Chapter 9
Abigail Hales Parker, a twenty five years old lady married to the first born of the Parkers; A well known and respected family, belonging to one of the Great Five Families in EastHill. She’s an arrogant lady with rude manners and foolish in nature. Disrespectful and likely termed mannerless. Most people refer her to the ‘Beauty without manners’. She’s a very pretty lady that indeed lacks manners. Abigail wasn’t like that growing up, the attitude and arrogance started when everyone started hating on Lorraine and marked her as a subject of bully. She became everyone’s favorite, even the uncle that wanted to hit her right now was among those that pampered her while growing up.Abigail wasn’t taught any manners, she’s made to believe that she can have anything she wants, and she can do anything she wants to anybody. Her grandfather gave her more audacity, always supporting her when she’s suppose to be corrected, always defending her where she’s supposed to be shamed and learned from.Abigail ended up being a spoilt brat that lacks manners. Hearing that she should apologize to her uncle for what she said, her gaze traveled around the room looking at everyone’s faces. From where she stood she began whining hoping one of them would defend her like always or her husband would support her, “Grandpa but I did nothing wrong, I only said the truth and everyone made it seem as if I said something-““Apologize now Abigail or get out of my house!” Lennox affirmed once more in a firm voice, cutting Abigail off her statement. Her lips stretched open in bewilderment, as she gaped widely at her grandpa. She scoffed angrily and proceeded to grabbing her bag.“If you all want me out, then I’m out of here, and you all can kiss your deal with the Parker’s goodbye as from today now.” She stated in anger, grabbing her husband by the wrist and dragging the both of them out of everyone’s presence. Lorraine from where she hid realizing they’re approaching her quickly meek out of her hiding place and pretended as if she was just coming in.Her and Abigail eventually meet, Abigail stopped on her tracks, looking at Lorraine with her eyes filled with disdain and irritation, and Lorraine doing everything she can to avoid her toxic gaze by staring at her feet and at the ceiling.“You!” She called in a deadly tone, leaving her husband alone and taking a slow deadly approach towards Lorraine.Lorraine seeing her moves stepped back, she knew her cousin so well. She’s always abusive to her, and the least she wants right now is getting abused by her. She’s had enough of everything she’s facing.“How dare you show your face here again?” She questioned, venom dripping off her words as she quickly closed the gap between her and Lorraine.“Abigail I did nothing wrong, just leave me alone please, please be on your way with your husband.”“Don’t you dare say my husband name in your filthy dirty mouth.” She snapped at her, her eyes brimming with spite as she glared intensely at Lorraine. If looks could kill, Lorraine would be ten feet below by now.“Enough Abigail, let go.” Sean commanded, grabbing his wife by hand and pulling her with him as they walk outside.A relief sigh escaped Lorraine’s lips the moment they left. She was about going back inside the house but heard them engaged in another discussion. So she hid back at where she was, eavesdropping on everything they’re saying.“She’s more worse than Lorraine.” Oscar commented with an eye roll.“I can’t believe I gave birth to her.” Royce said, more like he was talking to himself than the family.Royce was the father of Abigail, her mother died just years after giving birth to her; she died of cancer. He showed her excess love and care, and the rest of the family showed her more. There was nothing she lack, and yet she still disrespected them, it’s what they deserved for not bringing a child up the proper way they should have.Abigail has never treated her father like a father ever, or the rest of the family as a family. She always treated them like all of them are all below her, that she’s the superior of them all.“Speaking of Lorraine, her useless husband seemed to be actually useful. I still don’t know how he got those invitations.” That was Vance, changing the topic because the more they talk about Abigail’s shitty attitude towards him the more his anger to do some damages on her fuels.“Yes, I still wonder where he got them from. And then the woman that came to deliver the invitations refer to him as Boss. I don’t trust him one bit.” Charlotte said, backing Vance up. Lorraine’s heart ached badly hearing what her mother said about her husband. She came here to see if she can change her conception about Avon.“I don’t know if he really stole those invitations, and did everything just so he can get us to accept him and have access to our wealth. Poor Lorraine just couldn’t see the kind of man she’s married to, to see he’s only using her.” Oscar said also.“We all know the only person that can talk some sense into Lorraine is her friend. When is Faye returning Vance?” Charlotte spoke up, asking Vance about her daughter who was in school but attending a boarding school. She’s one of the true friends Lorraine have, she never treated Lorraine like others have always treated her. She always supported her and being there for her.“Soon, she’s coming back probably next week or the upper.” Replied Vance, “I cant wait for her to be back, only her truly can speak some senses into Lorraine.” He added.