
The manager's words made Audrey reflexively cover her mouth with both hands. She then shifted her gaze to see Jack's expression.
Jack still looked calm. He didn't even seem to care about the manager's insults. "I'll buy the jacket."
"WHAT?!" The manager laughed while holding his stomach. “I don't know if this beggar turns out to be a clown. Very funny!" Her face suddenly turned very cold. “But this is not a stage show. Get out of here before I ask the security guard to drag you out.”
Jack hissed, remembering that Sophie had said that line too. His jaw instantly stiffened. Without saying anything else, Jack immediately turned around and took the yellow jacket that was still attached to the mannequin.
Of course the manager immediately shouted at him, but Jack suddenly went deaf. Not only that, he also snatched the jacket from the manager's hand. Jack hastily brought the two jackets forward.
"Thief! Stop you thief!” The manager ran after Jack who was walking very fast.
The incident immediately caught everyone's attention. The visitors ignored their desired attire and walked closer to the source of the commotion.
The security guard who received the report from one of the waitress immediately went into the shop to lock it from the inside. He smiled slyly at the thought of beating Jack black and blue, then dragging him to the prison car for trying to commit a crime.
'You won't be able to escape from here!'
However, unexpectedly, Jack actually stopped in front of the counter. He placed the two jackets in his hands on the table. "Count all."
"No!" The manager's screams came again. With a ragged breath she berated Jack again. "You crazy! You can be poor and stupid, but don't bother me. How dare you make a scene in my shop. See what I'll do to you." She took out her cell phone.
BAMS!
Jack banged the table to stop the manager who he assumed was going to call the police. His action was immediately rewarded with a loud curse from the store manager.
"God damn it! Damn you-”
It wasn't until the woman continued her insults that her jaw immediately dropped to the floor as she saw Jack handing the cashier a black card. 'Th-that card.... How come?'
"Count the two of them." Jack repeated his order.
The cashier nodded politely and accepted the card with trembling hands. Meanwhile, the manager immediately approached Jack to bow low to that 'lowly' person.
"G-gentlemen, why didn't you say you have a black card?" The woman's tone and demeanor became completely different. She kept smiling and praying that Jack wouldn't take offense at what she'd done.
'Wh-who is this guy exactly?'
Jack shot the shop manager a glare. Then, he slightly lowered his gaze.
“Nathalie. Such as a good name."
The store manager pushed a strand of hair on her face behind her ear. Her cheeks flushed. "Thank you, sir. I didn't realize it until you said it. But one thing, the content is much better.” Shamelessly she puffed out her chest while rolling her eyes.
Jack smiled faintly. He took cell his phone from his pocket.
"Hello, right now I want Nathalie, the manager at First Style store, to be removed from her position."
Immediately, everyone started to get whispered one another. They are in unison wondering who exactly that man with dirty clothes, but has a black card, and now acts as if he is so powerful. Many of them then assumed that Jack is a conglomerate in disguise, but not a few visitors who think Jack is a thief. What rich person really bothers to be a pizza delivery man? "Hey! Don't be impudent!” snapped the security guard very loudly. He walked quickly over to Jack. Without further ado he cuffed Jack’s hands. "If I had known that this beggar was actually a thief, I would have beaten you a long time ago." The security guard had raised his clenched fists, ready to punch Jack. A breath escaped Jack's mouth. “You will regret doing this to me.” "Not me but you. How dare you threaten Mrs. Nathalie. Now tell me, who owns the black card?! Or this stick will crack your skull!” Nathalie, who had shaken her hands for fear of losing her job, began to think that the security guard's allegations were
As if hearing Nathalie's words, the shop owner replied, "Do you know who the person you think is the thief?" He made Nathalie shake her head in misgivings. “He is Young Master Roodenburg!” This time Nathalie seemed to have forgotten the pain in her cheek. Her hands moved to the front of her gaping mouth. Her eyes now radiated fear that made her body tremble. Meanwhile, the visitors who had gossiped about Jack earlier began to slowly back away. They unanimously swallowed hard with fear greater than the word fear itself. “How can you accuse Young Master of stealing? On what basis do you dare to have him handcuffed like that?!” “M-master, I-I really don't know. You're right, I'm an idiot, an idiot, an idiot. I deserved to be spanked.” Nathalie hit herself on the head. “Right, that's very true. Therefore, this very second you are fired from this shop!” “B-but.” Nathalie did not continue her words. She quickly approached Jack to apologize. Being fired from her current job was a big d
