Chapter 1

“Are you sure you want to tell them who you are now?” Marx was looking at Keith, a man dressed in a plain shirt and khakis.

“Well, I have been with them for three years and I just recovered my memory. I need to thank them for all they have done for me and also my dear wife Eleanor.” Keith smiled at the man, he had the appearance of a normal man.

“I think you should take all the gifts, I know they would be thrilled to know who you are. I will be waiting for your call sir,” The man got into a black jeep and zoomed off.

Keith turned and headed back home, he walked into a mansion that was heavily decorated, it was like a castle built for the kings. Keith went into the mansion, he walked in seeing his mother-in-law seated in the main living room, a woman that looked like she was bathed in luxury. Her demeanor alone was enough to show she was no ordinary class woman.

Keith smiled because he was about to deliver a heartfelt message to her, “Hello Mother, how are you doing?” Keith smiled as he sat close to her but he noticed that she frowned her face, it was like she was not happy to see him.

There was no reply from her, Keith just thought that she might have one of her migraines. “I wanted to thank you for all you have done for me in the past three years, I wanted to give you this.”

Keith handed a small parcel to Sandra, she looked at the package with horror in her eyes. “What sort of joke is this? What kind of gift will a low life like you afford?”

Keith was used to her harsh insults but he wanted to make sure that he was going to give her a gift telling her thank you for all she had done for him.

“It's a small gift, I want to show that I am grateful for all you and your family have done for me. This past three years you all made sure that I was okay and healthy, I am very grateful.”

Keith handed the parcel to Samdra, she looked at the poorly wrapped package without even thinking of it twice she flung it across the room.

“What sort of insult is this? Are you trying to mock me in any way? What do you think you are and why would you think I would take such a pathetic gift from you?”

Sandra looked at Keith with pure disgust in her eyes, he looked at his mother-in-law trying to find out what he had done to deserve her hostility.

“Mother, what did I do to deserve all this? I only brought a gift to you to show how much I appreciate all you have done for me,”

“Get this into your thick skull, I was not the one that saved you. It was my late husband, I told him time without number to get rid of you like the filth you are but he didn't. Instead, he chose to help you out and you turned out to have won his heart and made him give you our beloved daughter as a wife.”

Sandra was looking at Keith like he was a plague, Keith didn't say anything he stood there looking at her.

The late Marcus Kendricks had saved Keith when Marcus found him. He had made sure that Keith was taken care of and his wounds treated.

Not only was Marcus fond of Keith, he wanted him to be part of his family so he made sure that his daughter Eleanor married him before he died. But it has been a year since he died and the Kendrick family want nothing to do with Keith.

“Mother, you should know that I love Eleanor and I want the best for her at any time of the day. I know that things have been rough for me but I am going to make sure.”

“If you truly love my daughter you will let her go,” Sandra didn't let Keith finish his words, she was looking at him with anger boiling in her.

“I don't understand what you mean mother?” Keith was puzzled when he heard what Sandra had to say, he was looking at her.

“I mean you set my daughter free of your dreaded presence, you are a stain to our reputation and she is only with you to make sure that she keeps her late father’s wish. You are nothing but a burden to her life and a weight to us all,” Sandra was not looking like she was not going to stop insulting Keith at any moment.

Keith looked at her, he knew she always resented him but he never thought that it would be up to this level, “I don't know where you are going with this mother, how am I spoiling the family name? I have always been the one to make sure that I was taking care of Eleanor all these years.”

“Yet you don't see your greatest flaw? You are a nobody, a parasite that is not meant to be with people of our class. You should be at some kind of run-down help home.” Sandra did not hold any insult back, Keith had been jobless for the past two months because of a ghastly car accident that almost claimed his life.

“I told you all that I will get yet another job to make sure that I keep making Eleanor smile. My wife and I are happy in our relationship.” Keith was trying to defend his marriage, he was not going to let Sandra do anything to split him up with Eleanor.

Sandra got up from the couch and looked Keith straight in the eye, “I know you must be stupid, but I want to tell you that there is no need for you to look for any underpaying job. You will be getting divorced from Eleanor tomorrow, she has already signed the papers and it only needs your signature.”

Sandra threw a paper to Keith, he picked up the paper and looked at it. It was divorce paper with Eleanor’s signature on it, Keith stood there in confusion looking at the paper. “What is the meaning of this? I know this has to be some kind of sick joke. Where is El?”

Keith looked at Sandra trying to get her to tell her where his wife was. “If you are looking for my daughter she is inside her room with an important guest, please do not disrupt their peace sign the papers here and make sure that there is no other misunderstanding.”

Keith hearing that his wife was in the room didn't even care if there was someone there with her, he was going to find out. “Keith! You come back here and sign those papers! There is no place in this house for you!”

Keith was not listening to any of Sandra’s words, the only thing on his mind was the divorce papers in his hands and how he was going to make sure that he got to the bottom of whatever it was that was happening.  Keith went to the bedroom door, seeing it slightly open, and began talking trying to find out what was going on.

“Eleanor? I saw the divorce papers and I see a signature on the papers, please tell me that I am not seeing correctly.” Keith barged into the room, he stood petrified. The sight before him was a horrifying one, his wife sat on their bed kissing another man.

“Eleanor?”