“I strongly concur, she might be our only hope of opening Lorraine’s eyes that the man she’s with worth nothing, there are other men out there from the Great Five Families who are ready to marry her and spend lavishly on her, a marriage that would also benefit us. Why would she be adamant about staying married with that worthless piece of human instead.” Oscar cussed horribly.Lorraine was stupefied from where she was, her family speaking this ill about someone who just gave them an invitation to the party they were dying to attend. She came out of where she was hiding, moving close to where everyone was seated. “Can I tell you all something?” Lorraine asked, announcing her presence that have all attention directed and focused on her. Her face gleamed with fury, making her appearance looks scary than she’s ever been.“You all are horrible, Abigail is no better than any of you. If speaking, she learns from the best.”Chapter 10 “You all are horrible, Abigail is no better than any of you. If speaking even, she learns from the best.” Lorraine had voiced out in anger, the least her family could do is just give her husband a chance. A chance to prove himself different, a chance to prove them wrong. That’s all she asked for, all she truly needed from them to give to her and her husband. But why wouldn’t they do that, why would they keep degrading him at any given moment? Can’t they look at the positive side of things? Is it that hard for them to do. “Lorraine-““No! Not a word from any of you. Not a single word.” Her index shot up, cutting the words that were too come out of Charlotte’s mouth short. She lowered her eyes in anger, traveling round the room with hate and disdain emitting strongly from her gaze.“This same man treated my face, made me look this beautiful, when it was you all that originally invented that ugly look. Or have you all forgotten all the horrible things you all did to me? T
Chapter 11 Decorative lights and illuminants lit up the extravagant mansion of the Dragon’s General. The hall was crowded with high class citizens of EastHill conversing with one another in such a classy manner. Waiters walked around with trays filled with glasses of champagne, whiskey, red wine, or expensive sort of drinks. Maids are also on standby, Incase the guests needed their help or their attention. Everything was neatly set and stunningly in order. The party was going smoothly. At different corners was the Hales family distributed and discussing with a member of the Great Five Families. “I heard your daughter, Lorraine is now the most prettiest lady in EastHill?” A woman had asked Charlotte, a woman from the Stones Clan. “Yes,” Charlotte responded in a mild tone. Not really sure why she was asking, she had talked about her family getting in deal with theirs, so she’s quite befuddled on why she’s asking about her daughter, or the kind of answer she’s about to give to he
Chapter 12 Back at the party. Just outside the villa. A taxi cab drove in the compound parking at a central spot for his passenger to get down, the door opened with a beautiful girl clad in a dimly bright crystal gown that had a tiny strap hanging around its shoulder, the length of the gown flowing downward to wiping the floor behind her body, with her feet stick perfectly into a golden mid-high heels. Up her left thigh was a slit running down from there, and held in her palm and clinging to her thigh was a small golden purse as well. It was Lorraine, looking radiant as ever as she walked steadily to the entrance of Avon’s villa. Her hair was up in a messy bun, with a nude light makeup smeared on her face, her lips were clothed in a pink glossy lipstick bringing out more of her heart shaped lips. She truly rocked the whole being beautiful with her majestic appearance. She stood still in silence, her lips hung slightly downwards as she stared at the mansion in front of her. She t
Chapter 13 Lorraine eyes were shut tightly embracing the pain of the man’s strong grip squeezing her shoulder. She made a move, trying to get out of his hold but he only strengthened his curb on her instead of releasing her or letting her go. Opening back her eyes, a new courage from nowhere clothed Lorraine’s expression as she shot a kick up in between Richard’s thigh. He moved back at once grabbing his crotch as he bent down in pain. Lorraine took the initiative in moving closer and sending two more punches to his spine, before curving her elbow and touching her attack up, she bent close to him, her head above his ear. “Stay away from me.” She whispered in a threatening dark voice. Standing up and walking away from him. She saw the members of her family gathered around a table and all looking droopy, sitting down with their faces resting on their palm. She knew at once that their night isn’t going according to their plan. Lorraine wanted to go up to them, asked them what went w
Chapter 14 Avon arrived back at his mansion, late already to the ongoing party. The once crowded mansion already scanty. The cars parked out in his compound all gone. That was his plan, until he finish his mission of killing those that killed his family. No one will know what he looks like, no one will be able to recognize him. He got down from the car, arranging immediately for the lady he brought home with her to be settled down and taken care of. Passing through the foyer he saw Lorraine sitting down on the couch hugging herself with her head rested on the couch’s headboard. He immediately went to her, getting to her he met her already asleep, her hand clinging tightly to her purse, and her face laying up with her eyes closed. He stared at her beautiful features with admiration, a smile appearing on his lips as he appreciated her ethereal physiques. After awhile he bent down, proceeding into carrying her up and scooping her in his arms, in bridal style. The process jerking Lo
