Chapter 3: Humiliation

When Alex heard Georgia Smith's words, his heart tightened. "What? Is it possible that Mary had cheated on him?" 

Mary denies it right away. "Mom, I only agreed to let James take me out to discuss the sale of my restaurant, but it turned out that he wanted to help Samantha with her medical bills. Because it was dark, he insisted on sending me home. It isn't what you think."

"Daniel James is Arcanehouse's heir. Marrying him would be the best thing that could have happened to you." Georgia stated flatly.

"I'm not going to divorce Alex." Alex couldn't take it any longer and confronted them. Georgia Smith desperately wanted to kick him out, but he wouldn't let her.

Mary scowled. "Listen to me, Mom. Yes, I love Alex, but if I divorce him during these difficult times, I will be a laughingstock." Mary stated.

"It's nothing in comparison to your long-term happiness." Georgia said coldly.

"I'm not divorcing Alex!" Mary maintained her position.

When Alex heard this, he was touched.  He pushed the door and entered, looked at Mary with relief and joy.

Master Smith interrupted them. His father-in-law ignored Alex at all.

“Daniel James would be a good choice. James and Henry are the two potential winners of Rocky government housing project, which will cost hundreds of billions of dollars. According to insiders, they both have the best proposals on the table and it will undoubtedly be between them. Divorce him and marry Daniel James. ”

"You haven't married him yet, but he previously offered to help with Samantha's medical expenses. Your life will be filled with milk and honey if you marry James." 

Geogia said. 

Alex kept his fist clenched, and Mary noticed this. She held his hands softly. 

 

"Dad, please lend me half a million dollars for my father-in- law treatment, he's currently in severe pains," Mary mustered the courage to speak up in defense of her husband.

"Under one condition, I will pay your father's medical bills in full." Master William Smith made a commotion.

"Father!" Alex said with a wild grin on his face.

"Divorce Mary now and allow Daniel James to marry her, and I will add an extra million dollars to your account." 

Beep, beep, beep, beep. The doorbell rang.

Daniel James walked in with a bouquet of bright rose flowers in his hands because the door was open. He was a well-dressed, attractive young man with a pleasant smile on his face. In Rocky City, he owns "Yew Arts," a five-star construction company.

 "Why is he here?" Alex murmured to himself. His fist almost bled. There was nothing more humiliating than a surprise visit from a man who was more popular with his in-laws. At that moment, even he wondered if he wasn't good enough for his wife.

“I texted him to let him know Mary had arrived.” Georgia smirked. Her strategy worked.

"Good day, Auntie Georgia. I apologize for bothering you." Daniel's voice had a magnetic quality to it.

"Oh, it's Daniel James, Please come sit." Georgia Smith greeted Daniel James with a smile and excitement. Alex Benjamin turned to face Daniel James. He hadn't expected this man to approach Mary with a rose in his hand. Alex Benjamin was furious at this point and wanted to kill Daniel. As if a knife had been stabbed into his chest, trying hard to keep his emotions to himself.

"Master Smith, I hope I didn't bother you, sir I was in your neighborhood when Auntie Georgia texted me, so I decided to hurry over so that I could arrive early for the celebration." Daniel James politely smiled.

"Oh, please don't be too polite. I've been looking forward to seeing you. Mary is a shy child, so you should be more assertive." Daniel received a wink from Master Smith. He was overjoyed, he realized right away. "Master Smith, I promise to work hard.

"This is?" Daniel cast a glance at Alex Bemjamin.

"His name is Alex Benjamin, and he's Mary's distant cousin." Georgia Smith responded right away.

"He's my husband," Mary quickly clarified.

"I know Mary has a husband and a child, but I was told that your relationship isn't very good," Daniel James said, his smile instantly froze. "I didn't expect you to be so attractive. Hello, my name is Daniel James." As a gentleman, Daniel extended his hand to Alex. Mary remembered Alex's usual cowardice as she looked at Daniel's refined appearance. Her mood began to shift.

"You came here with a rose?" Alex asked Daniel James. "What's that for?"

"I've already mentioned that I heard your relationship with Mary wasn't going well. I won't keep it from you because you asked so directly. She appeals to me. You can leave now. How much money do you require? Just let me know." Daniel James wielded a lot of power. Alex's eyes were about to pop out of their sockets with rage. 

"That's excellent." Alex spoke icily. He charged straight at Daniel James. He punched him in the face with his fist. Daniel was punched in the face because he couldn't dodge in time.

"You…," Daniel screamed. "Would you dare to hit me?"

“I would." Alex said coldly, "And if you lay a finger on my wife, I will blow your brains out.”

As he retreated, Daniel's face turned pale with fear.

"Alex Benjamin, are you insane? " Georgia couldn't think of anything to say. She had not expected him to make such a bold move.

However, Alex did not appear to be paying attention at this time. He took small steps toward Daniel James.

Mary stood up and slapped Alex Benjamin across the face. "Are you finished?" Alex came to a halt and looked at his wife.

"Alex Benjamin, wait until I make you pay!" Daniel pronounced a curse. Daniel quickly escaped from the door. 

"Alex, you idiot b*stard! What have you done! You've struck Daniel James. What if he wins the contract? How will he show his gratitude to the Smith family? " Georgia demanded angrily of Alex.

"He is an embarrassment to our family. We must protect our daughter from such a junkie." From behind, Master Smith said, "You will get zero from us, and your father will be thrown out from the hospital soon."