The car Jack and Matthew were traveling in, caught the attention of pedestrians and other motorists along SweetRoad City. Although that area was relatively elite, the exterior design of the Veneno Roadster Lamborghini was hard to ignore. The sight made Jack smile goofily. Throughout his career as a pizza delivery man, this was the first time people had paid so much attention to his arrival. Usually, let alone being seen, the residents of that area would turn their faces away from him. Even if they looked at him, it would only be to berate him."Over there!" Jack excitedly pointed to a luxurious house that became the first customer to receive pizza from him.Matthew nodded in understanding. In his heart, he wanted to ask how long Jack would be working as a pizza delivery boy. However, of course he didn't dare to say it because he didn't feel entitled to it.When Matthew parked the car in front of the house of Jack’s customer, one by one the residents rushed out."Are they here to greet
Monday night, Jack was seen standing in front of the mirror in his boarding house. Ross had just installed the mirror a few days ago along with the other furniture. Jack scratched his forehead, which wasn't itchy. Again and again he grunted in annoyance. Actually, the man was ready to leave for the BlueLux Hotel for the meeting. However, the shadow of that dark night couldn't leave his head. Especially after his gaze shifted to the white coat Ross had hung on the wall. A breath escaped his mouth as well. Even though the suit had been cleaned of blood and drink stains, it didn't erase anything in his mind. Jack smiled bitterly. He held his cheeks as he continued to stare at his reflection in the mirror. Smack! He closed his eyes remembering Sophie slapping him hard in front of the King Pizza patrons. "No, that abomination will never happen to me again. It's all in the past. Even if I meet Sophie later, it won't affect me at all. She's not my person anymore." Jack linked the butto
Sophie stopped in her tracks when she noticed a very familiar man getting into a scuffle with one of the guests. Her eyebrows knitted together as she watched the man. And, when the security guard was about to pull the man away, Sophie’s eyes immediately widened."Jack? What's that punk doing here?"Sophie walked quickly towards her ex. Her chest felt so full of anger that her blood seemed to almost boil. She remembered how Jack had hurt David. 'I warned him, but he came to make trouble!' Sophie clenched her hands itching to slap Jack. When she was one step behind Jack, her hand quickly pulled Jack's collar so hard that he staggered."Sophie," Jack hissed after turning around.SLAP!Sophie unceremoniously rewarded her ex with a hard slap, again!"Asshole! Why are you here?" Before the question was answered, Sophie already had her own answer. "Oh, I know, you must want to seek revenge, right? You came here to make a scene, didn't you? You brat!" Sophie grabbed Jack's shirt collar to sh
"He's the one we've been waiting for."Everyone's mouths gaped open enough to fit a goose egg in. Their minds were united in concluding one thing. However, everyone remained silent until Matthew actually said it."And he was late because Steve Shatner presumptuously told him to do something before. Are you tired of doing business on the Roodenburg Highway, Mr. SHATNER?"Obviously, all businessmen wanted the opportunity to do business in that area. It wasn't easy for Steve to get in there. "Is that mean…, h-he is Young Master from Roodenburg family?" Steve asked to reassure himself. From any angle, it seemed impossible that the guy who used to deliver pizza orders at his shop would suddenly become the successor of a conglomerate family."Absolutely!"Matthew's loud reply almost made Steve go limp. How could the man he was insulting be the one he wanted to meet the most?'That's the end of me!Too bad Steve didn't have time to pass out. He had to make amends for his fatal mistake befor
After her meeting with Jack last night, Sophie couldn't stop thinking about him. It definitely wasn't because she had feelings for Jack. Even when she was Jack's girlfriend, there wasn't the slightest bit of love from her for the pizza delivery boy.The annoying memory that couldn't leave Sophie's head was nothing but ingrained hatred. It was because of Jack that she was demoted from the position of hotel manager. If only Jack hadn't come and messed up last night, she would have gotten credit from Michael for the smooth running of the Roodenburg Highway business meeting. More than that, she would have had the opportunity to meet the grandson of the richest man in the country.'With my beauty, I can definitely impress Young Master Roodenburg. But that brat ruined everything! Not only did he make Mr. Michael send me home, he made me lose my promotion and my position!'Sophie clenched her fists under the table before letting out a long breath. She was pensive again. She was currently eat
"Are you deaf or something? I said it out loud, that start today you are a servant. If you object, you can write a letter of resignation. Of course I will immediately grant it WITHOUT severance pay!"James tried hard not to faint. His eyes were wide. He thought hard. 'There's no way I'm quitting King Pizza. Here I'm earning a lot of money from a job that's not hard at all. I can relax during working hours, I can scold the employees without retaliation, I can inflict any punishment on them. I can earn extra money very easily by deducting their salaries from the mistakes I make.'James swallowed hard. He was breathing hard even though he had been standing still."How about it James? Are you going to obey my orders or get out of here?"James turned to the employees. His jaw hardened as many of the employees seemed to be expecting him to quit King Pizza. 'I'm not just going to let them go!"Yes sir, I will." James bowed low.Steve laughed. "Good, good.""But sir, who's going to replace