Chapter 15 Back at the Hales’s Villa, the same night. Everyone was at the sitting room, discussing about the party’s outcome, with Grandfather Lennox present and listening to them narrate their situation to him. “So all of them wanted Lorraine in exchange for a deal with them right?” Lennox asked, in conclusion to all they’ve been saying. “Yes,” Vance nodded his head positively, answering for them all. Lennox went quiet, his index lifting up to his chin as he drown himself in his thought, trying to think of a way to solve all this. There’s no way Lorraine could possible get married to four families, so he has to think of another way to get them with him.Oscar and Royce exchanged glances, before Oscar decided to speak up, “We developed an idea,” he said, having Lennox’s attention with his gaze snapped at him. “We know pretty well that Lorraine isn’t ready to divorce Avon, that no matter how we try to convince her she’s never going to listen or leave him. However, she can dance t
Chapter 16 Charlotte Allen Hales, she was just twenty years old then when she met Jason Hales, the actual deceased first born of the Hales family. They fell in love so quickly it wasn’t long they got together, it was two years after their marriage when they both welcomed Lorraine, and three more years later she discovered her husband was suffering from blood cancer, it has gotten to the last stage and he couldn’t be saved and so he lost his life battling it. Since then her value to the family was shortened and ignored, she was once treated like a queen, like an egg, but ever since Jason died and Lorraine was officially hated by all, she was treated differently. She tried to gain back their love, playing to all their tunes, hating her own daughter and treating her the same way the whole family treated her, joining the family business and doing everything in her small power to make it grow, but still she wasn’t noticed like before, she was still shunned. But when her daughter return
Chapter 17Avon was speechless, his face doused in shock, wondering how an earthly human being could go through all this and still be alive. Avon couldn’t reply her question, after listening to her life story rather than an explanation, he was too shocked to speak. That was too traumatic. He knew that.“I need to go.” She said after much silence, gently getting up from the bed and sliding her feet into the laying slippers. “No!” Avon stood up also, standing in front of her. “I will take you in, I will protect you from him and make sure he get what he deserves for what he did to you. You’ll stay with me from now on, I will help you if only you want my help. I won’t force you, but I will let you know that dying isn’t the option now that you met me.” Avon said to her, sounding as much as assuring he could sound. “Can you tell me your name?” Avon requested. “I’m Kory, Kory Anders.” She answered, in a mild tone while sitting back down. “I promise you Kory, you’ll have a good life now
Chapter 167 Kory stared with confliction, now that he knows who she is. Was he going to rat her out or is there an agenda to why he kept quiet and gave her a subtle look of knowledge. She approached him with slow cautious steps, “Who are you?” Her head tilted slightly, her eyes squinting obliquely at him. “I’m not the Finn you know, I’m the total opposite.” He responded, bored and typically plained. “Then who are-““It doesn’t matter. What matters is joining hands to achieve our aims. Yours is retrieve the divinity surrounding Avon, while I came to claim his soul. That we should works towards and should matter.” He had cut her off, summing up the base of their plans. “You were going to frame Lorraine for the murder of your body right. I definitely can help with that, I will be the witness and use my abilities to manipulate things into supporting this plan. This would create a rift between them, a dispute you would take advantage of him and approach him to meddle with the conflict
Chapter 165 Avon returned to looking for Charlotte and Kory, hurrying with the search after assuming Charlotte succeeded in throwing Kory out of the house since the shouting died down. He felt a different aura around Finn, but could not afford looking into it as he’s busy with stopping Charlotte. He strolled down the stairs, arriving at the mansion’s frontal exit to see nothing but two of his guards standing there on random lookout. Kory and Charlotte were nowhere to be found. Avon moved closer to the guards, minding to question about Kory. “Have any of you seen Kory or Charlotte?” His voice questioned, immediately gaining their attention. Their head fell low in an instant, “No, General. We took post not too long, we have no idea where they could be.” The one of the left lipped a response. Avon sighed turning around and returning back upstairs. His gut kicked in, telling him something strange is going on. He wasn’t certain, but something just doesn’t feel right. While ascendin
