Chapter 4: Mike

As Alex stepped out of the Smith Villa and walked to his bike, a Bugatti Chiron passed by, capturing his attention for the moment. His gaze was drawn to a former classmate. He immediately yells Alex's name. It was Mike, Alex's college friend who had dropped out for financial reasons but is now a don. Alex was ecstatic to see him. Mike parked his Buggati and dashed over to Alex.

"Are you the same Alex?" Mike asked, a big grin on his face and an open arm to hug Alex, his college buddy.

"You've always been a clown," Alex chuckled, "How are you, Mike."

Mike inquired as to where Alex parked his own car after seeing him emerge from such a massive mansion. Mike reasoned that Alex must be wealthier than him. Alex laughed and led him to his old and rickety bike, which he had parked.

"This is what I ride," Alex said, his face uninterested. This astounded Mike and prompted him to inquire further.

"When I saw you coming out of the Villa, I assumed it was the intelligent Alex Benjamin I knew in college," Mike said, his mood suddenly changing.

"No, this is the property of Master Smith, my father-in-law. ." Alex answered.

"Regardless, you should not be driving that kind of garbage bike. Is everything all right?" Mike inquired, intrigued.

"If I say yes, I'm joking; I'm going to see my father in Rocky city Hospital." Alex stated in an attempt to discharge Mike because he has had enough of rich people today. He doesn't want Mike to mock him like his father-in-law just did.

"That's where I'm going. I've only been in the neighborhood for a week. My wife is feeling a little under the weather. She has been admitted to Rocky City Hospital. Please let me take you there." Mike pleaded with Alex.

Alex couldn't resist his kindness, especially today.

On their way to the hospital, Mike inquired of Alex about the Government housing project that was open to the public.

"Did you applied for Rocky City Government project?"

"No, what's the deal?" Alex responded to Mike, curious about the project.

"It is a housing project worth billions of dollars. I assumed you were aware of it. It is your specialty." Mike informed Alex.

Alex didn't bother because he knew his chances of beating Daniel or Henry, his brother-in-law, were slim. He also lacked the necessary resources. But he didn't say anything, leave Mike along in his joy.

The receptionist recognized Alex as soon as they walked in. The penniless man with a lovely wife who was unable to pay his father's medical bill.

"Hae, what took you so long, the doctors said your dad will be thrown outside the hospital if you don't pay by the end of today." Mike was taken aback when she revealed this to them. Alex was frustrated and humiliated.

"Where is the doctor, so I can beg him for a few more days?" Alex begged the nurse to help him. Mike immediately took out his card and handed it over to her.

"Why are you willing to do this to me, Mike? "Alex asked hesitantly. Even his in-laws won't pay for him, and his friends just did. 

"I'd like you to join my team, and apply for the federal housing contract. You are an expert in this field." Mike responded to Alex's wishes.

"Despite the fact that the deadline is tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. If we hurry, we can still meet up." Mike advised, "Now, assess your father's condition.Everything will be fine, I believe. Rocky city Hospital the best cancer surgeon in the country." 

Alex went straight to see his father, filled with joy and relief because Mike had just lifted a heavy burden off his shoulders. The sound of him opening the door startled his father awake.

"You are a descendant of the Benjamin family, Alex. It is now up to you to protect our family name. Your family name must always be defended. Don't let your in-laws intimidate you. Don't be scared of them. They're just rogues." At this point, the elderly man on the hospital bed, who was beyond cure, screamed with all his might.

"Dad, you don't have to be concerned because they've always been rascals. For the time being, disregard them. My old college buddy has just paid for your surgery. You will be treated as soon as possible." Alex reassured his father.

Alex has a bright smile on his face. His father was elderly and frequently delirious. He hadn't said those words for the first time.

"I'll have to return soon. The doctors are getting ready to take you to the theatre. Prepare yourself, Dad, because you will soon be pain-free." Alex smiled as he assured his father. Alex Benjamin fists were clenched. He was in a good mood, and even his demeanor seemed to have changed.

He couldn't wait to tell Marry the exciting news. As soon as he walked out, he ran into Mike, who was walking towards the hospital's main entrance. They proceeded straight ahead to their parking spot. This time, three men in expensive black suits and black shades stood beside Mike's Buggati, which was parked?

What could be the problem? Alex thought to himself, but when he saw Mike's smile, he knew they knew each other. When the three men arrived, they stopped and greeted Mike.

"Hello, boss!" They all said it at the same time, in unison.
