Ch 003

'Arghhh! I don't know until when it will be going like this. Geez!' Idris stared at the ground grumpily when someone pulled his hand.

Holding his hand, a blue eyed girl with brown hair looked so delighted. She smiled tearfully and said sincerely, "I'm so happy you are fine and breathing. Brother, let's play together."

"I don't want to." Idris voiced bluntly.

The 10 year old girl grabbed his hand and looked at him with puppy eyes, "Why not? Are you not feeling well?"

"I'm feeling much better but I don't feel like playing." He answered.

Shasha Beaufort, Idris's sister, was a pretty, kind-hearted and smart girl. She looked a little like Merle but a little like the Duke of Montana.

At first, Idris was happy to see her but since she started talking so much and jumping around him, nagging him to play with her he was getting pissed rather.

Shasha sat down on the bed quietly, her eyes filled with sadness, "Everyday, you say we should play together. We don't have any friends to play with since we are not allowed to go outside and you say that you don't want to die without enjoying life. What happened today?"

Upon hearing those words, Idris looked at her, she seemed sorrowful though.

"I'm sorry, Shasha. I am really a little tired, it's not that I don't want to play with you some other time. Uhmm, let's play tomorrow?" Idris tried cheering her up.

Shasha smiled brightly and nodded her head, "Sure."

In the past, he never had someone nagging him so much to play with him. Though Cathy played with him sometimes but due to her work load, she didn't get to play much time and Mathew was more focused on study so he missed living his childhood to the fullest.

As Shasha left, Idris laid on the bed heaving a sigh. Staring at the designing ceiling he shut his eyes and put his hand over his forehead.

"Lord Idris, I brought the maid."

After getting back to his room the first thing Idris wanted to do was to punish the maid who wanted him to die but without people knowing so they would still take him for a stupid.

"I see." So he had his servant Adam Adkins, the 20 years old handsome guard about 6' tall who saw Idris first when he opened his eyes in this world to look for the maid.

11 years old Idris didn't tell anyone the truth about him, rather he wanted everyone to think he was really 11 years old and not a 23 year old in the body of Idris..

Seated on the chair, Idris stared at the woman who was in a servant's clothes, she seemed rather fragile but not even slightly scared.

"Tell me, why did you try to kill me?" His voice came out as cold as ever.

Hearing him Adam was awestruck. "My lord, she tried to kill you?"

The maid remained silent, keeping her head down as she was trying to look for a way out.

"You lowly snail! How dare you try to assassinate him? How could you do this?" Adam burst out in anger.

Seeing the maid still silent, Idris added a little vociferously, "If you tell me the truth, I will let you off But if you don't… you can definitely prepare to go to hell." He slightly leaned down, looking at her with hostility.

'Skie, I need the details of this girl right now.'

He stared at Adam and Adam quickly understood the task. Adam touched the maid's chin forcibly and Idris stared right into her eyes. But before he could continue to question her, the information Skie provided him shocked him.

[Host, her name is Lana. She came from a poor family, her parents died two years ago. Since then she's working as a maid for you.]

Looking at the maid named Lana, he narrowed his eyebrows. 'How come she has a normal background and nothing suspicious?'

'Is that all?'

[Yes, Host.]

Idris heaved a sigh and questioned her in a cold tone of voice, "I will ask one more time, why did you try to kill me?"

"I don't understand what you are talking about, My Lord. I'm your humble maid, how can I hurt you…" As she asserted so, Idris tried reading her eyes but he couldn't do so.

"Do you know what can I do to you for lying? You still have time, tell me the truth."

Seeing her keeping tight lips, Idris gestured at Adam. "Take her to see mother, I'll leave it on her."

Lana couldn't exactly read what he was planning of doing but she felt a little scared. Merle has always been a kind woman with a gentle personality but if someone was to hurt her only son, they would see the rage of a mother.

Nearly the door, Lana suddenly cried out, "My Lord, you misunderstood me. That day, when you went missing I went to the local market on Lady Merle's command. I don't know whom you saw, but it was not me."

'You liar!'

"I can understand, at your age you can't probably distinguish between good and evil so you mixed me with someone else but… I'm telling this for your good, Lady Merle thinks highly of you even though you are not upto the mark so you know… "

'Is she threatening me with my age? Because I'm only eleven years old, she thinks she can defend herself?'

"Lady Merle will be disappointed if she finds out that you are lying for no reason." Lana kept a sad look on her face but the tone she used was saying otherwise.

"So you don't know anything right?"

With a smirk Lana nodded her head in a strong denial. Idris could see what she wanted in her eyes. Turning around, he ordered defeatedly, "Adam, let her go."

"But, My Lord… "

Pulling away Lana walked away saying, "Thank you, My Lord. You are intelligent."

"My Lord, she tried to assassinate you. And..."

Idris kept his fists clenched as he stood firm near the window. He could see that Lana was a very cunning woman but…

'Lana is not as easy as I thought, she dare threaten me. But I can't risk it, Skie also confirmed that mother indeed sent her out that day. So she will be able to use it as an excuse and save herself since I don't have any proof. I can only wait for a chance, I will collect enough evidence, and at the same time I need to find out who she is working for. It must not be someone simple but powerful… Who's the mastermind who wants to kill me when I'm not even a threat to anyone?'

ICE PALACE was truly scary, people were sent here only to get their punishment for a grave mistake they did. Everyone was scared of this place, though at the first view it scared Idris too but now, it didn't matter.

Adam really felt that something definitely changed since his lord came back. In the past, he was easily bullied and so weak, he was an 'easy-peasy' but now, he looked so different.

More than three days have passed in the blink of an eye, Idris tried but he couldn't leave the palace alone.

"Mother, there's something I wanna ask. Uhmm, is that ok?" Seated on the dining table, Idris asked.

"Sure, what is it that you wanna ask?"

"I want to know if I can go out from now on?"

Idris was not allowed to go out since he was always so weak and also sick, nobody could tell when his sickness would take over.

"You know it's...." Merle looking at her son couldn't say it out loud. She knew her son wanted to go out and live a normal life like other boys.

"No, you can't." With a sigh, Merle voiced so.

"Mother, I will really take care of myself and be more careful. I..."

"We are not going to talk about this." Merle stared at him politely yet he could see through her stiffness behind the words.

"I understood, Mother."

Rumours have it that the Duke once loved her very much but with Idris's condition getting worse day by day her importance in Duke's life decreased. In no time Merle became almost invisible in his eyes since she couldn't give him a healthy heir.

'I better try tomorrow.'

The Next Day

Peeking from the hiding, Idris slowly walked towards another pillar. As he noticed nobody was near, he ran towards the backyard in a rush.

Since this morning, Idris waited for Adam to leave him alone so he could sneak out. After all, Adam would freak out if he was to know about Idris's plan to go out.

"Now, let's do it." With much determination in his eyes, he started climbing on the wall. Sitting on the top of the wall he smirked, thinking how he could go out even though his mother said 'no' strictly.

Just as Idris took another step to jump down suddenly something pushed him away. The hit was so much that he felt pain in his chest.

Laid on the ground, Idris felt dizzy and the burning sensation in his chest grew deeper. He couldn't keep his eyes open anymore, "What... What was that?" And he fainted.