Chapter 164Lorraine stood up from the position she was squatted to. Avon already went after Charlotte like he said. He could hear Kory’s voice shouting meters away and Charlotte trying to shut her up. “You’re not getting away with this, whatever it is that you just did to me. Give me back my body you piece of a useless shit!” She heard Kory’s voice yelling at Charlotte. “Fine bitch.” Charlotte said and that was the end of their shouting. Avon hastened his footsteps rushing to the direction he heard then shouting from only to see they were gone. Still looking around for them his eyes landed on Finn who creeped out from nowhere standing behind him. Avon almost jerked, “Finn.” He called a little weird out by his sudden appearance. “Where were you? How did you? It doesn’t matter, when you did you come back?” Avon took some steps backwards before inquiring. Finn smirked, a dark edgy one that has Avon squinting his gaze at him. “I came in not too long, I was looking for you.” He r
Chapter 164Faye walked in on the strange man rummaging for God knows what in her grandfather’s drawer. “Who are you and what are you looking for?” She asked, announcing her presence with her gaze sizing the man up trying to read his appearance. The man looked up from where he was, becoming aware of Faye’s presence as he brought up his hand that held a gun in it. Corking the object he pointed it straight at her head. “Hands up bitch!” He instructed, his finger tugging close to the trigger. Faye exclaimed with her expression as her lips parted in shock. Molten saliva liquid gulped down her throat as she slowly obliged to the man’s instruction. “You’re not gonna scream and you’re gonna come in further.” He beckoned with the gun, Faye had no choice than to step in further approaching him where he stood. “What is your name beautiful? Perhaps you can lead me to who I’m suppose to kill. I’m here for Charlotte Hales, and Oscar Hales.” Faye kept her ears attentive, arriving at the fron

Chapter 162Avon and Lorraine left the kitchen to go check on Kory to see if she’s packing her things and leaving like they wanted. Arriving at the hallway they met Oscar who had on a forlorn expression and seated on the floor with his back rested on the wall. Lorraine signaled for Avon to go on and check without him while she approached Oscar to ask what was going on with him. His daughter is now fine, she’s very sure of it because it was her husband who healed her and made sure of that. So she wondered in her head on what could have brought him back to expressing quite a wide shade of sadness on his face. Avon didn’t went on like Lorraine had say, instead took a spot and stood there waiting for her.Lorraine got to Oscar as she stooped to his position. “Uncle what’s wrong?” She asked in a tone laced with empathy. Her palm reaching out to soothe his shoulder with some pats. “Nothing is going to happen to Faye again, she’s really fine now. Don’t bother yourself much about her, s
Chapter 161Faye arrived at the Hales’ Villa going straight in search of her uncles. Oblivious to the situation that Royce is admitted and Vance is dead. The house was uncannily empty with counted souls moving around scantily. She went up to Royce’s room, it was empty and he wasn’t inside, the same thing when he arrived at Vance’s room. She wondered where the both went to. Faye came out of Vance’s room going straight to Lennox’s room, he also wasn’t in his room. Seeing no one to question about the solitude of the house, she retreated going back downstairs where she would come across some maids to question about where everyone is. Arriving back downstairs and walking past the lobby that leads to the kitchen, the big door opened with a familiar face coming inside. She was on a wheelchair with a man behind her, the familiar face belonging to Abigail. “Oh hey Faye, what are you doing here?” She asked the moment both gazes landed on each other. It was hazy in Faye’s head, the perple
Continuation from the last episode. “Yeah.” He concurred standing up so both could be on their way to Royce. “But what if he is not the one? What if it is somebody else?” He asked keeping his eyes on his face as both turned around to walk down the passage that leads to their uncle’s room. “Who else could it be? They’ve planned to kill him, and if anything doesn’t lead to his suspicion it was yesterday at the same party when he announced himself as the Dragon General. That speech he gave simply said he is not the one to take things lightly. My father and his uncles came for him so he decide to take them out. That’s just my theory though, we should wait and hear from Uncle Royce what actually happened in that room. I also notice something strange.” Aiden was left curious hearing the last sentence of his words. “What did you notice?” He asked with his brows furrowed. “You know I told the maids not to clean up Dad’s murder scene, it wasn’t to call the cops but it was for me to inspec
Chapter 158Aidan brought down the phone from his ear ending the call with Oscar. He had called to phone him about his father’s death when he made a new discovery. Aidan went back to the room where his brother was, he tapped on his shoulder the moment he got to him calling for his attention. His head was buried in his knees as he sobbed quietly sitting on the chair. Grandfather was laid still on the bed with his eyes concealed under his lashes. “We need to talk.” His said, stretching out a palm for him to grab. “What is it? Look I’m very much okay with myself crying like this, I don’t need your stupid concern or console-““Shut the fuck up and come with me. This is more important than the stupid tears you’re shedding.” Aidan leaned grabbing his wrist anyways and pulling him on to his feet, he dragged the both of them out of the room.He took them to the passage where a bench was available as he sat the both of them down on it.“I really don’t think dad was murdered by an assassin.
